It was just Ishan's hard luck that the ball went straight to the fielder . You can say that "Boult didn't take Ishan's wicket. It was just that Ishan gave his wicket to Boult".
They were basically hiding Rohit from Boult as Rohit struggles with left arm pace... which is a very passive, cowardly decision. Rohit is not a T20 player as he starts very slow. Rahul needs to be moved in the middle order... The problem is India's top 3 are proper batsmen who like to take time to get going - which wastes the entire PP

2 things which I don't like which these ex players always bring up
1. Indians are good players of spin. No not at all. We struggle mighty against even Moeen Ali. And these ex players will troll foreign players that they don't know how to play spin !
2. We are never favorites going into these ICC tournaments. Yes one of the formidable teams but never clear cut favorite. Only in 2011 we were the favorites because of our batting line up and playing in home. England is the favorite nowadays! Remember they don't even have Stokes and archer !

When India miserably failed in 2007 - 50 over world cup at that time too Indian players were highly experienced and balanced . With almost similar team India became No.1 in Test and later won world cup 2011.
Ups and Downs are part and parcel of the life. We should be proud of whatever India has achieved in recent past and back our players to prepare well for coming world cups and most importantly believe in process.

This is the reason why we are hardly winning any trophies. Fans like you are content with IPL, winning bilateral Paytm series and occasional world cup. In 50 years of playing cricket, a country of 1.3 billion has won only 3 world cups. Today's performance would have caused heads to roll in any other country. This is India's golden generation, some of the best batsmen, bowlers & fielders and still we are getting humiliated. Chalta hai approach won't work any longer.

Indian Team selection commitee should be changed they are giving preference to performances in IPL..
Keeping experienced players outside & playing inexperienced players in WorldCups same mistake in 2019 and now in 2021..
Rightly said brother they dropped shikhar who played really well in ipl and he has been amazing in all icc tournaments where one has to play underpressure .suppose if there would be rohit-shikhar pair india would have gotten much better start which could change the momentum of the games(against nzl and pakistan) towards india. And i dont know why there is not yuzi chahal who did everything for team india and rcb over the years.

I don't think result would have been different if it was Shikhar or Yuzi you cannot compare icc trophies with ipl ... icc wc is pressure game another level of pressure compared to ipl. And toss is a crucial factor we got Bhuvis experience but failed so doesn't really matter. I think you could see the short clips he was guiding the team members ... it's not about mentorship but more about situational strategies and assessing the conditions.. if the ball is sticking so much you see 2 wickets down, you shouldn't keep ball in the air rather play more ground shots try doubles and boundaries. @@prashant41191 I agree with you 100%. We should have clearly defined roles and responsibilities for all members of the team and the support staff. Lack of clarity created doubts and the result is for all of us to see. The decision of assign Dhoni as mentor was random at best, an abrupt decision to somehow make him a part of the team. Normally, there is a gap of many years post-retirement that a sportsman is selected for an alternative role. By the way, if India had won these first 2 matches, media would have proclaimed Dhoni as a hero 😳
@@sachinagg77 agreed I think it was just desperation to win and I would see MSD as value add only if he gets all the freedom to influence decisions but I don't think so he would intervine... honestly don't care much about what people think only want team to win ... I personally dint like the captaincy you cannot start with Varun when your score is soo low you should start with your Ace bowler. If you are in trouble you don't call a rookie after batting things were difficult but when I saw Varun starting I was more confident we wouldn't win now. Due factor, powerplay guptill playing and to start with a spinner was a blunder I felt. Anyway I am sure they understand cricket better and will support them always but just my personal point of view can be wrong. Felt young ones need to learn from Williamson how to play as per situation and not rush.

India is a great team but they couldn’t just show their rhythm due to the big loss against Pakistan. I feel like team selection wasn’t enough to deal with Pakistan team and New Zealand team. India is missing role players and selection is made based on the who scored more runs in ipl or more sixes or their aura,
1. Virendra Sehwag, who used to set the pace of the match and the mindset for the players who bat after him. He never used to play defensively esp in powerplay.
2. Ghambir, staying on the crease and playing responsible shots and rotating the strike and adding runs to the board. If the other aggressive opener has problems with particular bowler, rotate the strike and take away the pressure. Shikar dhawan was doing this esp last part.
3. Sachin, building on the foundation set by the openers and setting the total. This role is done by kholi. Thus sachin and kholi became leading run scorers.
4. Dravid/Kholi in early years, when top 3 fails hold the team from losing more wickets and add score by rotating the strike and defending tough balls or take india home by completing the chase or building respectable total. Thats how dravid became wall and kholi became master of chasing.
5. Yuvraj, play according to situation ie duel role of 4 and 6 and if the total is low or chase is to closed then up the ante by hitting big shots.
6. Dhoni, make sure wickets dont fall any futher and take india till last over and then unleash fire power. And a captain who can play in any situation without letting his shoulders down in the game.

Problem is not just the loss, but the manner in which india have lost. And that has been their pattern. When india loses, it loses rather in a very bad way. They have seldom.lost some close games.. against pakistan, india at least should have tried to take 4 5 wickets and made it difficult
