Arcanine is souly fire type, meaning it had no type at all after that (which is what the ??? was). Normally, this means that all attacks would cause neutral damage, but because Arcanine had wonder guard, it'll only take damage from super effective moves, so now you can't damage it with any attack. Tl;dr- Shedinja gave Arcanine wonder guard. Arcanine used burn up to get rid of its fire type. Arcanine has no type anymore, so you can't damage it

This happens in anygame that has rng involved, it just that pokemon has much more rng than most games and thing like ring target snd illusion exist and if yout not paying attention u could easiky miss it. Also bcos salty kids get one bad rng roll and thinks u messed with their rng

Ring Target Item and the move Burn Up are pretty obscure things. If you asked a lot of Pokémon players I doubt they could tell you what they do. First time i saw the Wonder Guard/Burn Up combo I had to look up what was going on myself.
The Arcanine got me, I didn't know there was a move like Entertainment, but I did know about Burn Up making mono-type fire types typeless but only of Typhlosion, so this was so funny to see

There is a difference between using stall and using a defensive strategy. I actually prefer defensive games because they bring more depth to the table. The game isn't usually decided on a single prediction. But consistency of prediction and decision making. And even PP amounts become relevant.
