When the market is up, MSRP is more of a suggestion. When the market is down, space is more valuable than stock. Distro has 0 obligation to play fair with anyone, and every reason not to.
Because of the distribution power, the vending machines are rapidly appearing. The more the distributors do this, the more vending machines will be built.
Playing in the wholesale market especially on the importer side literally puts all the gate keys in your hands. We’re all lucky the hobby trends down and letting product go for MSRP makes sense occassionally even.
It's a known fact that distros are charging more for this particular set, as well as Surging at this point. Another thing people overlook is there are waaaaay more shops buying into this set (shout out to Mason of Card N All Gaming for that nugget of info, as well as his pizza party analogy to help make it super simple to understand). Because there's more people buying the sets, each shop gets a thinner slice of pizza than they normally would.
It’d be interesting to see how many more people have gained access to distribution with no store or intention to move product, no matter how big the pot, more mouths always means less food
there's also lots of smaller product being released throughout the first half of the year for prismatic evolutions, binder, poster, sticker collections, mini tins, that eevee backpack. the set isn't even out yet, hard to believe this set will be "short printed". not to mention all the new "shops" popping up all the time and distributors gaining more clients. I think that definitely factors in especially on pre-orders. 2025 will be interesting for sure.
What a nice surprise to refresh my YT and this in the feed. The lack of pauses concerned me though. Yup, greed is normal during these times. Once these bots, supplier and people get hurt or need to obtain liquidity, we'll see change. It helps if the customer votes with their wallet too.
While I may not be someone who deals with this situation at the moment, I am glad that I can always look forward to another video to catch me up on all the craziness. Thank you for doing that, and for informing our community of all this so that people can hopefully begin to get the facts straight.
I would agree that both are very possible. It's a strategic way to get a set hype and increase price for a later flood to unload and drop the prices? Almost perfect marketing will help. Hold back the majority of product and trickle it out, which will hold the value longer and produce more profits for the long picture.
Personally, I would just go to the lcs the day it’s available because they normally have some limit (usually 1 or 2) depending on how many boxes they have available.
Distributors have all the power yes but I am hearing there are more people with distribution who normally order less Pokémon have ordered more for this set. Game stores that focus on One Piece, Magic or Yu Gi Oh are buying up Prismatic. Everyone is capitalizing on this set.
I feel like the pokemon company needs to do more direct to consumer sales to help fight this. Then again that would hurt LGS’s. This whole prismatic release has been such a mess
Really good take. I do think distro hold on to a good portion of high demand products. They know the market well enough through all the poketubers and social media posts.
If supply issues were a result of distributors raising their prices, you'd still see everything in stock, but it would be more expensive. Distributors aren't going to risk catching the wrath of PCI by creating artificial scarcity. PCI would kick a distributor to the curb in a heartbeat if PCI thought the distributor was manipulating the market. These prices are not healthy for the long term and PCI knows that. You lose the casual consumer, and you lose millions of dollars. Casual consumers are not going to pay 200 bucks for a booster box that just came out. These sets probably got short printed, intentional or not. Then, you have an influx of "investors" who think they are going to get rich by buying multiple cases of this new stuff and sitting on it. This is a bubble, and it will pop.
The kind of thing you are talking about CANNOT happen at the level. There are MANY distributors competing with each other in the us market. And stores can freely choose who they buy from. If they get shafted by a distributer chances are they won't be as eager to buy from them in the future. The only way for the situation, that you are describing, to work is for all of the distributors to collude in holding product, which is a serious federal crime. That being said, it only takes 1 distributor to reneg on such a risky scheme for the whole house of cards to topple. It's not the distributers.
Distros only raise price ma AFTER release. So there’s really no point blaming distro at release. But you can bet surging sparks won’t drop below $140-160, distros already charging $130 for 1 box.
For Prismatic pre-orders I have 4 PC ETBs, 40 standard ETBs, 20 tech sticker collections, 20 poster collections, and 20 binder collections LMAO. 😂 I'm gonna sell half of it and make a small fortune. Sucks for the kids who missed out 😂
As usual, im going to shill my product again, because I'm greedy. Check out my binders cardprison.com/
4:09 MINE IS FIRST MUHAHAHAHAHAHA
I got the umbreon in Japanese.. I'm not even trying for English. Fuck these prices
Fair. Plus better texture 🗣🔥
Japanese always look better.

Right on the button 💯

1:32 I can’t say anything other than, you’re way more onto something than people will let you think … but yea that’s all I can say
You're making me feel very validated right now 😂🙏 Thank you bro
The worst thing about having real knowledge is the inability to share it. I’ll make a video in 10-15 years when I retire. It’ll be a good one

Distribution wants more money, easy as that👀
Yep pretty much!
It’d be interesting to see how many more people have gained access to distribution with no store or intention to move product, no matter how big the pot, more mouths always means less food
Facts!
Their mum and their dog wants prismatic

Point is everyone wants to make as much as they can off this product, and they know they can .
Absolutely!
I also think a lot more going retail like Walmart target etc etc
What a nice surprise to refresh my YT and this in the feed. The lack of pauses concerned me though.
Yup, greed is normal during these times. Once these bots, supplier and people get hurt or need to obtain liquidity, we'll see change. It helps if the customer votes with their wallet too.
More pauses to come don't worry.
Wait..... pause

Thank you homie 😎🫶
Big box stores get the product cuz they sell it more period. More you move the more you get.
Do you think Prismatic evolutions are short printed, or do you think distros are gatekeeping the product for further profits? Or is it both perhaps?
pokemon cards only go up baby LETS GO!!!!!! but yeah some are keeping the flow so they can get some more profits
I would agree that both are very possible. It's a strategic way to get a set hype and increase price for a later flood to unload and drop the prices? Almost perfect marketing will help. Yeah they trickle them out 3 stock at a time it's disgusting
Agree mate, all too familiar story magnified by the influx of new people to the hobby
Absolutely 💯

A lot more power than a lot of people like to let on*, not "a lot of power than a lot of people let on"
Looooooooooow taper fade……Everyone needs to understand how massive this meme is, like it’s everywhere!
🤣
Beckett is the man, an distributors are going to break Pokémon by messing with the system.
Just know that many rip and shippers have "sub distributors" basically a distributor program
I like this video, the thumbnail and the ad
Thank you Metri! 🎅
I preordered 2 PC etbs and I was planning on opening them, but after seeing the prices I think I’ll stick to opening Terastial festival lol
Goated video
You're goated 😘

Yep, everyone is trying to capitalize, creating a domino reaction that worsens as you go down the line
I feel like the pokemon company needs to do more direct to consumer sales to help fight this. Then again that would hurt LGS’s. This whole prismatic release has been such a mess
It's capitalism, always capitalism. Blame the monster and the baby monsters that it breeds via greed.

Every day another Alpha Investments pops up. All the power to them, but that means a lot less product from distributors to LGS
Bro you look soo Dapper in this thumbnail 💪
Why thank you good sir🔥
This happens often enough during high demand sets.
Yep, it happens quite a lot. This time at least, i think its even morso due to the massive amounts of new people coming in the hobby
@@RocSandy agreed
Agreed
At first I was wonder why it said it yesterday was the release of CP binder 2.0
Then I realized 😂
Yeah i reused the ad 🤣
Loooooooooow taper fade
LOWWWWWWWW TAPER FADE 🗣💯

It's because distros cut back their allocation to their customers, causing a lot of stores to lack the supply for preorders.
All of the above
roc gives birth
I’m the problem
