Beautiful 👌
Incredible work & dedication.
Thanks
Absolutely stunning work buddy, it looks sooooooo good 😍👊🏻
TAMIYA Legends Thanks Glenn. 👍🏻 It was a few long days but it’s been worth it. Now do I build the McLaren F1 race car or start an original Hotshot restoration build?
It’s a thing of beauty! Great Job.
RC Retro Thanks. Yep she’s a stunner that’s for sure. The kit makes you work for it but once done. 😍
I always admired this car, a real piece of engineering by tamiya
Yep it’s a lovely kit but a pain in the backside when it breaks. It does that all the time.
Wow, professional grade results.
Amazing mate. Another stunning body 👍
KyzerGB Thanks Kyzer 👍🏻
Nice job love the channel
Appreciate it!
Looks great. When painting clear shells you should do the dark colours first (opposite to normal models). It reduces the risk of dark colours showing through the whites. Spraying the white last may also have lightened the blue, which looks a little dark on your kit.
Brilliant kit that I yearned for when I was young. The second-hand hornet that I managed to save up from my paper round was a very poor substitute for the Porsche.
Great channel.
Looks great. 👍😎👍
Thanks Steve :)
Wish Tamiya would re-release the 959
It turned out fantastic!
I love your channel :)
aviano72 Thank you, that’s very kind of you to say and it makes all the work and effort worth it. 👍🏻.
Some super cool cars coming over the next week kicking off with the F1 McLaren Honda! Then NIB build of a really special car ( 1 of only 333 in the world) coming soon so keep an eye out for the vids 👍🏻
Ng this afternoon doing a fiends konghead body. Job well done.
Awesome I love restoring classics to found your channel thru tamiya legends the 959 is a sweet car I don't have that one yet cool video I subbed 😁👍
Adventure Time RC Thanks and welcome to the channel. What classics do you have? Gavin
@@RCKickschannel tamiya vintage frog, thundershot, sonic fighter, black foot, manta ray a little bit newer 94 t/93 lola IndyCar then kyosho raider 2wd, pegasus, rocky and then nikko car and boats plus other brands lol it's a addiction I'm sure you know all about lol looking forward to watching more of your projects 👍😁
Adventure Time RC That it! Hehehe Nice one 👍🏻 Gavin.
Check out the RCKicks Facebook page for more current and behind-the-scenes content. 👍🏻
I really enjoyed this episode :-)
You learn of your mistakes so you will get better with time :-)
My orginal 959 body is worse than yours by far, so I have to go the same route with mine when the time comes.
Btw, bodyreamer is real handy for making holes in your lexan body, I highly recomend getting one :-)
Cheers from Norway
MrCaprinut I’m chuffed you liked the video. 👍🏻 A few things I would do different next time. 1. Order the window masks from MCI. 2. Spray the rear windows black. 3. Spray the front lights area correctly the first time. 4. Make sure I have some silver paint. 5. Do the project over a week or two vs doing it in two days lol.
Epic! 💪🏼💪🏼😎
I have the TBG body and I also have an original body too. This quite possibly the hardest body to paint and detail. Also the original Tamiya instructions want you to paint both the inside of the body and also the outside of the body to get the details right.
One more question please. How did you mounted the rear spoiler? I think that the original was in plastic with screws but the TBG is in lexan without screws. Glue?
Fit the spoiler the same way as the original Mario.
Should have backed it with white , I always had backed the inside to give a single solid color ..nice job none the less. Ps.. ya ever heard of overkill? The right tool for the job mate! Lol 18V hammer drill to drill in lexan a bit much lol.. still a fan
Did you use PS-04 blue for the lower part of the body? Just got a shell I need to paint up for my MF-01X replica
Tamiybase has the codes.
Rumor has it Tamiya destroyed the molds for this body. No wonder an original in box goes for close to 800 on ebay. Thnx🙃
I’m in need of replacement tyres, any pointers for original looking replacement rubber?
Where do you get the 959 brake lights from or are they in the kit?
Where do you get the decals from? - great Vid!
MCI decals
Is it possible to get a new shell from some over than tamiya?
MCI Racing for decals & Team Blue Grove for a body.
Is it missing the original working headlights?
No, just the LED wiring, I have the light buckets
RC. Have you done a full painting guide and advice from clean, masking all the way to painting and decals.
Not a tutorial as such but if you watch my videos you can see what I do. My channel is more RC entertainment and what I'm doing with my cars. I don't really want to be dishing out direct user guides on do this, don't do that kind of thing as its not my place. I will in time do reviews of products but I'm no expert and I never claim to be.
Thanks
Wonder if I should buy a beat up 959 for 50 euros.
Hey Gavin can you tell me if hand paints are they polycarbonate paints or just the Tamiya Acrylic paints thanks in advance
Most people spray now using Tamiya polycarbonate paint but you can also get the from Core-RC. Some also use airbrushes.
RCKicks so those paints you used when you the hand painting on the 959 body were polycarbonate based paint
@@kevindoherty7935 As much as possible yes. If the part doesn't flex and you can key the surface then you can get away with Tamiya X paints but it can be a risk if you use it in the wrong location on the body..
RCKicks thanks Gavin for the info it’s very helpful
The cockpit is this available to buy?
The wing was that from the donor body?
Cheers
TBG sell the body, cockpit and rear wing. You will need to find mirrors, driver heads, roof lights
Absolute legend!! What decals have you used?
These are a real vintage set.
RCKicks ok fab - thank you :)
Final Q - the roof lights...are they also original?
I don’t think you advised on what this costed you in any of the vids, please can you let me know? Also can you confirm if the decals are reproduction, as it looked like you had “Racing” stickers at the start, but in the end the car came out with “Rothmans”. Many thanks 👍🏽
cfc99991974 I have real and repo stickers. The stickers on the body in this video are MCI not Tamiya OEM. I was saving the OEM set for my original 959 body.
As for the costs it’s best not to ask lol. More than you expect and double what you would think.
I’ve always wondered why Tamiya went 1/12 with these instead of 1/10
Not sure but it does really change how the car feels when you build it
running vid next?
I have a few running videos to do. Watch this space :)
