- Me Reciting RashmiRathi.. This is dedicated to all my friends who have time and again sought that I recite and upload this video on youtube. This is also a tribute to our National Poet Shri Ramdhari Singh Dinkar who has created such profound poems. His contribution to Hindi literature through his work has touched so many heart and souls.
This poem starts when Karn the famous son of Kunti becomes the commander of Kaurava's army. The poem has all the nuances of Karna's battle with Arjun to establish supremacy. It becomes a little touchy when Karna's chariot gets stuck in the mud and while he tries to get this out Arjun confronts him. This then evokes a dialog between Karn and Lord Krishna over righteousness. In the end when Karn dies, Lord Krishna pays homage and talks about the greatness of this son of Kunti.

Lord Krishna : Karna is superior to arjuna and all warriors of three worlds can’t withstand wielder of vijaya, Karna. He is righteous in nature hence popular as ‘vrisha’.
Lord Shiva/Lord Brahma : Karna is a hero and deserve respect like Bhishma
Lord Parshurama : No kshtriya is equal to karna in battle
Ved Vyass : Righteous always consider him righeous such is vrisha
Yudhistira : There is no archer equal to karna on earth and I couldn’t obtained sleep for 13 years due to fear of karna
Arjuna : Karna is looking like destroyer, lord shiva. I do not find any way to run away from invincible bhargavastra shot by karna
Bhima : Karna had overpowered arjuna by crushing his weapons and his skill seems to be amazing today
Sanjaya : Karna had destroyed illusion of ghatotkach in such way no archer of universe ever achieved such feats in night battle
Kunti : Karna is a mighty warrior who adopted side of duryodhana that enhance my fear and today I will go to obtain his favour
Dhritrashtra : Death can’t touch radheya as long as he hold weapon vijaya
Shalya : Yudhistira begged me to demorlize karna but today I have realized truth that there is no warrior equal to karna
Bhishma : You are superior among humans and equal to 2 maharatha
Jarasandha : I have conquered more than 90 mighty kings but finally surrender before karna

I am a big Dinkar fan myself aur unki kavitaon mein kuch roohani baat hai chahe phir voh Veer ras ho, ya karuna... I am really glad to find people like yourself, who have such profound interest in Dinkarji's poetry. I would certainly upload two more sargs (2nd and 5th ) respectively as I know them by heart just like 7th. Will learn the 4th also some day so that I could recite that as well. Thanks again. Adbhut!! Sir Main Rashmirathi ko bohat waqt se padh raha hoon...kabhi kalpana nahi ki thi itna powerful path ho sakta hai. I'm not exaggerating, this is the most powerful, the best recitation of Rashmirathi I've ever seen. What a tribute to Rashtrakavi Dinkar. You've inspired me to learn saptam sarg and I'm almost with it. Please also cover Tritiya sarg.

Wonderful recitation. This epic has been my favorite since 1960. My attraction could also be explained by the fact that I used to see Mr. Dinkar very often in my neighborhood.
I wonder if Rashmirathi can be edited intothe form of a stage play. Like Shakespeare plays. I contacted some play groups at San Francisco but they do not have the wherewithal to make such adaptation. Maybe Mr. Upadhyay can try his hand at this.
