Airship Dreams: Escaping Gravity Evaluation

Airship Dreams: Escaping Gravity was a heritage-led artistic enquiry into Bedford’s identity as the historical centre of the UK’s airship industry.
The project ran from Summer 2020 to March 2022 and featured an immersive artwork and community-curated exhibition exploring the spectacle and utopianism of UK airship heritage running from 10 July 2021 to 28 November 2021 alongside an extensive programme of education workshops, talks, and virtual community engagement activity.
It was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council England, Gale Family Trust, The Harpur Trust, Bedford College, Airship Heritage Trust and supported by Bedford Borough Council:
29,197 people engaged with Airship Dreams through a whole range of activities and resources. 7,508 of these visited the exhibition.
