Just came back from a road trip from Aalborg Denmark to Berlin and i can confirm that none of the v3 tesla chargers in Denmark or Germany i tried fits on my 2022 ioniq 38 the old v2 on the other hand worked like a charm, and i do hope Hyundai one day adds teslas charging stations to there nav systen.
You tested on a newer 38kWh Ioniq and it seems to fit. A real test would be if it actually would charge, or in other words, communication works and charging starts. On my 28kWh (2019) Ioniq it does not work on V3 chargers. I cannot see any misalignment either, but it still doesn’t work. It works on ANY CCS2 charger I have encountered (unless it was put of order…) and I charge a lot with DC. Note: my SoH still shows 100% on the Hyundai shop OBD reader after 4,5 years and 117kkm. Not bad, just very strange it won’t work on a V3 Tesla charger (and a pity…). I have to test in a V2 Tesla CCs charger as yet, but never seem to be around on on my routes…
Yes it charges fine on Superchargers. Here's a test using a V3 Supercharger ruclips.net/video/8ofqN4-aQ6M/видео.htmlsi=J8ZBiIRZelqM2nv- and using a V4 ruclips.net/video/RJgThJtCR2g/видео.htmlsi=IQY3CuGz0Obwhrw-
It seems there are different CCS Connectors or they have huge tolerances in their dimensions. Here in Austria I could not get the V3 plug fully inserted to make contact. I‘ve put a video in my channel that shows what I did to make it work.
Not sure what the situation is with CCS2 vs of the Kona Electric, but there is a huge amount of clearance around the chargeport on the Canadian Kona Electrics we have. It has an LED indicator ring relatively far out from the chargeport, like 20-30mm at the top so I imagine it would easily fit the larger CCS2 DC rapid connector as it's primarily wider and not taller. There is a ton or horizontal room and the CCS1 connector has that huge clip on top as well.
I note you did not start the charge on this instance with the Tesla charger. The first time I tried a v3 with my Ioniq 28kWh, it deceptively seemed to fit, but then the charge stopped after 1kWh only of charge. The second time, I had to push hard to go past the LED, the charge succeeded but it did not feel quite right. I shared the video last summer if you want to check what I mean. Checking both today I must say it's hard to see any difference, so it must be very slight. For me, it's v2 (e.g. Eurotunnel chargers) with v3 only as a backup when everything else is not an option.
I tried on the compatible ccs tesla super chargers here in Australia with my Ioniq 28 and on both occasions I could not charge with my ioniq, on the app it said connecting then timed out after a few minutes
While you were doing that, I would have liked to see you do some charging too, to especially to see what charge speeds you were getting from using those different chargers.
The charge speed is dictated by the car and the current temperature of the pack, not the different chargers. The 38kWh Ioniq Electric has a peak charging speed of 44kW (DC).
Hi great video. I’ve got a 21 plate Ioniq 38kwh and have tried using Tesla Charing point on Birmingham today. They both said they were unable to find the car. This was on numerous different attempt on different chargers !!?? One thing I wondered was the actual charger felt very flimsy and not really locked in position ?? Any ideas
Now i feel silly for mentioning it 😂. It's really bugging me why it didn't fit for me as its the same socket as the 28kwh. There's new v3 superchargers an hour from me. Im going to have to try it again 😂
Don't be embarrassed for mentioning Karim. It's a real issue at least on my 28 it is. Had the issue twice and also covered the evidence on video for avoidance of doubt. It works if you angle though.
@@avidviewer1 I agree. Clearly there must be a difference in the gap between the LED and top of the socket on the Ioniqs. I'll have a look at if the LED is moulded into the socket or mounted separately where they may be some adjustment if the screws are slackened off.
@@GoGreenAutosn Kia Soul the light comes on when you open the charge port door. It stays on for some time after plugging in, even though you no longer need illumination. When you unlock the car and release the lead, the light comes on but as soon as you’ve unplugged the lead it goes out. That irritates me because once the lead is out you have to put the cap back, which is a fiddle in the dark. It suggests to me that whoever wrote the code which controls that little light has never used one of these cars, or didn’t care.
I had the same problem with it hitting the light , just a jiggle and a push i managed to get it to fit, if it was my partner trying to charge she would have given up, Wonder if its certain chassis number ioniqs 🤔
Yes, others have said they can't get the connector in. Yet all the v3 connectors I've tried have been fine. I've now got another Ioniq, so must see if that's any different.
@GoGreenAutos it was the banbury chargers I tried, used stall 3d then moved to 3c then realised what was happening , I've no idea what version them chargers are as it was the 1st time using a tesla charger , did peak @48kw for a period so not complaining.
I am starting to think so, but lets not forget that the topicposter showed on a 38kWh version and many with a 28kWh version seem to have this problem. So, even though the CCS2 recepticle on the car looks the same, it might not be exactly the same, I fathom.
I wonder if that LED is part of the outer moulding and there is some tolerance for the CCS port, wonder if slacking off those 3 bolts in the port will allow a slight realignment? I don’t suggest anybody try of course as it’s part of the HV system.

Could you post the url to the video wirh the solution here as well (not to hog this post…)

Are you sure those were open to non-Tesla? And then had you enabled the charge in the Tesla app?

Maybe the LED light protrudes slightly more down in your car?
I tried two V3 superchargers and both fitted just fine. Plus when I was at Banbury before, another Ioniq was charging on a the V3 Supercharger.

None of us are ever silly for talking about our EV issues. For us, on our cars, they've happened. All the best!

Thanks for this Video! When does the LED at the chargingport turn on / off? BR from Switzerland, Berny
I've never noticed. It probably comes one when you press the button to open the charge door and probably goes off when the charging starts.

I'll have a look at that
Good to know.
I tried ioniq28 once with v3 and it did not fit. Did not use force much though
I tried two V3 CCS plugs and both slid in just fine without force.
Just buy a Tesla then you won't have any issue
😂yep!
OK, good advice (…).
