- Enjoy a short tour of the beautiful Villa San Michele in Anacapri. The story begins when the Swedish born doctor, Axel Munthe, first visited Capri when he was just 17 years old. He walked up the Phoenician Steps to Anacapri and as he passed the Chapel of San Michele he knew that someday he would build his home there. Years later, he came back to Capri and purchased the property and began building his villa.

Vicente me contó que en su infancia veía la isla y que quería visitarla alguna vez. Muchos años después fue a verla acompañado por su esposa. Hace un tiempo quería ver un video bonito de esta hermosa villa San Michele. Deseo cumplido.😍
Beautiful! Hermoso video!
Axel Munthe wrote a best selling book c.1930 entitled "The Story Of San Michele" There's lots of copies on Ebay. I'm hoping it tells about his building of the villa...
I bought an old copy of the book online....but..i never read it. :)
Read the book, please. It will give you a much better idea of the excitement and romance of the building of San Michele, than this rather pedestrian video.
👍
I suggest this video would be far better without music in it. We don't hear music walking around these places, so why would we hear music in this video? With music in the video, this is far less immersive and enjoyable for the viewer. The wonderful thing about your ProWalks videos is that most of them do *not* have music, so the viewer much more feels like they are actually right there as they watch the video, seeing and *hearing* that environment in the video.
This was disillusioning to see, after having read the book many times since I was a schoolgirl. Munthe was known to be a bit of a fabulist, but the gardens seemed very ordinary, and it was awful to see the tourists sitting eating and drinking, in full view. I know commercialisation is necessary to keep these places going, but I wish it could have been placed less obtrusively. At least they couldn't alter the views!
