Man looks like I’m canceling motortrend. Dirt every day was one of the main reasons i pay for it. Hope to see some amazing content on this platform from you both. Cheers y’all and best wishes.
I don’t know how long ago this was filmed but I’m here to tell you it’s way easier to pull the body. I work at the plant in Toledo as a mechanic and we pull the body when we have to change an engine. 2 guys can have a body off in 45 minutes.
Ha, worked with my neighbor (younger guy) to help him install his lift. He had ZERO concept of returning tools when we started. I walked away for ten minutes and came back to him literally sitting in a pile of tools and drill bits and sockets. Took some time but I finally got him tuned up on the importance of putting tools back so you know where they are as you work. Great series.
The lighting works better from the front, not your back pocket. Lol. Sorry to hear no more DED. Officially canceled my subscription to motor trend on demand. Best of luck to you and Dave. Can't wait to see how Newb Sock turns out.
DED actually got me and my family into 4WD'ing. Nothing serious but being able to adventure and camp less accessible areas, everyone loves it. Watching dirt heads have so much fun made us want to try it out. I can confirm it is fun.
I was experiencing some audio issues. Fred sounds real quiet but the impact and clanking parts were SUPER loud. Other than that, loving the format as well. It's got a low key feel.
@@stevec5280 Yes, mic input in the shop will always be a struggle unless you have a dedicated person sampling for you. Can't do miracle with one source...
I really enjoyed Dirt Every Day and cancelled my Motor Trend subscription as soon as I heard you guys were not renewed. I will continue to watch both Dirt Head Shed and 4xFredWilliams. Keep up the good work.
Good advice on the pictures, before cell phones I used to draw everything, it's also fun when the same component has different length or size bolts i.e. "theyre all the same, but the long bolt goes in this hole" 😀
Wish I had known about this sooner. I have split the body from the chassis a dozen times at least to replace engines and transmissions on these vehicles.
Hey Fred, I'm sure most of us "Motorheads" have attention deficit problems, I do!!! Practicing good organizational habits make the job go easier! I waste more time trying to find that damn hammer, where did I put it!!! Real good tips on putting things away & the "Baggies" too. Now I'm interested in a Wrangler.
I'm still stunned that the original engine failed with only 100k on it. I like to use rolling tables for tools. I also clear an area or set up a big table for all the parts I removed and the hardware. Sometimes I've even taped the bags of hardware to the parts if I think it might be a while before they will be going back in. Pictures are a good idea as well.
That "tick" in the 3.5 Penta Star V6 is a rocker arm that goes bad from the factory. Pretty much every one of those 3.5v6 have this issue yet Chrysler won't work on it. Easy fix and no more tick.
Great tips. I used them as much as possible while working in shops over the years. Some of the lessons were learned the hard way, just like you explained.
In addition, keep your tool boxes close to the area you are working on. If you have to walk 100 ft to get new tools you'll start to get lazy and not return them!
There’s a great episode of mr beast on joe Rogan where he talks quite a bit about how to boost views/please the algorithm. Keep it up. Still can’t believe DED is cancelled.
You should get with Dave on who he used for an intro/song I love the videos though Fred! Keep them coming. Hope to see you guys do a collaboration someday!
So I have a 94 YJ with a 4.0, AX-15, & 231 T-case. I would like to swap the axles as the rear is leaking and I would like to ditch the front with the CAD system. But I can't afford custom axles. Would a set of the newer JK or JL axles be a possible swap? I can do some fab work so I could strip the brackets and weld on spring plates and shock mounts if this is a good idea. I am running 33's now and I am planning on 35's later. Your thoughts if you you have time. Thanks in advance.
You might have an easier time finding axles from a TJ. A set of Dana 44s from a Rubicon would be ideal... And while the axles are off would be a good time to upgrade the suspension to something better than leaf springs. Of course, that depends on your budget too... I really need to re-gear my TJ, plus I think the front u joints are going bad, plus I've got serious death wobble - it never ends LOL...
I'm catching up, but what is with all the audio being on the right channel? Is that fixed in future videos? Love the content, but almost can't watch as I wear headphones and it's wigging me out.
If I had the shop space (and lift) and time. This would be something I'd Like to accomplish with my son. But RC cars will have to do. Axial and Traxxas.
The 3.6 Pentastar is a good engine. Decent power. Great fuel economy. But Chrysler dropped the ball in the valvetrain design, among probably other things. I've seen several with rocker arm issues. There's a recall for alot of them.
@4xfredwilliams the audio is only coming out of the right channel. This is probably also why other people are complaining about not much sound or no sound.
Good luck with it sir! Also I've seen some years of chargers or something that have a strait pipe coming off of those motors instead of the cat if you don't need that much emissions in your state
Man looks like I’m canceling motortrend. Dirt every day was one of the main reasons i pay for it. Hope to see some amazing content on this platform from you both. Cheers y’all and best wishes.
I did and put DED as the number one reason why.
Cancelled mine to. No reason to pay for something when the best they had was cancelled
Same here fam. Motortrend shouldn't have canceled these guys. They're awesome.
Yup, I enjoy Friebuburgers shows, but not enough to keep a subscription just for those couple of shows.
Did the same.

