Why Shurikens Are So Useless in Naruto

Naruto characters use several types of weapons. But out of all of them, shuriken are certainly the most useless weapons. Shurikens never kill a character in Naruto or Naruto Shippuden, and they don't seem to do anything in the Naruto Anime.
The only character that seems to use them is Sasuke. Sasuke Shurikens are cool too see most of the time such as in the Sasuke vs Itachi fight, Naruto vs Sasuke, Sasuke vs Orochimaru, and even Sasuke vs Demon brothers. But still, they don't do much damage. Let's find out why.
