The first time I used Heat and Bond was about 5 years ago when putting on a total of 70 Boy Scout patches onto 2 blankets for my nephews and thank God I have a huge living room as I put down a king size sheet onto my floor and laid the wool blankets on the floor and went to town. Took me 3 nights after work to put them all on. Now I am big into card making and saw at a cool art store in my neck of the woods where the woman who owns the store put adhesive onto pieces of card stock and sort of made a mini crazy quilt (4X6) and around the edges did a zig zag or interlock stitch. Then on the other side with a large rubber stamp she made the markings of a post card for the writing note area and the address area and an outline where the stamp goes. She said it takes 55 cents to send depending on the weight of the fabric and it is approved to send via USPS. I went to RUclips and searched adhesive/cardstock/fabric art and I picked your video first and its simple but, informative and I thank you very much. I have been sewing since I was 5 and now I am 55. Have made most of my dress clothes thru the years and am more into craft sewing now but, needed a new craft to make. And as I stated I am big into making cards too. My grandmother owned a fabric shop so when she passed away all the seamstresses in the family inherited lots - but, being that I only have a one bedroom abode without a basement - I opted for fabric on the smaller scale - remnants/fat quarters, etc. Even so, my bedroom looks like a fabric shop but, a friend recently bought me for my bday a cool organizer from Costco and that is helping me out tremendously. Thank you for your video. Sincerely, Rebekah in Alexandria, VA
@@Danigirl73 You may come to regret that offer -- ha -- it arrived in this morning's Amazon delivery -- we live in an Amazon shipping area -- and I bought the cheapest amt. to play with it -- if I can do it, you may have changed my life -- ha -- seriously, though -- I can't wait to try it for my fabric cover of my journal -- thank you so much for sharing !! Hi Dani....I love to make my own covers for books, journals & planners. However, I've never used HNB but what you've shown me in this tutorial, is how fantastic it looks (smooth and no warping) and, as you say, avoiding the mess is an added bonus. May I ask, as there is different types of HNB, can I use the ULTRA HOLD HNB as I can get this roll at an excellent sale price right now. Thank you so much and I am now a new subbie to your channel.
Hello! Thank you for this video! I do not own a sewing machine, so this will be great! Do you have a tutorial on how you bind your journals after you use this method? Thank you so much!
Hi I was looking at your video cause I was looking for a tutorial on how to glue fabric to card stock and what was my best option. I was pretty impressed with yours but question is when you cut the edges will the fabric fray with time cause I’m marking an album for a friend that’s going to have a baby so can you let me know if it stays intact? Thanks I would appreciate your help thank you 😊
New subbie here. Thanks for sharing this method! Any chance you would do a tutorial on other ways that you use heat & bond, especially with lace? I’m struggling a bit with it.
I went to Walmart today and found the heat and bond. Do you use the one you can sew on or the one you can't sew on? Do you prefer one or the other? I'm working on a baby girl junk journal for my cousin who is expecting. There are so many cute fabrics that I thought it would be a fun idea to add them to tags and stuff. I don't know that I'm going to sew on any but I grabbed the one you can sew on just in case.
sandys7118 I also wondered about the wax paper but, as long as she is using it on the wrong or back side,it should be ok. Only problem might be if, she was going to write, stamp etc. on the right or front of the fabric.
I’ve used wax paper and it does melt the wax and leaves a residue. I’ve used it for many different applications and anything with heat is a giant no-no for wax paper.
For the big journals leave an inch all around, fold in and iron.and use parchment paper, not wax paper😉

For you auditory learners....PARCHMENT PAPER.....not wax paper!.

Wax paper! I have not used wax paper for a while but I have some. Maybe it waxes the iron to make it glide better? Thank you!
Thank you! This was so helpful!

Lisa Gonzales hi Lisa...thanks for subbing, and welcome, I'll do a tutorial on how I do lace next. ♡♡
Have you tried this technique on burlap?
wax paper or parchment paper? wax paper would melt, wouldn't it?
Not if you do it like this love
Is it the light bond or heavy bond?
Thank you for sharing ... subscribed 🐞♥️

How do you clean it?

Whatbking of cutting board is that

Do you mean "parchment paper" and not "wax paper"? I would think wax paper would leave a residue from the wax film on the fabric.
You can use parchment, I personally haven't had a problem with either. Hope that helps💕
