No better testament or honor to a knife than to be used. I made 10 knives in my entire life, simple, nowhere near as complex as the Norseman, and i'm happy as a peach each time the recipients come back to me to have them resharpened or fixed.
I can only imagine how useful the Norseman is for digging stuff based on my art school years using a tipless German bayonet knife to form and work sculptures in lime.
Probably one of my favorurite videos you guys have put out to date. Someone else in the comments said they couldn't stop grinning the entire time, well that makes two! Keep the videos coming guys!🤘
More grimsmo videos and a frickin dinosaur digging norseman. This is a great idea to film this as a testimonial to what a grimsmo knife can do in use and shows how well the quality you put into every knife has paid off.
Finally some videos👌 It must be satisfying to see your knife performing so well under rather extreme circumstances. Great work. (Erin, nice job editing👊)
I'm sitting here this evening watching Dino Hunt on Netflix, 100% because of this video. A. Your brother in law is a bad ass B. Dino Hunt is sort of like an adult version of "where's Waldo" for the Norseman. I'm sitting here just as excited to spot the Norseman on Netflix as I am to see the dinosaurs!
Wow Great to see a Norseman Knife that can hole up to the Dino Digger Congratulations I really enjoyed this youtube video Thanks so much John. Eric. and your brother in law.
I've done that job, excavating dinosaur fossils in Alberta, and most of us used a simple awl. But that was 35 years ago, and things change. Incidentally, it's a $200,000 fine for a member of the public to collect fossils.
Did you give him a loaner knife while you're working on his. (I know it's not something you usually do, but it would have been nice.) "Princeton Field Guide to Dinosaurs" We stopped in Princeton last night on our drive back to Florida from New Hampshire. (We're stuck in Princeton now because of a snow storm.) People in New Jersey are worse than Floridians when a hurricane is coming through. It's snowing, and they've completely freaked out. Everything is shut down. It's almost like it's if it snowed in Florida, and Floridians started freaking out. (It did snow in Florida yesterday or the day before. LOL.) It's literally regular snow... No high winds, no ice, sleet, freezing rain, etc.... Just some light snow. It's crazy, they're acting like it's the apocalypse.
H1 Metal bearing cage, it’ll never rust or take damage, unlike the plastic or polymer that Most makers are currently using. This race would look something like what shiro uses. But not a Multi row system, still single. This would probably be a pointless upgrade for most people. But in theory it’ll add durability, to a “weak point” in the knife. Of course this would mean you no longer have captured ball bearings. I don’t know how having none captured bearings will affects the track the bearings dig. I wonder if their is a better material that’s more durable then polymer, but that’s rust proof as well, and will still allow for captured bearings 🤔. Or maybe the free bearings in h1 wouldn’t be issue, and worth upgrading🤔 I also just bought the last Norseman you guys had up, mostly stonewashed, no anodizing. I’ll definitely be doing a review.
Use the same tool that you use now for the polymer cage. This would allow for the bearing to fit into a thicker steel cage. And be captured on one side. Call only go in one way. So when you take apart the knife, if you pick the washer up, and don’t turn the cage over, the balls stay in. I know I’m talking to myself, but this is the shit I think about.
Are you still doing your own anodizing? I remember watching a video that you put out a couple years ago about it. If so have you updated your setup? Maybe you could cover in one of your upcoming videos.
A grimsmo is a grail for me it's 1 knife I want terribly bad I need it in my life maybe 1 day I'll have 1 I don't care if it's a norseman or rask I'd take either.... need on a payment plan lol!!!
I realise you guys are an exporter rather than an importer to Canada but this is probably important for you to know about: www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/cn-ad/cn18-01-eng.html Shows what the climate is like for knives in Canaandorf
That would be a bad idea. Either he leaves his "good" knife at home or at the next dig he grabs the wrong knife and... well you can only use what have so both knives would be beaten up badly.
Do that like jeans They sell "hardly used jeans", why not make the knife looking like 5 years old used by paleontologist? ))) It's easy to wear the knife like hell, but try to wear 100 of them with 0.0001 tolerances )))
Could you ask for a better commercial? Tell him to stop with the wrist flipping, the schmoo has been released. And yeah, give'em a new one, for those special occasions
I was going to say thats too expensive of knife to do that to it, bit then i realized he got it free while people who paod waited months or more to get theirs
Funny to see one of those knives used and abused. I think that is better than them living in a case.
He had it for free so no problem with using it. If I'll get Norseman for free I can use and abuse it too.
That 10cm scale bar on the side looks super useful. Any chance you could make that an option on future tools?
It is so great to see new Grimsmo episodes again. Keep it up.
I really liked this video, and I hope to see more like it. I think showing more of the restoration process would be interesting as well.

