5 Minute "Follow Me" Tai Chi - Great for Beginners

- Tai Chi in 5 Minutes - Sometimes even 15 minutes for your Tai Chi practice is a luxury. But don't worry - you can still get the same benefits even if you only have 5 minutes. This is a perfect beginners Tai Chi exercise. Just follow along with what you see. We're actually just working two main movements: Cloud Hands and Thunder Clouds. Why? Well, they are simple, beautiful and flowing - and easy to repeat. Also, I was in one of my favorite parks - Peninsula Park in Portland, OR. (It's the original Rose Garden from the early 1900's - the rose garden that started Portland on the path to being the City of Roses.) And the sun was stubbornly hiding behind the clouds and wouldn't come out!

I recently had a total right hip replacement. My surgeon gave me the okay for Tai Chi. I used to do Yoga but he wants me to wait on that. Having no experience with Tai Chi, I appreciate your ability to break this down and teach it to those of us that need a starting point.

as i said, getting back into the swing of doing my tai chi.. yesterday, i made my own "blue room" from the spare bed room.. i did 30 minutes.. so tomorrow i will add this too.. it felt so good to start practicing again.. especially when i was doing it 2 hours 3 or 4 days a week.. sometimes 6 days.. thank you..

I love Tai Chi started 10 years ago with the long form Yang style. Then instructor moved away so I try to follow your videos. I still want to do the 100 days.

I like this. I too like to do some tai chi when visiting nature parks, often with short forms. I now can add flow to my choices, following this or including other moves. Thank you for sharing.

I started doing Tai Chi a couple of months ago, and I find it harder than it looks
After 2 or 3 sessions I had to decide - is this for me, or shall I give it up now?
Well, I decided to carry on and make a go of it. I have watched many videos on Tai Chi and I have found that yours is about the level that suits me
I know that you can go on to do forms of many movements, but for now I am aiming to do the Form shown in this video; I'll be happy to reach this standard, but who know what the future may bring

5 good minutes. Even when I do the 24 movement it takes between 5 and 5 and 1/2 minutes. It is only when I do flow that I do 15 or more.
I can't recall the name of the movement that looks like wave hands like clouds with they fists closed. The name Thunder comes to mine. What is the correct name?
The move you're thinking of is what we call "The Thunder Clouds." So this short routine is a mix of Cloud Hands and Thunder Clouds - good call!
how is tai chi good for the lungs? does tai chi improve lungs capacity?
sure it does! it healed my austma and only by the breathing exesices when you can do even at bus, at work and even when you sleep :)
i'm talking about belly breathing took me like one year to make it, as a regular breathing, and less smoatch pain, going for all the organs, my teacher worked on the belly breathing first, as he said that's where the power come from, because i wanted power(qi-chi), but some teachers start on techinqiues from there to the beathing also, there is not a wrong way, but the way who you can feel joyfull, in chinese medicine lung are going with the sadness feeling, alot of sadness can harm the lungs, so taiqi, can improve emotion stability too, goodluck may the qi be with you XD

BeTheOne You're so right! I had debilitating asthma as a child, that continued in my 20's - right up until the time I started to learn Tai Chi. Now it's almost completely gone, along with all my allergies.
