What a dream combination, the studio and the quiet, remote situation. Lovely.
Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be ❤❤❤
I love synths... but man that van is GORGEOUS!!
I’ve been a big fan of your stuff for a while, but something about your enthusiasm for sharing all this gear and especially showing off the van makes me dig what you do even more. Thanks for sharing.
The Pom Boiler… that will be Pom, French guy who used to work in house at Ridge Farm Studio, where they made the Gas Cooker DI’s and the Boiler was their compressor (that I think Pom had designed)… so presumably that one is the mk2 evolution of the Boiler compressor. The original Ridge Farm units were really good.
Lovely! And saved the best for last. What a beautiful VW!
This location embodies a huge potential for creating artwork that touches and elevates the soul…
MY GOODNESS YES
Wow, there is all sorts of beautiful vintage gear there, including your van!
Besides all the wondelful synthstuff - Love that old- orange VW-van-really lovely:-)
The cow clinched it for me.
Heaven for realz, including the van.
What an awesome studio. Thanks for the tour!
😊Always a pleasure!.. Tanks for showing US your beauty 😊
beautiful VW camper! practically stole the whole show...
3:54 The Xpander - the absolute gorgeous filterbank beast. Erasure, NIN, N.Ebb, etc... And it can do trance like no other. 4:06 The Chorus Echo is a semi-clone of the RE-201 space echo tape delay/spring reverb/chorus, available in desktop and rack. This is the rack. It's a current production item, not vintage. But 4:35 is the highlight of the video. Gorgeous landscape and van.
Oh man that’s heaven !!!
Nice studio! That place looks wonderful🌸🌹🌸🎹👍👏👏👏
3:18 I see, an M-Audio Keystation 88 MIDI controller, which I found, at a thrift store, for $29.99. 😊
Glad, it qualified, for entry into "Heaven".
super luxury - MIDI 1.0 : a classic
I have one, too. It still works flawlessly, great piece of kit. 😄
I remember years ago having to source a load of gear for the 3 in house musos at Ocean Software in Manchester...a Waldorf Wave was top of their list! 👍🏻😎
I'm loving all that gear...and the gr8 colour of your VW camper! 😎
Solina, expander and cs80 in one place… you do not need anything else… this is a dream studio corner
CS60, wasn’t it … ? Still … 😍
Like a visit to Soundhouse Turnkey in 1990! The nostalgia. The chorus echo is Aussie. I'm such a synth geek and I love it lolol, awesome work.
Out of all the synths, I like van the most. Nowdays it sounds so analog and unpredictable😅
Looks really great! Lovely surroundings with a nice VW...
Had the Rhodes once, regret selling it..
Have a good one! Levi in Sweden
Love the van. 🚐
Fantastic piece, really had me fixated, and what a great studio and lovely setting. Now every time I see a yellow VW camper I’m going to think “is that MJ”. lol😆
Fantastic. An awesome studio packed full of vintage gear surrounded by beautiful countryside? That's the dream. I must start playing the lottery
The Wasp was the first keyboard Nick Rhodes owned. Howard Jones tells me he loves the UDO Super 6 synth and Mark Moore the OScar, quite rare one of those certainly looks like it would be an interesting synth
I'd love all those great equipment would be used to create new DISCO-FUNK Music.
I used to have a 73' bus with sunroof that had been semi-converted to a camper by swapping in the folding back bench from a camper van, removing the middle row and installing a small custom cabinet and folding table. Not as heavy as full camper van. When the motor died I swapped out the 1.7 for a bigger 2.0 with a larger Weber carb. Still had a hard time cracking 70 mph on level ground with a tail wind. Drove it though the mountains in Arizona. Lots of fun foot to the floor going up hill at 35 mph on the freeway.
Super cool collection!
When you said “camper” I instinctively knew it’d be a VW bus. Of course - what else?!👊
cool studio, a lot of fun in there.
that Echofix Chorus Echo rack is made in Australia, they were a Roland parts and repair specialist that started making their own take on the RE-201 / 501. They still sell really good refurb kits for 201's that help us to no end down these ways. :) and their Echo is VERY good!
Love the studio! Great gear!
So much fun in a place like that ay Rik! I'm sure you have a great space yourself!
Wow. Pretty cool scene there. Thanks for showing us.
