The 1986 Red Sox will forever be my favorite team... despite it wasn't the one to break the curse, I was a kid in little league and baseball was everything for me at this time. So broken hearted when we lost... I'll always remember summertime playing baseball in the yard all day, and in the evenings watching Clemens, Boggs, Evans, Rice, Gedman, on tv.... what a great time to be a young baseball fan... and nothing could have been more special than the excitement of beating the Angels the way we did, and then the roller coaster ride of a World Series. Thanks for posting this video!
@@billny33 for game 6 I was watching the game with my siblings they went to bed after the Dave Henderson home run. The series was over to them I stayed awake and watched the ball go through bill buckners legs the same thing happened for Kirk Gibsons home run once eckersley came into to close the game I stayed up to watch it happen
Did you and your siblings have a dog in the fight in 86? Were you Mets fans, Sox fans? Or just neutral? Sounds like they really needed to learn to stick around until the end cause last minute dramatics happen a lot. That's what makes sports great. That's what I watch for. I was only 3 and too young to have any memory of this. My parents say I watched it with them as they rooted for the Mets.
Would be fascinating to watch the red sox tv broadcast of this series. Have watched the regular broadcast with jim palmer and al michaels. Just daying. Anyway intersting of history , from a truly remarkable post season.😊🙈🙉🙊
Don't understand the negative comments about the production of this video. It was a shame that this great team wasn't the one to break the curse. We love them.
I guess before the 90s Major League Baseball didn’t oversee these types of films ? Cause it says it’s a “Boston Red Sox production” and it seems to me the league has to authorize any team documentaries from now on...
1986 when round 1 was the ALCS. Look at them celebrate winning the division vs Toronto. I just realized I was there as 8 yr old kid. All I remember was the less filling tastes great chants. I think our section was “tastes great”
Thanks for uploading this. I knew all about the Mets and Buckner and all, but I had no idea Boston was 1 strike away from losing to the Angels in 5 games. WOW...
And wow, poor Dave Henderson... he would have been the all time Boston hero had the Buckner thing not happened. Clutch HRs to basically win both series.
he was still beloved in boston to the day he died. ironically buckner started off that inning with a base hit, giving henderson eventually the chance to become the hero, when a few innings earlier a ball went off hendersons glove for a go ahead homer for the angels...
The game was tied when “the Buckner thing happened”. The Red Sox had a two run lead to start the inning and had two outs and nobody on base. Buckner should have been removed for defense like he was all season. They then gave up 3 straight hits and a wild pitch. Eventually “the Buckner thing happened”
There's only tiwo times in 39 seasons as a redosx fan I've prayed...one was with Dave roberts leading off first...the other with hendu facing Donnie Moore
I may have not been born to see the 1986 red sox, but judging by this yearbook, man the sox had great team that year. The world series should have been theirs after taking the first two games in shea stadium.
I can understand, the mets gave the sox so many chances to win, plus sharaldi, was so dumb and tried to make an excuse that he was not scared on mound when he was to gary carter when he threw a pitch down the middle because he fell behind 2-0
What happened to Dana? I got TV-38 here in CT from November 1977 to December 31, 1989 when those jerks at Cablevision deleted it and still continued to charge us for it. Have not seen a Sox or B's game since then.
The "play by play" on this is just comically bad. Ken Coleman sounds like a coma patient trying to re-create this stuff. Imagine producing this and being like "Yeah, we don't want to use the accounts from Vin Scully, Al Michaels or any of those guys, we want Ken Coleman on a crapload of valium"
Assuming they didn’t have the rights ? Did you notice seems this movie was made by the team I think at some point, major-league baseball took over to production of all these kinds of movies of team yearbooks, so that they could license audio clips from NBC or the other networks.
Yeah but not exactly the same thing. Cardinals had runners in scoring position with 1 out. Red Sox were up 2 runs and the Mets had NOBODY on base. Plus the Mets came back on a wild pitch and an error. Heartbreaking for Boston!
Brian Leetch Not a Carbon Copy of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series, but the fate the Texas Rangers suffered 25 years later can not be unmatched considering that not once, but twice, the Rangers were One Strike Away from wrapping up The World Series. Plus like the ‘86 Red Sox the Rangers also got 2 Runs in the 10th Inning. Even though the Cardinals won the game in 11 Innings. Still after losing Game 7, I can safely say that 1986 was relived in the 2011 World Series.
+Meredith Salenger That's because RUclips detected a copyrighted song and tried to remove it. The song is "Gathering Crowds", better known as the theme music for "This Week in Baseball": ruclips.net/video/tBeD74f5_6w/видео.html
57:29 dont like 2nd place parades but that moment signifies that all the villifying of buckner shiraldi stanley gedmen and even clemens (for suppodely quitting early in game 6 were mostly the invention of shaughnessey
There's a much better 1986 season review out there, done by NESN called "Riding The Wind of Destiny." It covers only the regular season, but does it chronologically and in a very detailed fashion.
wiedep I know, it's really terrible. Ken Coleman is doing the fake narration and he was the radio voice of the Sox, so there must have been a licensing or cost issue that prohibited them from using the actual WPLM/WRKO broadcast audio.
Chef Tripper Those playoff games were not broadcast by WSBK they were on ABC so they either couldn't or didn't want to use Al Michael's audio so that is why it was recreated. Maybe the radio tapes were not saved or were prohibited from being rebroadcast.

