In 1970 I was 17 years old and I would dream of this watch when I saw it on a pawn shop for $5,000 then you could have bought a car for 5000 time flew and after having three daughters and two sons never could afford to get one some say well why can't your kids buy it for you now my daughters have their children my two boys are in the Marines I am retired and I just don't have enough time to save what it's worth today to all the young people out there make the effort to buy it now before it's too late try hard to realize your dreams when you're young

For an all gold watch, it doesn’t look all that gaudy. At least not to my eyes anyway. If I had the dosh, I’d definitely purchase one of these. And yellow gold is getting quite rare to find in high-end watches nowadays. Everybody including most watch brands seem to prefer rose gold.

the thing I love about rolex’s Is they’ve proven to retain their value. You can enjoy them for ten years and still get a very large amount of your money back if you kept it in clean condition (in some cases even over what you paid but for the mass majority of people, a watch is too enough not an investment piece). Is it worth 40k? Depends who you ask, definitely doesn’t cost 40k to make. But there’s lots of demand for it so even if you pay 40k today, you can be confident you’ll get at least 30k back (or more) whenever you choose to sell it
borna asi i got mine for 45 after tax canadian and its still goin for easily over 40-45k preowned on chrono 24, super watches....let me kno if you sell for 30k i will instantaneously take it off you with joy
40mm arnt even 5 years old yet. The 36mm all gold day date is literally half the price it was. These watches for not retain vaule at all your an idiot.

This is the exact model Day-Date I would purchase, if I could afford to (I can’t!) from the 40mm to the gold dial with baguette cut diamond indices to the C3 yellow gold of the entire watch/bracelet itself. The only yellow gold watch with bracelet and diamonds I would consider. As my tastes are usually far more subdued. But this just looks right to me.
True. The gold day date with presidential bracelet is the best watch to ever own. I would personally prefer a white dial to tone down the loudness though. Probably the only gold watch anybody can wear without being called a pimp.

I agree that the 36mm is the better looking watch. The larger size looks silly on most people. Like a dude trying to compensate by wearing this massive watch on his girly wrist.
I had one and sold it, it’s very nice and all that but you constantly worried about it getting damaged or stolen plus people would charge me double for everything I wanted to buy, I will buy another one when I retire 😂

I bought mine in white gold, very undercover and can be a daily. Very few could pull the yellow gold off daily. Well made watch too apart from being a design classic

That Watch is the epitome of excellence....the Day date oozes Success. I Dont think another watch gets my attention as quick as someone wearing this piece. I Would prefer the 36 mm...I always admired Tom Landry and Jack Nicklaus wearing their Rolex Day date.
It was actually LBJ that owned and wore it, JFK never wore his because it had an inscription from Marlin Monroe.

Very nice watch I bought mine back in March and will never part with it.
I want one with a diamond bezel and maybe a little smaller because my wrists are small. I love 18 karat yellow gold all the way.
This specific model esp with the diamonds is iconic. One of the best ones by Rolex ever made.
I worked all year I'm very proud of my 40mm dd i don't ever see the silver dial im also glad I waited and bought the better looking one in my opinion champagne is amazing also but the silver dial is true pimp!!!

I have worn very many watches, and to me the Rolex day date will make you feel wonderful. I am not a diamond guy but really think the 40 mm is stunning.

The value of the gold is >9k or 20% of the MSRP of the watch, the other 80% R&D, marketing, mostly hype etc. So the price to value for what you get is imo extremely poor.
Just thinking of the VAT the government gets every time one of these changes hands from import, to re-seller, to collector, to re-seller...
In cashless society it will be ruff.

LOL. It didn't start with Kennedy. He didn't even wear his, as it was a gift from his mistress Marilynn Monroe that Jackie was clueless about - he told his aide to "get rid of it" when it showed up with a loving engraving from Marilynn on it's back. Eisenhower was gifted one from Rolex in the 50's and wore it a good bit. LBJ was famous for wearing his every day, and it actually was marketed by Rolex as "The President" in their print ads because of LBJ's appreciation for the watch.

Rolex is king of steel sport watches. For any amount over 12k I rather get an Patek or ALS etc.
But a Patek is 70k
Anything is worth what people are willing to pay. Most rolex watch are 5-10k and dealers up sale the hell out them.

I'm a guy and I prefer the 💎 indices. It just looks a bit more special. I would personally go for the rose gold version with a brown dial and 💎 indices.

Get a 7 to 12K president gold watch to start with first. If you really like it, go for the modern version.

The president are the 1803’s this is the updated version, can’t be called the president. It’s not vintage enough.
Still, it’s a better watch because of the updated complications, the weight, the sapphire and the size.
Having said this the vintage 1803’s the true “president” should be valued more due to its iconic historical nature

This is my kind of watch. Patek and AP are over hyped. Presidential watch is my favorite kind, and it's very good value for the price. 40K is a good deal. If I don't spent over 100K in the past few months, I might snap one presidential Day-Date up. The down side of wearing this watch is that it attracts attention from the bad guys. This is a stunning classic watch nevertheless.
Cris Yorke roles is overhyped, yes it keeps the value, but are very common, Pater and Ap are part of the holy trinty roles is not, Pater overall wins the battle as they are not hyped by celebritys
