Like this show or not, or whatever reservations one may have about the concept of luxury grunge, this was an ICONIC collection.

Me in 2020: still thinks this show, which really set a tone for the 90s, was amazing and still finds inspiration in the collection

Love the look of all these Perry Ellis designs! The layers and fabric combinations are gorgeous: the creation of a new Barbie! The long, lean green dress Shalom is modeling at 8:30 is the best of the show! It is pure gamine enchantment: i adore it!
christ the models today got N.O.T.H.I.N.G. compared to turlington, banks, moss, campbell, harlow, christensen etc....

the first show to really show how fashion is inspired by music and culture. fashion, music, and culture had always mixed but never for all to see and never so obviously. a few things in the collection could still be worn today (short shorts, Birkenstock's, skull caps, crop tops)

For me, when Shalom poses and pirouettes from 8:30 to 8:35, it is the penultimate and pure and perfect expression and illumination of her beauty, innocence, coquettish enchantment, and gamine-gracefulness. It is singular and constant as a
bright and beaming star in the moonlit sky.

My guess is that the models knew Marc Jacobs had been fired so they naturally, understandably were "bummed" and felt badly for him. But, then, he started his own design line and made better history than P.E. :))

It seems obvious that the Creative Director of this show asked for "deadpan" or "edgy" attitude, but Tyra can't turn off her "colorful" way.
lginpdx I worked on this collection. Marc made a point to tell Tyra to turn down her normal walk but as you can see that did not work.

Look, I Love the pieces, would wear them back then and still would now, but as a massive grunge fan there is absolutely nothing grunge about this collection. A few flannel shirts under jackets, a couple of beanies and some combat boots doesn’t make it grunge. I cringe every time the words Marc jacob’s and grunge are put into the same sentence.