Ewan McVicar is a very lucky man, having you by his side 😊 All those tools are nice, but they excell when a true master like you is handling them tbh. I am looking forward to the results 👍🏻
i am absolutely not in cars, but that van is a stunner!!!
daria un dia de mi vida por visitar ese lugar
Yo! Beginning to end. That was a crAzy trip🎉
Simply... WOW! ;)
That setup is so cool! Matt 👍😎👍😎
Nice one Matt, thanks !
What a place 😍
Super six, cheating! What a lovely set up though. For me the key piece of kit is the chair with wheels on. Brings the whole place together!
Oh my, that gemini sounds absolutely amazing
Crazy ❤
Music heaven!
Sweet van!
I love your VW
Always entertaining.
❤
Oh man, tasty stuff!
Can't wait for a vid on the Super Gemini if you've got one lined up
loved you van 🙂
so nice! :)
What a place….!
I thought I had a fair amount of gear but that is next level.
How does he remember what he’s got in there 😂
Love the camper too Matt.
Synth heaven.
Love this Matt❤, a side of life that many of us synth nuts will never see. Action from a real studio would be wonderful. Cheers mate!
Thanks for sharing this. It’s always interesting to see what other people have in their studios and how much overlap there is with my own Sanford & Son pile of junk. The only thing I was fetishing in this haul was the custom Oberheim 3-voice. I’m still salty that I missed out on both runs of Tom’s TVS Two Voice Pro, but I’m holding out hope that he’s got one more run of the things to build now that the chip shortage is sorting itself out.
That’s ridiculous! So much money right there wowowow
I sure hope there is going to be a video of you spending quality time with the Wave
Talk about a beautiful studio in a perfect location. And you can get the best clotted cream there too!
Synth gear and automotive heaven in deed.
Dreamshop!
Youll be going surfing later on, Devon, VW
A fellow classic car and classic synth enthusiast! I always thought it was quite a niche crossover. Perhaps not!
You are best!
Heaven ! could go missing there for months ....
Nice one, thanks for sharing, I bought one of the Waldorf waves brand-new. I think I sold it about 12 years ago as I didn’t use it much kind of regret it but hopefully it’s getting used more now
Nice!
I live just down the road from there in a village called Winkleigh
Nice 😎😎😎
Mint
Very nice studio setup and a very nice VW Bus T2! Please let us know about the music you made with the dance music guys and thanks for sharing!!
Save the best for the last! ☝️😌
"We didn’t fire it up. It just looks great” 😂
almost pr0n :-) love it - what a setup!
nice one matt, screw the jupiters, i wanna see a vid on that sweet orange camper!
Haha she’s a popular girl!
@@MattJohnsonJamiroquai A friend has one in that exact color. Always a car guy or did Jay rub off on you?
bit personal @@romulus_
@@kliffklass ha
Yes the Solina string machine is all over the Songbirds Theme smiling and on the Synth Pop remixes which got renamed The Ballad of Robert Johnson
I was just having a bit of fun with the story smiling.
MANY GREAT THINGS WERE MADE IN 1973..
Bro's not got a studio he's got a museum.
Niice
Probably just fires up Fruity Loops every day.
Great studio!
Great van! You should put some yellow tape down the middle of the windshield - it’ll worth even more!! 😉
haha yeah!
Yeah, that does looks like an Oberheim phase shifter
That’s a Bass Station II, you gear-snob … !! 😄
can I ride your magic bus? my grandparents had a green one in the 80s. they also had a '70 Ford econoline at the same time - both used as campers. the VW was green and I was still small enough back then to fit in the pop up part. my dad had a VW passenger van in the 60s - red with a white top that he used to haul an upright bass. I think it was a '65. it's a shame we don't still have all of them.
Amazing set up!
Your campervan, was that the one used in the Maggie Smith film, "The lady in the van?"
No sadly not
Echo Fix do modern tape echoes.
It’s funny how people think £6K for an exceptional synth is too much, but £50K+ on a grand piano that will have little resale value is OK, or even £60 grand on a Tesla… The world doesn’t really make sense.
A cool nerd!
Wish I still had my Fender MK2 and Juno 60 but alas.... How did you like the Adelaide gig?
Great fun
nice room, and nice view
I have to pinch myself. I have a small personal home studio and not a huge commercial studio like the one you are showing. All the bells and whistles eh?
With this much stuff, do you start with a sound design session?
Not really just dived into the tracks
The local gas station ⛽️
I still have gear from the 1980s.
Is your van an L reg? I used to have a blue & white one that was about that age
It’s 1973
Good one you are no nerd.
How this gear is routed to sound interface ?
Not sure tbh!
Dexter Wansel dream
More gear sickness eh?
