  • Good afternoon everyone - today I wanted to make a comparison video between two popular Wifi-6 options, the Asus RT-AX82U and the Netgear Orbi. Long story short, unless you know for a fact you absolutely NEED a mesh system, I would strongly recommend trying out a traditional router like this Asus. I firmly believe that in certain home sizes and configurations, Mesh Wifi is simply overkill and today's routers are more than capable of providing a strong, consistent signal throughout the entire home.
I used to be a believer that "Mesh is Best" and you should always pick the biggest, baddest, most expensive option out there and you'll never have a problem, but I was wrong. Save your money, shop somewhere with a good return policy, and try out different routers to find the one that's right for you. I'm willing to bet that the $200 Asus is more than enough for most people, but if you do own a mammoth house with a ton of dead zones, or a metric crapload of devices, then Mesh Wifi might be the best and only real option.
The Orbi is not a bad system by any means. I gave it a glowing review back in September of 2020, and would still recommend it if you were dead set on buying a mesh system. Today, for my usage (1850 sqft home and 10 devices), I just prefer the simplicity and reliability of the Asus RT-AX82U.
As always, thank you for watching. I included some bonus codes at the end for some Steam games. Please consider liking and subscribing, or at least providing a little bit of feedback if there is an area I can improve upon.
    Have a great week.
