      Yep. A singular bad review means nothing. A group of bad reviews of a good product means nothing. A bad product that constantly prompts bad reviews, bad word of mouth, etc. will kill a company.
      When reviews lie, people who notice it pop up to contradict them. If no one shows up, then that says a lot. It's like movies critics hate but audiences love and vice versa. Barbie and Joker, vs Captain Marvel 2, Morbius, and Madam Web. Right leaning critics hated the first, left leaning loved it, audiences loved it a lot. There is a massive conflict of interest with tech reviews which you are omitting. Reviewers actually have a lot of stake in being on the good side of hyped/popular companies because they are themselves competing with other reviewers in terms of who gets the most exclusive insight, or the first to get a product...etc. That means that every single youtube tech channel should be considered compromised to an extent. For example, iJustine won't get her shiny apple products before we can buy them if she starts poorly reviewing the next iphone; IGN won't get behind the scenes access to the most popular video games if they start giving bad ratings to Call of Duty, etc...

    • @nerofl89
      @nerofl89 Месяц назад +17

      That's almost entirely due to their socio-cultural system which puts a lot of emphasis on how others perceive the individual and/or company as a whole even by small actions. This cultural phenomenon also informs their legal handling of accusations like defamation/slander/libel. While most Western/Westernized countries see truth as an absolute defense to such accusations, the Japanese do not see it as an absolute defense although it can be part of your defense against such accusations through social pressures caused by their cultural mindset. You can see other examples of this in Japan where younger actors and actresses will often hide that they are dating as simply dating someone can affect the person's public image, though this is slowly changing it is still extremely strong.

    • @ArchiveRagtagMoe

    That’s why consumers should always listen to reviews from multiple sources. If one person says it’s bad while five others say it’s good, look into that one person and decide for yourself whether they can be trusted. Just because more people say something is good or bad doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the case. The vocal majority could be sponsored and praising a bad product, or alternatively they’re right about a product being bad

    • @An4lAvenger
      @An4lAvenger Месяц назад +2

      It's also important to check your bias. I suspect YT algorithm will push creators with similar beliefs or style to one's you already watch. So if one took a hidden sponsorship, it's possible that others you were recommended by YT did as well.
      Checking multiple reviewers won't do you any good if you are stuck in the brainrot section of YT with all paid shills.

    There wasn't enough time for Fisker to go out of business from the review. Clearly the company was already of failing life support. He is 100% correct. Bad products are the root of the problem, not the reviewer. He has some clout but not enough to kill a good product. Its literally the best thing to do to make better good products. How many times has a product been recalled because it overheated and burned someone? The only reason why is because of people giving their review of it and input it. Without those people would be burned and dismembered all over the place. Reviews, good and bad, is necessary for better business; if they can't handle it then don't be a business.
    I meant positive and negative reviews make things happen, but also Sonic the Hedgehog movie. If we didn't give our negative reviews of that trailer and how Sonic looked and that it felt like one of those 2010 movies of 80s made cartoon characters then the movie wouldn't be at Sonic 3 with Keanu as Shadow with good reviews.

    When you raise an issue after buying online - they try to extort a 5* review from you before correcting the service. Bought a home sauna kit & 1st popped electrically within 15min of running, replacement lasted 30min but same issue - Capacitor blew. Each time they asked me to change my review up front b4 finally refunding purchase. A review is just that - the experience at the time, you can't undo an experience. Better that they do it right the 1st time - unfortunately many online purchases are thru agents selling from bulk warehouses so they never inspect the goods.

    As far as i remember, Fisker have always had quality control issues. Anyone remember the recalls on the Spyder? recalls since 2015 until now. I dont think the Ocean is a coincidence...
    IMO, Bad products kill companies, the bad reviews could potentially save a company if they act in time.

    Didn't they manufacture some VR headsets with attached explosives as art project? You can have SAO at home.

    As someone who relies solely on Negative reviews for anything, no Negative Reviews are an integral part of the system, it lets you know if disliking a product is aligned with taste, or is potentially just a subjectively bad feature that no one would enjoy.
    At least on steam i only rely on Negative reviews, as you get way more information out of them, then the positive ones, what are the fundamental issues with this game, and would i enjoy it knowing that they are there?
    Same can be applied to online shops and stuff, especially since a lot of positive reviews tend to be fake.

    I don't buy a lot of tech stuff apart from my PC parts but still like to keep up because I find it interesting to see where things are going.

    reviews are so powerful that people can destroy the trajectory of a game/franchise by review bombing it even if its a good game. for something like network issues on launch or a political stance

    The "ltt" drama with the watercooling that they sold but still they didnt go down i think... I will look up reviews and see 🙈 f the reactions are the samebfor everyone or if there negative for everyone. But if the reviews are mixed i will try it but i will make up my own mind then.
