I found this machine in my basement in perfect condition and no one had ever used it. I built it and im just getting into lifting as a teen. This video is so much better than the companies demo. I was able to make a beginners workout plan because of your video. Thank you!
I should have watched this video before buying! I just got mine in today and I am super excited. I don't know if I have space but I will make a way! I can't wait for my mom and dad to use it since it is so simple. I have free weights but wanted something the entire family can use.
Sowtpaw73 I finally got it set up but I have one question. Can you easily do leg extensions? I am 6’3 , quite tall and it’s so hard to do the exercise properly. I feel like I need my seat higher.
Thanks. Didn't know you could do so much with this machine. Seriously considering it now. Just not sure if it'll fit the space I have. Appreciate seeing i can get a full workout on this puppy.
Good review. I don’t have space for one but if I did I would consider something like this. Especially now since gyms been closed. This pretty much does a bit of everything so not bad at all. I have been using a lot of resistance bands and pull up bar with dip bar. Mainly full body stuff.
Very nice video. I appreciate all of the exercises that you did on the video. A good guide for a workout. I just ordered an MWM-988 from Sports Authority for $400. I'm 72 and need to start working out. I have put on a few pounds and have gotten out of shape since I had to stop playing tennis (bad knees). And with the Covid 19 stuff, going to the gym didn't seem like a good idea for someone my age. ........... Again, Thanks for the video. 👍
Great video. Thank you. Is this what you use for all your workouts as your primary gym; or do you use other equipment/public gym and use this to supplement those?
Hey bro great video. QUESTION- Does the leg extensions or the leg curls actually work the Calve muscles? I heard they work the quads and hamstrings. It would be a plus if I can work the calves with this machine.
Great video! Wish I could give you a bunch of likes I am starting to workout and need how to do the excercises and what to do and you showed proper technique and range of motions. It helps out a lot now to put what you did into a weekly training plan and figure out amount of reps x weight
For your butt and thighs you can do kickbacks, pull throughs, abductors, and adductors with the leg strap on your ankle. As for squats, just look up "cable squats". You simply hold the bar, take a few steps back and squat.
@@sowtpaw734 thank you so much for responding so quickly, I appreciate it. Just getting back into working out and attempting to make sure I'm actually doing things that are effective. I have an older machine and believe the ankle pull is broken. I will have to check. The bar with the squats should work good maybe I will add some resistance bands for a little something more.
A better demo than other ones I’ve found so far, but how about the ankle strap exercises ? My MWM-988 didn’t come with a curl bar or a rope pull - did yours or did you have to buy them as accessories ?
Bought one recently due to COVID restrictions at gym. Took about 6 hours for me to install. Parts are not impression stamped, instructions are pics only, but there are a few RUclips installation videos that were helpful. Definitely the seat is too short. I'm 6' 1" and wish this system had an adjustable seat for pull-downs and leg extensions. Range of motion for flies is limited as well. But for the price and space requirements, and the fact that I also have free weights and a bench to the side, this works for me. Mine came only with the pull-down lat bar and ankle strap. I bought rope, V bar, and straight bar as a separate bundle.
Hello, first off thank you for the great demo. I recently purchased the 988 model. Can you tell me the name of the bar you're using? Thank you in advance.
@@G4rc11a they were sold out for weeks at costco. Called every day until they got them back in stock. Next day they were sold out again. Best buy also had them for about 450 online only but theyre sold out too now. Just call every day until they get more.
There’s a guy selling one near me that looks unused for $250 on Facebook Marketplace. Considering picking it up this weekend. Don’t really like these combo machines in the past but for the price it’s tempting. Been looking for a lat pulldown machine for months but they’re sold out everywhere. Really just want something to do tricep push downs at home and every machine under $1000 has been out of stock forever now.
$250 is a pretty good price. I got mine 6 years ago for about $550 and it's still as good as new. Pulleys work very smooth for pulldowns and pushdowns btw.
Sowtpaw73 thanks for the info! That’s what I was hoping to hear. I actually went and picked it up this evening because I didn’t want someone else to get it instead. Had to partially disassemble it to fit it in my SUV so I won’t get to use it until tomorrow. Feels like a very solid machine. Last time I purchased one of these big name combo machines was in the early 2000s and it was nowhere near as well built. Looking forward to using it.
I put small boards on each side underneath where the weights are to stop the moving but it did move before that. When you're exercising you can't tell it's moving but I could see the movement when I record.
In order to add more weight you'd need a longer stem with more holes. However, this one is 150lbs and I've never used the max cause it feels way heavier than normal 150lbs. I believe there's another with a stack of 250lbs.
I lift free weights and do cardio plus I have good genetics at age 47 so I'm not gonna lie and claim my results came from this machine. I've been working out since I was 13 but took off 2017 and looked like shit when I started back in 2018.
I had ordered the MWM 988 model from Amazon, Paid $1034 with tax. I didn't bother to check the Marcy website, come to find out they have the 990 model for $599.00 total comes to $652.00 with tax. I requested to have the 988 model returned for a full refund, I'm saving $380, unfortunately for me I had already taken it out of the box and assembled most of it so putting all back together in the box was a bitch. But worth it, I like the black with red combo better anyways
Yeah, I'd do the same. I also bought the Marcy Combo Smith machine for about $950 and its overall better. $1034 is wayyy to much for the home gym when you can get it under $600.
Ok thanku. I was thinking about getting powerteceverage gym but it takes a lot of space, hopefully this one takes less space. I already have pretty much everything including rack. Just need a lat pull down machine
