Thanks Steve - takes me back to when you and Rexxie would guile me to live in Australia with the promise of incredible fishing on RHFA's. Been here for 2 decades now - thanks mate :)
Ah the memories of Coffs Harbour...my old stomping ground.. Snapper in the winter and Spanish mackerel in the summer.. along with some great small marlin fishing... I live in Glastone these days and the fishing here is (although different species) as superb as Coffs.. thanks Starlo for yet another great video..
You've gotta do something to promote your channel! I used to watch you on TV as a kid, then occasionally on some DVD's and then nothing. I've noticed your RUclips channel has been around for a while now but only managed to stumble upon it by luck. I'm sure your old fans would like to know you're on YT regularly.
Thanks for that. Not really sure how to get the word out there apart from Facebook and Instagram. But it’s slowly growing. Feel free to spread the word! 👍
Very nice session. Excellent fish. I like the anchor lift method and will try next time out. Regretfully (eating wise), snapper are protected where I am for another 2 years but catch and release is fun when they take the bait before the whiting do! 🐟 🐠
YESSSS that is exactly how to dispatch your fish I can NOT eat fish unless it has been ikijimed and bled PROPERLY it really removes that "fishy" flavour!!
Thanks 👍 "Are there any questions?" "Thank your mother for the rabbits!" With Rexy doing it a bit tough at the moment, I thought it might be a rather nice tribute to the Big Bearded Burbler... Wishing him all the best.
Pink snapperThe rod wacker, Lines are peeling and like kids, we too are squealin. As the oceans waters are rollin and rockin,Our burley goes in and the sea birds start flockin. Our rods start bending, the snapper are biting, our reels are screamin ahhh its frightening. The sun is warm, the day is at its best, fishin with mates, the scene is set.
I’ve caught a fair few snapper on fly over the years, best being a fish of about 18 pounds over in WA back in the day. Yes, they love a fly if you can get one in front of them.

Hi Starlo. Yet another action packed, screaming drag session and a fine catch of some very juicy delicious Snapper. Well mate. The anchor retrieval trick is a brilliant thing. Thanks for the show. All the best.
Well Steve once again you have made us lounge fishos fill even more envies than ever if the sight off thoughts reds don't get your bum up and out I don't know what will .keep up the good work I can fill my bum moving now.👍👍
@@StarloGetsReel thanks. How significant is the difference between the Tranx 200 and 300? Which model is best for snapper? What would be a really great rod for the Tranx 200 or 300 for snapper fishing in lieu of the older rod you have? I’m really keen to buy a Tranx and good suitable rod for snapper… Cameron
@@Camh1968 the Tranx 300 holds a fair bit more line than the 200. I'd probably go the 300 for snapper. Have a look at any of the light/medium jig and slow pitch rods in the current Shimano line-up to find something that suits... they change models so fast I sometimes have trouble keepin up! 😉
Great viewing Starlo, really enjoyed it! Is there any chance you could team up with Kaj Buschy for a trout video soon? That would be nice after all these years!
I was about to say must be glen when I saw the Alvey being used or John Ashley lol, like that you both are using non typical outfits for this sort of offshore reef fishing.
100%, Iki straight away then bleed, put on ice slurry. In my experience if you are not catching snapper, you are fishing too heavy .... especially the lead!

im curious since snapper will come right up in the burly trail have you ever thought of trying to crack one on the fly rod?

Thanks for the video.
Can you please repeat name of that rod you use with that Tranx reel?
What size Tranx reel?
Cameron
200 Tranx on an old Shimano Lucanus Medium. But those rods aren't made any more. :(

Nice fish, you being getting or seeing any cuttlefish down your way. Looks like another poor showing this year around the Gong
No, I really don't see cuttlies locally down this way.

Spot on.
😅a lot of these fishing videos show the people NOT wearing life jackets??
I always wear one where and when appropriate, or legally mandated. That doesn’t yet mean all the time. 😉