I hope that the Red Sox honor Dave Henderson with a patch on their Uniform in 2016... RIP Dave Henderson..
Just realized we beat doc Gooden twice and still lost the series..
Had this vhs when I was a kid and have been searching for it online for years. THANKYOU!!!!
me too i must have watched this 1000 times

Boston Bruins hockey! My dick got hard when I used to hear that and, Barney miller will not be seen tonight in order to bring you……..

Did you sell it then keep buying it?

@ 1:10 the new tv38 red sox intro
It was the intro used for the 1987 season.
I may have not been born to see the 1986 red sox, but judging by this yearbook, man the sox had great team that year. The world series should have been theirs after taking the first two games in shea stadium.
I think the greatest series the Red Sox ever won was the 2004 ALCS when the Red Sox came back from an 0-3 deficit
I was 11 years old at the time and 30 years later as a 41 year old, it still hurts like hell.
I can understand, the mets gave the sox so many chances to win, plus sharaldi, was so dumb and tried to make an excuse that he was not scared on mound when he was to gary carter when he threw a pitch down the middle because he fell behind 2-0
+cathedral94 would you like to read my game 6 memory /story
Jose Mercedes I was born in June and I missed the good years. I went to my first game in 1992 when they started to suck lol
Sorry about the spelling. I think you're know what i am meaning🙊🙉🙈👍😜
though rice was on the 75 team he got hurt in last week of the season so 86 was his first postseason appearence on the field
Narration by the great Dana (The Movie Loft, We Don't Knock) Hersey.

I think he's still doing voice-over work in Boston. He can be heard introducing the Howie Carr Show each weekday.
Thank you for the info. Death to Cablevision, the NY Yankees and the FCC.
And when did Tom Seaver come to the Red Sox in 1986?
40:20 the Angels were never the same again... until 2002
and they never beat the redaoz till 2009

Idk what it was, but Roger Clemens was just on point against the Mariners during that 20K nite
The Texas Rangers suffered the exact same fate 25 years later in the World Series.
Yeah but not exactly the same thing. Cardinals had runners in scoring position with 1 out. Red Sox were up 2 runs and the Mets had NOBODY on base. Plus the Mets came back on a wild pitch and an error. Heartbreaking for Boston!

RUclips also removed the sad piano music that plays during World Series Game 7. Not sure whose piece that was though.
"The trilogy ended with tragedy"...
It's a shame that the audio seems to get slightly messed up around May, which is, of course, the best song.

good to know, thanks!
The postseason was all that mattered with this team
I especially enjoyed both Games 6 and 7 of the World Series.
I'm sorry, I cannot, and will not watch this...
Do you also have the '88 and '90 Red Sox Video yearbooks?
And also '95? They won the AL East all of those years.
both are on RUclips, I've seen them
I've got full red sox games on channel Elbow Drop Gaming.
Excuse me, can you upload Forever Fenway: 75 Years of Red Sox Baseball(1987)?
That video is on my channel.
Everytime I see McNamara I want to.puke. he was Grady before Grady was Grady.
The Red Sox is my second team but with all due respect why have a pride if they didn’t won no championship
@ 47:24 name that tune
StFidjnr I would like to know! Also the announcer I’m assuming wasn’t their real radio announcer ?
Mad about you is the tune. Belinda Carlisle
Yeah wtf is the commentary in the playoffs?
The ABC/NBC rights for the audio were probably too much money so they had Ken Coleman the redsox radio announcer recreate .
Too bad some of Clemens' competitive spirit didn't rub off on schiraldi
Nothing cheesier than faked "play-by-play"

Hey? So obviously fake. The narrator and music were cheesy as hell too.
Ken Coleman was a classy announcer, maybe the music was cheesy but not the narration.
It sounds cheesy now, but it sounds very 80's. Don't know if it was cheesy then
