Speedgoat 6 runner here. I use it on mixed terrain. It‘s perfect for me. Stiffness just right, not overly stiff. I hate wobbly shoes, and on steep slopes, you absolutely must have a stiffer shoe. Grip is amazing. I was running down wet grass and mud. It just grips firmly. The shoe is fast enough for me on flat tarmac. Sub 4:00 no problem. The shoe rolls nicely to the tip and pushes forward. And besides, the shoe DOES NOT GET DIRTY. How did they do that? I would buy it again. This is a really helpful shoe that does a wide variety of terrain.
We tried our best to deliver a review on the Speedgoat 6 with our ultra marathon crew but unfortunately every one of our trail specialists are out with injury. I've ran in nearly every speedgoat since v1 but I'm also coming back from a fractured foot so was only able to get in limited miles. Jon stepped up big time and got well over 50 miles on a wide variety of terrain. While he doesn't classify himself as a true trail runner, he still knows his stuff and is pretty quick on the trails. Regardless we wanted to provide something rather than call off the video. Hoping to be back with some of our regular trail specialists in the future. -Connor
Good to know the 6 is out and being reviewed. But as for reviews, I'll search for others, done by trail runners, not a road runner and someone who didn't run it in.

Hilarious. Both reviewers clearly didn't like the shoe. But they both pulled their punches. It's almost like they didn't want to piss off Hoka. Why even release the review then?
I wouldn't agree that we didn't like the shoe. Have I ran in Speedgoats I like more? Sure, the Evo still is my favorite version of any Speedgoat in the series. But this version in general still feels like a Speedgoat which has been a favorite over the years and it lost weight which is always a good thing. It's a little stiffer than past versions which I think some people will really like, while some people may wish it was more flexible. But overall, besides Jon's heel fit issue which is a common issue he has with lots of shoes, I think we'd both give it a 7.5/10. Not our first pick on the trails but there is nothing inherently wrong with the shoe and if your looking for lots of cushioning and traction, you really cant go wrong. -Connor
Put over 300 miles in my Hoka Speedgoat 5 and really had hot spot blister in the narrow midfoot (big problem for with with Hoka shoes in general) and they'd always come loose and I'd have to re-tie them quite a few times throughout each run... Looking for my next trail shoes and hearing really good things about the Nike Zegama 2 so might go that direction. Overall I'm starting to notice that New Balance is more accommodating and wider toe box which is much welcomed.
I've got probably 500 miles on my speedgoat 4's. And I too have had to really latch down the laces. I finally started doing a double loop thing that has kept them tied without fail for 40+ milers
@EamonnCottrell Funny because the more I ran in them the more I figured them out with the fit, but never seamless. Like 70 miles in the bottom sole started peeling off and I put it back in place with some super glue and has been fine ever since. Got my orange, white, and green Zegama 2 and haven't ran in them yet but wow do I have to say they feel very comfortable, fit really well and wider than expected for Nike. Will definitely be doing a review on them.
Loved the review! Dont listen to the naysayers, it is great to get someone with an outside perspective. Trail shoes should not be so stiff and it's about time someone said it. In my opinion it is a lazy way to provide protection underfoot but it completely ruins ground feel. Also these midsoles do not need to be this firm. I run in my NB Rebel V3s on trail all the time with their Fuel Cell foam. It isnt nearly as unstable and scary as people make it out to be. There's definitely a few things trail shoes can take from the road play book. Personally Im excited to try the Zegama 2.
I have the Zegama 2’s and they are quite stiff. Even more than the NNormal Tomir 2.0. It’s nice to have Vibram on them. I’ve reviewed over on my channel if you are interested. Cheers.

These sneakers dont sound too inspiring, but thanks for the honesty. And 38mm of stack. That's so high. I always went with the Torrents.... but even those are having the stack increased substantially in V4, so as it is no longer the same shoe; like the Mach. The Mach 5 was the best shoe i ever owened to be honest, but the Mach 6 is no longer the same shoe. 8mm of extra stack in those and it has changed them completely. They have gone from a sports car feel to another boring luxury sedan which are what the Clifton's were. Hoka need to bring back a shoe exacting like the Mach 5 for the road and a trail version. They have no shoe know for the road for their customers who like that lower to the ground sporty and nimble feel. Had to get a pair of New Balance Rebel V4. I did stock up on some Mach 5s and stored them away in my wardrobe though 😅
I owned 3 pairs of speed 🐐 5 ( 2E) . Generally i like the shoe. It has decent comfort and the grip is generally acceptable in muddy terrain. The vibram grip could be better . It claimed to have 5 mm of lugs depth but somehow i feel it has lesser when I compare to Nnormal Tomir 5 mm lugs depth. The flaring design of the heel does invite small rocks & debris into the shoe😂
Stiffness is the last thing I want to hear about this new shoe. I have been looking for a good trail shoe lately that feels right to me. The first shoe I tried was Brooks Cascadia 17 and was immediately turned off by how stiff it felt. I definitely prefer more flex. I tried Brooks Caldera 7 for more flex but that shoe was just too big and clunky. I'm currently testing the Terrex Agravic Speed. So far so good, but keeping my eyes open.
Appreciate you letting us know about the new SG 6. But this video missed the mark. More of a commercial than a review. As an online retailer, you should know people care about what's changed and how's the fit. Why have a road runner review a technical trail shoe?
What a bizarre review. Like watching a car crash in slow motion. " here's Jon a road runner with 'low ankle bones'...ya!? who's never ran through a puddle in his life... Painful.

Sometimes no review is better than a half assed review.
Bit of a tough listen, I wish you had trail runners talk about them

@@runningwarehouse well hire the more rubust athletes then lmao
Trail runners getting injured. I can so relate to that 😂

Exactly
Ya, I can never understand why they name these videos “reviews” when it’s really just a promo video
Who hurt you bro?

Thank you guys for the honest review
the 4 is still the best design
Mine have just fallen apart..... I am workin' throught it.....😪
V4 was great but Speedgoat EVO is still a favorite in the office. -Connor
Agreed. Models 3 and 4 were peak Speedgoat
Long live the 4
Hope I can get the V5 on sale now.

@@BroccLeeAV Yeah I'm looking forward to trying something new...I actually may hop on the Topo train and check out the mtn racer 3's
Wish they would bring back the speedgoat 4
I thought a lot of people hated the 4, wanted the 3 back and then were finally excited again about the 5 lol. Man, we hate change (as a species).
I loved 3 and was fine with 4. Dumped the 5s after a few weeks. Waiting to see if 6 is better or I'm moving to another brand.
Absolutely love the content! You guys are amazing! Love the fact this felt more like a review as well.
Like from Spain. Thanks Conor and Jon. Cheers.
You will never go wrong with these shoes..
I am so hoping that the cushions are more like SG3 or 4. Whatever they did to version 5 did not work for me. Fingers crossed.
You guys trail shoes should not be stiff .Stiffness and rigidity are not effective for efficient climbing / technical running.
Complete Vibram outsole please, not partial with midsole exposed to the terrain.

Try Agility Peak 5 from Merrell, looks awesome so far
The Mafate Speed 4 is a step above all of the Speedgoat models. Definitely give it a look.

King of the trail until you try on a serious trail shoe.
Amazing, road runners reviewing trail shoe 😂
They should talk less and show the shoe more
a good shoe review needs to talk about sizing ... without you are nothing
