    In the aviation industry, the idea for most screw bolts etc. that does not have a torque requirement is: Finger tight and then a quarter turn. Thats a good rule of thumb that should work in this instance.

    Does taking it apart void any type of warranty, anyways its amazing how you guys worked almost every detail in your knives and share it with the owners, I doubt the entire sub count owns one, and I'm sure each wants one, I sure do, this is just quality from the first step to the last. I try to use this philosophy in my work, but unfortunately we don't get to this level, but damn I would love to try.

    You should definitely test it for a longer amount of time, soak one in windex for an extended and see how it reacts over a longer period of time and see what kind of wear, damage, will occur by forcing windex on one.

    Great video John. Thanks man. Btw I have #124 and didn’t get a kool box with a wrench. Lmao 🤣 seriously though, what is the number for the wrench and is it a Torx or an Allen ? Thanks man. Keep up the good work. See ya at Blade bro. 👌😉. Still loving mine. Even though windex doesn’t bring mine back lol. It’s a wonderful knife and if I had a dollar for every time I’ve been asked to sell it, I’d have some bucks. Haha 😂

    Your knives have a plastic disc holding the ceramic ball bearings and this makes a difference in the way the knife sounds. With plastic, the knife is quieter. For those makers who use stainless cages, I recommend a heavy thicker oil with one drop on each ceramic bearing to illuminate the rattle sound from a stainless bearing cage. If you put a thicker oil on ceramic bearings and the detent the knife will be smoother and quieter.

    I don't get the point of using two stoppins. What is the reason for that and what's the difference to using just one?

    • @IronForestKnives
      @IronForestKnives 6 лет назад +1

      Probably allows them to make the arc slot smaller, which would strengthen the blade a smidge, and maybe to allow for some other design feature. Plus more pins will only make the connection between the two halves that much more rigid. Just guessing.

      It allows them to alter the closed and opened position of the blade seperately, so they can for example change the lockup while keeping the detent the same.

    Probably the wrong place to ask, but have you considered applying your expertise and perfectionist ways to making a leather man style multi tool? Personally I don’t like the iconic ‘wave’ multi tool and have opted for the cutdown ‘sidekick’ version as it is lighter and easier to carry. However it is made of inferior materials and had less options available. Maybe cost preventative but I’m sure I’m not the only one that would like to see your interpretation of this genre ....

    I love your work and I love your knives. But a concave blade profile is an unnecessarily massive shag for sharpening and precludes many traditional sharpening techniques like stones. You have forgotten more about knife making than I will ever know, so perhaps Im in error.... but having the blade profile recurve seems like a massive shag for sharpening suing most traditional methods imho

    I enjoyed your recommended maintenance even though I do not own one of your knives. Those are beautiful knives. Do you guys have an assembly jig? Does Clara know you "borrowed" her tweezers for loctite aplication? On the slow motion fast flyover shot... please don't.That section of video stood out in a bad way. Personally a slow pan over would have been better or just leave it out. Please take this only as constructive criticism. I cant wait for the next Grimsmo video (come on IMTS 2016)!
