I think it starts with the d line actually getting pressure and the backers tackling being good.

Florida defense had no run defense . Got gashed often. Couldn’t penetrate and get pressure on qb. Secondary was very scary allowing huge pass plays. Especially at crucial times in the games needing a stop for a potential win. Yes the tacking was not good either. With hopefully a good offense still with Mertz and co. And at least a serviceable defense , which equals a good one I guess , then that will hopefully give the 7 or 8 wins . Maybe outside 9 possibly chance

The defense showing exponential growth is the number one factor for Florida to potentially win 7-8 games

I believe that after adding a new DL and DB coach along with Ron Roberts as head coach of defense the defense should be significantly better and if the offense improves a little Florida has the chance to win 8 or 9 games in 2024 even with a killer schedule. But it still needs to be proven on the field.

Even though he's a freshman, I would think 5 star LJ McCray makes a difference but no one seems to talk about it. McCray was the number 1 in his position and I find it hard to believe he won't see the field this year.

In a curious move by EASports, the makers of the soon to be released NCAA Football 2025 game, they have the Gators Defense ranked #25! Will they be prophets?!

Ron Roberts did more with less last year with Auburn. UF should see a big jump in Defense given the experience returning, much improved coaching which includes tackling and overall execution. Top 50 Defense gives us 8-9 wins.

I get reversion to the mean favors our defense this year . I don't think strength coach is the issue. The issue is will to win. Billy's nice guy feature means he isn't mad dog mean like both urban and saban were. That's a long-term issue even if he survives this year.

College Football is better when Floida is good. Best of luck this year (except against Texas)

Ali- you should be ashamed of yourself. You continue to feed false hope to the most desperate fan base in America. You’re like the crooked televangelist taking money from poor people. There will be no miracle folks. 6 wins max.

First of all, Will Mikes is NOT an expert. There’s really no such thing in college football, except for the bookies who are dependent on being to remain employed. Will is no more an expert than anyone who is a college football fan. He’s a Gator fan, which makes him even less qualified to know a thing about college football. He exited same delusional mindset of most Gator fans. Have you ever heard such a jumble of word salad as he spewed about boost or bust etc. It was a lot of unintelligible nonsense. Then he has the hubris to claim that Devin Moore makes a huge difference in how UF’s defense performs based in the FSU game. Is he insane? We know what was the biggest factor in the FSU game. It was Tate Rodemaker looking like a deer in headlights. Even a kindergartner would know that, yet he says Devin Moore was the difference?
Talking about delusions…Allie again touts how Napier’s a savant at player evaluation. Is there ANYTHING to support that hypothesis? As far as I know, the Gators are LOSERS under Napier. If he’s ahead of the curve at evaluating talent, why haven’t we seen any evidence on the field? Even Graham Mertz has figured out that winning is more important than stats. He’s talking big….but talking big has never been something that Gator players or pundits have lacking. Remember Anthony Richardson running his mouth before the FSU game? Maybe, just maybe, Gator fans, pundits, and players should just keep their mouths shut until they can actually back up their boasts with action on the field. What a novel idea!