I couldn't stop grinning the whole time 😊 what an honor to have one of your creations do such important work...bravo gentlemen 👏👏👏
This is AMAZING!
theres something about the look of a really well used knife
It's like a visual story. Swords, knives, armor. I could spend days looking at some of them.
Probably one of my favorurite videos you guys have put out to date. Someone else in the comments said they couldn't stop grinning the entire time, well that makes two! Keep the videos coming guys!🤘

Nice strong knife. If seen the Dino Hunter show in the past. Cool to hear of the connection with your family.
Awesome to see what the Norseman is capable of enduring! Loved the video, kept me smiling, cheers!!
Really awesome video. Fascinating bother in-law you have there John, and a great knife story. Great to see the videos back up again.
Finally some videos👌 It must be satisfying to see your knife performing so well under rather extreme circumstances. Great work. (Erin, nice job editing👊)
Awesome that you guys are putting out videos again.
Missing a screw and everything. What a great knife/story.
That's awesome to see that thing getting thrashed !
it's great to know that even if one of them Dino's gets a bit boisterous, he is armed and ready to deliver a grimsmo extinction event
That was cool. From all the wear to practically new again!
This is a wonderful story. I’d like to see it progress. More of this.
Great video, it is nice to see a Norsemen really used.
I'm sitting here this evening watching Dino Hunt on Netflix, 100% because of this video.

God the Norseman is so cool. What a neat story!!!
Awesome, I think all knife makers should have a paleontologist tester, great insight guys thanks for sharing.
Such a cool video! Love to see stuff brought back to life.
Absolutely charming story John!
Wow Great to see a Norseman Knife that can hole up to the Dino Digger Congratulations I really enjoyed this youtube video Thanks so much John. Eric. and your brother in law.
Awesome video John and Erik!
What a GREAT story! Now there is a unique niche to market to...
Great story and testimonial of the quality you build into the knife. Tools are meant to be used. Knives = tools.
What a great episode! Need more like this.
And I thought my review put it to the ultimate test! Haha! Amazing!
I think we need to see another update of the knife u gave your brother in law😊
Wow this was really special to see. Thanks for sharing. :)
Sweet Shiro hat! Respect to you both

I wish i had one of these when i was still in the military. Broke 4 or 5 in one deployment.
That is so cool! Thanks for your videos.
I really wish there was a cheaper edc knife I would totally get one
Not sure I would have changed the look, as that patina was earned. Good looking either way.
That was very cool. It proves that your knives aren't all show :o)
Wow I wish I could do that with one of your knives...if only it was possible to actually buy one.
Cool story, thanks for sharing

whosbenchmade 51 morpho balisong is that? I love balisongs. been flipping for 2 years now
That's so cool to see your knife lasting over that kind of abuse , mean they could definitely last a lifetime. Cheers.
Yeesss! Lol that was me on instagram @20_20_stan. Its cool to here the story behind the knife.
Can you tell me a price for a new knife, like the one you restored?
Darn you guys, now I'm watching Dino hunters lol.
I would use it as well... no safe queens here!
One day I'll be able to afford a norseman.
What are the odds that I have the same configuration! #5832 😊
Call it the GRIMLOCK!
great video.
You sharpened the front edge?! I remember in an old video you mentioned he asked for the front edge to be dull because of how he was using it?
I didn't actually sharpen it all the way. I just got it back to its original shape and look with probably a .020" edge. It's ready to start digging.
noice!
Very cool stuff :)
if you only were able to put more knifes out...
A grimsmo is a grail for me it's 1 knife I want terribly bad I need it in my life maybe 1 day I'll have 1 I don't care if it's a norseman or rask I'd take either.... need on a payment plan lol!!!
Awesome, I love it!!!!
this is so awesome
Who was the old man leaning into the mill? You guys hire help? 🤔
it's John's Father in law. he's been in one or two of the previous videos
RaininPayne2 I️ believe that is his father in law his name is berry.
My grail knife...alas I will never have it.

good vid
Love it
Grail knife
Yep I was cringing lmao. Give that man a new one for edc haha
Bryce Parker why? its still in good shape. just needs to be cleaned and sharpened and it would be as good as new
toxic flipper lol yes but I mean a clean rask that he can use when not digging with his Norseman haha
Bryce Parker yeah that would be a good idea
That would be a bad idea. Either he leaves his "good" knife at home or at the next dig he grabs the wrong knife and...
well you can only use what have so both knives would be beaten up badly.
cdv jesus that's what I was thinking
Priceless!
Do that like jeans

It's easy to wear the knife like hell, but try to wear 100 of them with 0.0001 tolerances )))
that is exactly what a knife is for to use and abuse..maybe one day i can afford one...
Could you ask for a better commercial?
Tell him to stop with the wrist flipping, the schmoo has been released.
And yeah, give'em a new one, for those special occasions
AvE watcher I'm guessing?
There's nothing wrong with wrist flicking. It's simply a reassurance that the knife will always deploy.
I was going to say thats too expensive of knife to do that to it, bit then i realized he got it free while people who paod waited months or more to get theirs
The passive aggressiveness is strong with this one.
They’re great knives but John has become so arrogant it’s hard to watch.
So you got a sister or one y'all gay. Not judging just curious.

ThisOldFashionedLife Oh, ok. I was going to say Eric is kinda cute.