Ziplocks and a sharpie make reassembly so much easier.

I was like "what is that light following him around ?" then he turned his flashlight in his pocket off lol.
I thought it was some weird glare following him lol.
Came here for the same comment
I'm hoping we have lots of dirt daily going forward.
I think we all do
Love the content. Just a friendly note, your sound is only out the right channel
Love his content but the audio is garbage. Ditch the GoPro and use a dslr or mirrorless and a Rode shotgun mic.
That edit at the beginning was flawless. #hype. That was amazing and you should be proud. I am loving these videos, keep up the great work!
Loving the new channel - in fact, I think its better than the old show - you are giving SO much more advice and detail!!!!! Keep up the content!
Love the slow pace, lots of tips and tricks. Gonna be paying attention to this channel
Way to go Fred 😃
I love seeing how fast your subscriber numbers are growing.
Video quality is good, and content is stellar as usual, can't wait to see what's in store for the future. Keep up the good work!

I have been enjoying this NewbSock series.
You are being all crazy organized…rad 👍🏻👍🏻
We need to boost that audio. It’s really down on output
Sounds like the balance is all the way to the right.
He'll get there, don't scare him off!
@@spiketro All constructive criticism. Still watched every minute
Photos FTW! p.s. you gotta hit the 10 minute mark to assuage the algorithm.
ok thanks!
I'm loving this Fred. Early on in DED the Tube Sock episodes were my favorite. It's poetic that we are starting fresh on the next little white Jeep.
Fred this would be a perfect jeep for a 5.7. It'd be way cooler than putting a stock motor back
Wish I had known about this sooner. I have split the body from the chassis a dozen times at least to replace engines and transmissions on these vehicles.
Man time flies when you’re enjoying watching! 👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🤘🏻🤘🏻
Always like the nifty ideas I see on the channel
Right on Fred can’t wait to see how this turns out
I'm liking the low key, straightforward approach you're using. Just let your editorial instincts take over and you'll be good.
Good find on the like new drivetrain
This is becoming my favorite RUclips series. So awesome to see it come together
I dig the more frequent content. I can’t wait for all the garbage non-compete stuff to be clear. I need more Dirt Head (combined) content.

Started watching you because your hands on and straight forward. Followed because you and Dave made great movies. Thank you

loving the longer episodes!!! woohoo!
Great content. I'm really liking this
Great progress on Newbsock. Thanks for sharing, Fred.
Nice score on the parts. Wish my Dodge Nitro came with that, not the 3.7🤨 Enjoying your work, thanks for your time🙏🖖
Just like old times - great instruction and nice details! can't wait to see what you do with this.
Good stuff Fred! Can’t wait to see this channel grow and your quality increase. You’re off to a really great start
Loving all the new content Fred!
Keep up the great content fred!
Going to be a nice build to watch. Address the rocker arm issue while its out. Might as well. Now it the time.
Glad to see you turn off your pocket flashlight. i thought I was having a stroke for a minute there. 🤣
Excellent work Fred !
Thanks for the content Fred! This stuff is awesome!
man i did a video a few years back on that exact bolt organization trick. zip lock snack baggies and a sharpie
Glad I got my 06 TJ with a 4.0.
Those wheels are gonna look rad with homemade weld on beadlocks!
That's an awesome automated flashlight you got sir

Lol 10 mins Fred …. 10 mins … RUclips is gonna get you
You and Dave need to come together on a RUclips channel. It's a no brainer.
Not sure what you did to the audio but it’s only working on the right channel. 🤦🏻♂️ Awesome video tho.

Not going to lie I was hoping for a 392 swap but good on reviving a dead jeep
Pull the body. Do drivetrain, axles and suspension all at the same time.

I bought a 68 Mustang basket case and every bolt for the entire chassis was in a battery box 😜
Geat video! Love the build. Have you thought about what lift kit your going to go with?
There is a clue in the video… Watch it again.
n00b sawk, we can rebuild it, we can make it better
I had a base model grand Cherokee with that engine and transmission. Plenty of power and on a long trip I got up to an average of 28 mpg.
Collab with Finnegan's garage!!!!!
Fred, since it appears you have some spare time these days, longer videos please.
videos are getting better! for some reason I only get audio in the right ear
Keep getting after it

For some reason the audio is only coming out of the left speaker. But otherwise, keep up the content!

Does anyone know of a standalone harness for a 3.6/8 speed? I was thinking it would be a fun driveline for a MJ
Do more serious multi-day camping 4x4ing overlanding trips.
And here I was expecting an LS swap
I'd take the body off and swap the power train as a unit.
Longer videos please!!
Just what I was thinking.
ok i can make em longer, I was kind of assuming everyone had a short attention span like I do. but I'll try and bump em up to 10-15 min at least.
