- In the early hours of Thursday morning Layla Moran - the only British MP of Palestinian heritage- received news she’d been longing to hear for months.
Her family had finally escape from Gaza. Through perilous crossings and treacherous check points a family of five - including a seventy year old grandmother and two young children- had walked to safety.
As Layla herself recognises their relief is starkly contrasted with the two million others who can’t escape. Today we hear that story.
And we ask why the Lib Dem’s have referred Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron to the ethics adviser over questions of whether he concealed what he knew about the illegality of Israel’s war. We will discuss whether there is a case for government to answer. And where the war in Gaza goes now.

15 minutes into this recording, and not a single mention of Hamas once. The true reason why this war was even started. Considering how many Hamas supporters there are inside of the UK right now, I suggest that is what should scare you more.

The question of ‘why aid can’t get through’ and ‘whether aid workers were targeted’ is aging like old milk as the events of the last few days unfold. The Israelis have been BLOCKING the aid.
Which they should have been because the aid is clearly diverted to Hamas.

The fact that the government is refusing to publish the legal advice it has been given, even in a redacted form, speaks volumes to me. It harks back to the ‘smoking guns’ controversy in Blair’s government.
I have 3 friends in Gaza I have not heard from since October.
One, a teacher, I have tried to get out for over two years. His home was already destroyed, half his family dead. Yet that is not 'imminent danger'.

The account of the MP is so moving. As John said, her family can be considered privileged, but there are still so many without any hope .
I am a lifelong Labour voter and I am absolutely furious that we have not been at the forefront of demanding an immediate ceasefire. I'd expect the Tories would defend the Israeli government to the hilt and sell arms even during this inhumane conflict. Perhaps it is the fear of being considered anti-Semitic, which is also a disgrace, but it's just the far right Israeli government that should be called out and never the Jewish people.

Yes, Israel doesn't want independent reporting but also if Israel attacks aid workers and/or claims they are terrorists then it reduces aid. The destruction of civilian infrastructure and starvation of Palestinians will mean Israel can steal Gaza and continue the theft of the West Bank.
The SNP was calling for it for months and months too. But Starmer and Hoyle silenced them.

Rules of engagement, the Israeli minister of defence said back in October that he was removing all restrictions on IDF soldiers, what do you think that meant? I think we have an illustration of what it can and I have no doubt has lead to in the sense of impunity under which the IDF is being allowed to function.
If the government advice is that we're not breaching International law, the Government should just publish it or at least show it to the other party leaders on Privy Council terms so that we can stop talking about it or not without breaking confidentiality.

It is a refreshing change to hear an MP speak about the moral course, I appreciate the need for pragmatism in government, but occasionally we should take a moral stance. Unfortunately a million miles away from the disgraceful party politicking on all sides during that lamentable SNP motion.

On March 22nd, while reducing Gaza to rubble, Israel "announced" the largest land grab in the West Bank since the Oslo Agreement was signed. International 'law' apparently doesn't apply to Israel

Because Israel controls what goes into Gaza, even from Egypt
Egypt requires approval for all goods and people going in and out of Gaza as part of their peace agreement with Israel.
Israel appears to want to drive Palestinians out of Gaza. Not sure why you think Egypt would want to enable that. Also Egypt needs agreement with Israel about what goes in.
