His grandfather, a Master Player of the dombra taught him to play it and chess and they played both together all his life until his grandfather's recent death. His Grandfather was also awarded his nation's highest honor for his cultural contribution to his country. It was his Grandmother that recognized Dimash's talent and at 5, took him to the most distinguished music academy in Kazakhstan and with terrible pain in her legs and nowhere to sit, she stood all day in hallways, and walked out holding the little hand of the youngest student in its history !

Dimash sang the anthem at Ak-Orda Palace in Astana. This is the official seat of the President of Kazakhstan. The anthem in its current form has been around since January 6, 2006. By the way, Kazakhstan is the 9th biggest country in the world. The first time he sang the anthem was before the boxing fight between Gennady Golovkin from Kazakhstan (Dimash's friend) and the Mexican Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas. He traveled to Las Vegas at the request of his friend Golovkin just a few days before his big concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan in September 2022. I woke up extra early to see Dimash sing it. In Germany the fight was I think at 3.30 or 4.00 am. It was worth it. I couldn't believe it when I heard his voice. I was so proud when he sang the anthem, even though it's not mine and I sang it the whole day. I couldn’t get it out of my mind. At this time things went crazy on Twitter after the fight. So many people wanted to know who sang the national anthem and Dears had a lot to do educating people. Love from Germany 👋 ❤
