THIS vid is exactly what I needed to see about fresco. I always get confused by some of the functions fresco has when it comes to layering. If you could, keep making more vids on this topic. It’s extremely helpful to see. Great vid Chris!
I’m getting better because of your videos! You’re such a great teacher! I love Fresco and the seamless flow with the other Adobe apps. I even integrated it with Premiere to make a longer animation. Thank you so much!
Very good breakdown and summary. And as always, I like the whole way your videos are made. You are so pleasant to watch. I am completely in Team Fresco thanks to you.
Fantastic tutorial! Your tips for adding color to illustrations in Fresco are incredibly useful. I'm curious, do you have any favorite color combinations or palettes that you tend to use frequently in your illustrations?
Thanks! Glad you liked it. I tend to go through phases with my color combos, but I have been using slight variations of that blue/green and red/pink together for a long time.
I've never thought that I could just stack having the reference layer and the color inside feature! Thank you so much for this!! I mostly do illustrations and use textured brushes mostly so I find this really helpful!
I use both, but for things like this, where I’m trying to get a more analog / print making look, vector brushes don’t work as well. They’re more suited for solid shapes/colors. Also, if I don’t need the art to be reproduced at gigantic sizes it’s overkill. There’s a lot more control with pixel brushes.
Maybe. But it’s not really the best for that kind of thing. I think it’s better to think of Fresco’s animation features as a way to add motion to an illustration.
OMG it worked!!!! I coulda sworn I tried that. I must not have done it right. Thank you sooooo much. Now I can quickly color in my fashion illustrations, Life changing! @@chris-piascik
What i dont like about colouring in fresco, if you decide to see how something looks without the outlines and turn them off, you end up being left with a space thats not been coloured where the lines used to be
Are you talking about when using reference layers? I think that would be the same no matter what app you were using because that's how reference layers work, it's using the space within the lines as a guide, otherwise the color wouldn't have a guide to stop. The only way to get around this would be to manually color on a separate layer and then bring down the opacity of your line work layer so you could see it but still see through it so you could make sure the color went far enough below it. Alternatively you could color as normal with reference layers and then use the color inside setting (or lock transparency) to color your line work to match the fill. Hope that helps!
@@chris-piascik I have to say I been watching your vids almost everyday for 2 weeks and thank you so much for the content. First time using fresco and I have learned so much
Are you asking if that’s a paid feature? No, the only thing you need the paid version for is adding your own brushes, and it also gives you more creative cloud storage space.

This is an amazing app! Why would anyone ever use anything else! I had no idea these features existed! Thanks for sharing!!
Glad there was some new stuff in here for you!

Hello, I have been working with Pro Create and new to Fresco.. how do I set up color mode: RGB or CMYK when starting a new document? Thanks.
Color margins is the feature I needed. Great tip!
Cool! Glad it was helpful!
SO HELPFUL thank you ❤️
So glad!
Great stuff! THANK YOU!!!!
Glad you liked it!
Great tips!!
Thanks Jimmy!
Love the tips!!😊
So glad!

Thanks soooo much!!!
You're welcome!
Can you please tell me why you draw with the pixel brush and not the vector brush? New to Fresco here 😅

I love this!
why don't you use your left hand ?
Great tip
Thanks!
Can you make a 10 minute animation on fresco???
Maybe. But it’s not really the best for that kind of thing. I think it’s better to think of Fresco’s animation features as a way to add motion to an illustration.
Help! When I make a new layer and tap on it, it does not give me the option set as reference? Has this changed? Thank you
Hmm is it a placed image? If so you’ll need to convert it to a pixel layer in the layer options.
OMG it worked!!!! I coulda sworn I tried that. I must not have done it right. Thank you sooooo much. Now I can quickly color in my fashion illustrations, Life changing! @@chris-piascik
You know I try to do this on the layers but mine doesn't have the option to save as reference at all I see that nowhere under the lair actions
Hmm that’s bizarre. Is your app up to date?
@@chris-piascik you know I'm not sure but I'm definitely going to check now
Thanks
No problem 😀
Magic
Ty!
Someone knows the settings for the color picker? It picks the wrong one.
Hmm that’s strange, unless you have the modifier tapped and you’re selecting multiple colors.
@@chris-piascik Thanks for your answer. I'll check your advise.
My paint bucket setting is not activE
How to activated it?
That’s bizarre I’ve never seen a tool be deactivated. It’s just greyed out?
@@chris-piascik yes, can't select/tap it

@@chris-piascik yeah pretty much. I started using Affinity designer a bit more because it was a little easier for me to have the ability to do this
Couldn’t you just expand on the non destructive for the line work color by adding a layer above to change its color.
I showed that option in the video after I showed the color inside setting.
Do you have access to color margin in the free version of fresco?
Yes, you just can’t import brushes in the free version and you have less creative cloud storage
@@chris-piascik I have to say I been watching your vids almost everyday for 2 weeks and thank you so much for the content. First time using fresco and I have learned so much
But the inking feature it’s just paying?
Are you asking if that’s a paid feature? No, the only thing you need the paid version for is adding your own brushes, and it also gives you more creative cloud storage space.
Sorry about your dog! Take all the time you need.
Thank you.
This was so helpful to see done. Looks like crazy fun too 🫡❤️🔥
