      Oh I absolutely love it!! Great video, thank you. I have been researching and wishing and thinking for the last two years about the best polytunnel to suit me and my space. I've looked at oodles of designs and spoke to so many people but never decided on the ONE! This year my seeds are in trays and small sunny areas before planting out. I need to just decide and go for a proper polytunel like this.
      Anyway I wish you great enjoyment out of it and great crop success .

    I purchased a 30ft polytunnel from these guys in October and just busy prepping the ground on my allotment for where its going. Very excited (if not a bit fearful 😊) about building it. I have 2 son in laws that live in the gym so I've commandeered them, mostly for their muscle! Thank you so much for this comprehensive video. I have no doubt that you and Mr. J will pass on the blessing of your new knowledge and expertise to other gardeners who need a helping hand. PS: I have never before seen soil like yours that must be lifted out in blocks.

    • @LizZorab
      @LizZorab  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Linda, the soil is dreadful! I keep saying that we have poor soil here - it's heavy clay with pebbles and sand in it - but it's hard to describe just how awful it is until you see it! LOL That is the reason for creating all those raised beds, my hope is to be able to create some decent soil above ground level and hopefully the worms will then take it downwards and improve the clay below the raised beds :-)

    Hi Liz, it looked very easy. When I lived in the Highlands there was a poly tunnel with raised beds, a grape vine and a fig tree. I needed to make new front and back covers but never came around doing it. The vine and fig tree had not been pruned for a few years, but my mum and her garden helper managed to get it growing again. They are so good at removing slugs and snails that I think it would be worth the effort.

      That soil is just dreadful and it's an improvement on what it was like when we moved in! It is why I used raised beds with lots of organic matter in them, my hope is that over time the worms will take the organic matter down into the soil and lighten it a little, but in the meantime we just have to deal with the heavy clay with pebbles and sand in it!

    Looks great, lucky you to have such wonderful and great looking guys to help you put it up. Looks nice enough to live in with just some minor modifications. You looked like a little kid at Christmas, so nice to see you that way. By the way, you have lost quite a bit of weight and are looking fantastic. Now I want one as well.

    • @LizZorab

      Hi Patricia, Mr J and Tony were superstars when it came to putting the tunnel up. It is really nice, I think I may need to have a camping party in it. I've never been camping, but I'd happily sleep out in this big 'tent'. The weight loss is a concerted effort to shift some of the extra that went on when my thyroid 'broke'. For the last three years the doctors have been trying to get my medication levels right and, although they are not quite right yet, I decided now was the time to tackle the excess baggage that I've been carrying around for the last almost 4 years. It will be nice to get back to looking and feeling like me again - hopefully by some time in the autumn, just in time for my winter 'sit on my bottom and do nothing' phase!

    The roll of white strip that Tony put on the outside of the hoops. Was that double sided foam tape?

    • @LizZorab
      @LizZorab  5 лет назад +2

      It's an anti-hot spot tape that protects the plastic from melting on the metal as it gets hot in the sunshine.

    It's great fun erecting a polytunnel... I don't think 👿 Mine has been waiting for it's cover for quite a while now, over a year at least 😟 But I'm happy to say we're only waiting for a fine and windless day, so happy 😀 I've patiently waited so long I can't actually believe I'm finally going to get my polytunnel... It's been hard work but well worth it 😊👍👌
    Happy growing Liz 🥂🍻

    Thank you for your time.
    I've got one question.
    What was the tape you put on your frame.
    Good luck.
    Good harvesting.

    • @LizZorab
      @LizZorab  2 года назад +1

      It's called hot spot tape and is a padded tape (looks like it has a layer of polystyrene type stuff in the middle). The idea is to protect the plastic covering from the heat of the metal when the sun shines and warms the metal poles. I know plenty of people who don't use it and their polytunnels are just fine. I suspect it actually gives the plastic a longer life on the frame.

    Wow Liz fantastic job and Tony is an amazing guy. Congratulations on reaching 10k and more. I,ve got decisions to make so I,m a little in limbo. I so enjoy your videos. Your photography is so good. I remember my dad as I see one of the Severn bridges. He was on the construction of the first bridge. A steel rigger. He was a fantastic gardener. We grew up with fresh produce and we had all sorts of fruit bushes.one year he made a new concrete path and put our marbles in it. We weren't amused .He would have loved what you are doing as he encouraged local neighbours to grow vegetables. He made our swing and built a fairly large paddling pool which had a nice weeping willow shading it.His brother had a smallholding not far from you near Llangibbi. I,m struggling a bit to know what to do. I really would like to settle in Cyprus. The Brexit uncertainty is making life difficult for me. I feel I need the sun. Winters are becoming increasingly difficult for me. Looking forward to your next video Love from Margaret in Pontypridd
