Okay, let's be honest for a moment here; this is a RISKY cover for ANYBODY to attempt. When Meat Loaf released this song so many years ago, it was an INSTANT CLASSIC. To get a 'Tommyfied' version of this iconic tune is nothing short of an early Christmas present to his legions of fans. We're a fickle, judgmental lot, let's be real here. But, have faith in maestro Johansson and sit back and enjoy this INCREDIBLE version. The 'Johanssonized' version of this song is nothing short of FAN-STINKING-TASTIC!!!!

It is a very good version and has earned a subscription from me. I don't think it surpasses the OG or the Bat the musical version though, as it works better as a duet. But I'm impressed enough to want to hear more.
To even attempt it as a cover solo has earned a massive amount of respect from me! Meatloaf's OG rendition is still king, but this is truly a worthy cover.
Steinman wrote great big songs for great big singers. Tommy did a really good job here.
The fact he does it himself, is a REAL awesome.
Anyone that has the balls to cover Meatloaf, and do such a smashin fantastic job, is meant for huge success!!!

I just listened to Meat Loaf sing this and hands down there is no comparission. Tommy, you did so much justice to this song. No more words are needed.
I didn't think I'd ever hear a Tommy cover song that Meat Loaf sang. He's said it often enough himself. 😉But he heard his fans and today the surprise is all the greater. What can I say? I'm overwhelmed because it turned out to be a great masterpiece. 🤘Tommy has once again put so much love and energy into this song that it almost takes my breath away. I have goosebumps and say thank you from the bottom of my heart for this great gift. I love your great music and I really wish you all the best because for me you will always be the buddy to have a beer with in the evening and talk about God and the world. 🍻You simply stayed true to yourself and didn't stand out in any way. I'm at a loss for words for how absolutely talented you are and Micheal Lee Aday would no doubt that you're continuing his legacy with such an awesome representation and rendition of his music. Considering Tommy said he'd never play this "I will play anything you want but I won't play that" this is sheer magnificence! Beautifully bombastic and a wonderful tribute to the big man we lost nearly two years ago. Hopefully for the second anniversary of Meats passing Tommy might like to mark the occasion by singing something about lying at the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun. We all know it and we all want it and Tommy is the only one who can give it to us.😊

Honestly, I’ve never heard any of your work before, but I’m crazy about Meat Loaf. A huge part of Meat was his emotion behind his performances and you actually capture energy in this. A lot of times you hear a cover, and sure it might be sung well, but it still lacks emotion, which makes it not great. This cover lacks nothing! This is honestly really stunning. You’re incredibly talented.

As a huge fan of Meatloaf I am very happy this rendition. I came by this channel by way of Peter Barber doing a reaction to Tommy’s cover of Phantom, which was great. On that video I said Tommy reminded me of a young Meatloaf, then I come here and hear this! Outstanding, Meatloaf would have been honored to hear this. I was in high school when the original came out, now years later this wonderful and faithful version. Thanks for doing such a great job.

I have loved this song since “Bat out of hell” came out, definitely one of my favorite albums, such a masterpiece. Meatloaf was incredibly talented, but never really received the recognition that he deserved. He infused such emotion into his performances, I honestly never thought anyone else could do these songs justice… but that was before I discovered you Tommy. You performed this song brilliantly, I know Meatloaf, RIP, is smiling down on you with pride, at being able to sing this as well as he did, I dont think anyone else could.
