Yes… it turns out that a 70 year old Plein air artist can still learn many things. I am always learning and wanted to thank you for your wonderful videos.
Oh my gosh, Emily! This is so tempting and I have not enjoyed “plein air” myself. I guess I work slow and lack confidence. But this is everything to set up so easily. We travel and camp and I miss my studio and painting so much when we are gone.
Another nice video Emily! Question for you: if you were to sit while painting, which plein air set up would you prefer, the Pro Advanced Easel or the New Wave set up?
Both are great for sitting! If I am using the easel in a studio setting, the Pro Advanced is sturdier and has a wider area for your paper and palette. For hiking/plein air/travel, the New Wave is MUCH more portable.
I have had this set up for several years and today just ordered the 6x8 New Wave U-go. I was interested in what you have to say about the comparison. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you for this great review!! I'm glad to know it is sturdy. I'm curious if you have a preference between this one and the New Wave u.go? Does one feel more sturdy than the other? I'm trying to decide between the two, and think I prefer the size of the u.go, but want to make sure the top doesn't fold back when in use. Since it isn't really designed for watercolor, I would need to include a small board behind the watercolor sheets.Thank you so much!
Since I do a lot of hiking, I prefer the New Wave u.go setup. It fits in my backpack. The En Plein Air pro easel is too large to hike with, but I love it for group figure painting sessions, or in cases where I don’t have to walk far with it. It can also work as an in-home easel if you like to paint upright or more tilted.
Yes it is a struggle in Colorado with drying very quickly. Great video. Where was this beach? It doesn’t look familiar. Kids are so funny. That water was probably freezing. Tfs
The lightest setup would just be a journal with a clip on palette. I do have a video with a lightweight inexpensive setup here: ruclips.net/video/I_uDkBXi5fc/видео.html
I have just started watching your videos on plein air watercolor. LOVELY, helpful & inspiring. I have subscribed but do not see how to get the discount you mention on the easel you demonstrated. How do I do get that code?
Hi Priscilla! The discount is only available to members of my Watercolor Mastery online school. The En Plein Air Pro website offers their easel at a better prince than amazon, though!
This is Kathy (I’m on my husband’s RUclips acct) this is so cool - we moved here to Colorado about 2.5 years ago and I recognize Standley Lake! I painted a picture with a stand of trees in the foreground by the lake. We moved from Houston so it has been quite the change getting used to the lack of humidity. I found an art gallery in Westminster that I hope to visit soon.
Thank you Emily, I’ve been thinking about this set. I tend to use a chair when plein air painting- do you think this would work as well lower and seated?
This looks like a fantastic set up Emily- and thank you for a great review- Pity it doesn’t appear to be available in the UK yet but I will keep my eyes open! Take care 😊
I really like the fact that this has everything you need all in one place. Maybe if I had something like this set up in my home it would encourage me to paint more. Can you adjust the height for sitting? I have never painted outside or taken them with me when I go somewhere, maybe I should think about trying that. Great video, your kids are adorable.
This is really nice. I don't do a lot of plein air painting myself but I prefer to stand when I paint and I currently don't have a desk tall enough for me to paint without getting a crick in my neck from looking down. I am definitely going to check this out.. (side note - currently unavailable on Amazon...:( )
Yes, it's so helpful for the sake of perspective to have your board upright! You can buy the easel directly from the En Plein Air Pro website if it's not available on Amazon.
@@EmilyOlsonArt Nope, that's not the one you are showing. The palette tray does not have two holes for two water cups. I did not look any further, but I imagine there are other differences, too.

Yes even though I don’t paint outdoors, I love watching you do it!
Thanks, Rhonda!
I really enjoyed this video and would love to see more plein air painting. Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure!

Very fun seeing this in action!

A terrific review Emily, thank you
Thank you!
Hi Emily, as I am a senior with a shoulder injury what Plein air easel do you recommend? Do share tips to lighten the load

The smaller backpack version is just as nice.

We love Colorado!

It definitely would work! You’d just shorten the easel legs. 🙂

Yes you can! I think many people do use theirs at home.
Wow. That is a product I'd really like to have. Will need to see if I can get it in the EU.
Oh, I want this, wish it was closer to Xmas time! 🤣
I own this plain air set. Still trying to get used to it. And I think I need a larger back pack
Yes, a large backpack is a good idea!
Love!

Strange this one isn't available or even shown on their website.
Hi Mike! It is available. Here is the link: enpleinairpro.com/collections/packages/products/advanced-series-watercolor-package

Just checked the US Amazon site and this item is already out of stock ;-(
Oh wow! No way! En Plein Air Pro has their own website, too--I don't know if they ship internationally though. :/
I just clicked on the amazon link and it showed in stock. Just an FYI.
