Why is Functional Medicine being kept out of Medicare, Medicaid, TriCare…and ALL the insurances being marketed to cover employees & their families during years when the foundation of wellbeing can be best established?

Great explanation and well said. This kind of practice is the future of medicine indeed. It's time we replace conventional methods! It's clearly not working out well. Too invasive, risky, expensive, possible side effects, etc. Better to get to the root cause.
Thanks for these informative and detailed video Dr. Hyman. I am a IIN health and wellness coach graduate. As such, I have to constantly explain to the general public what functional/integrative medicine is because as a “not doctor” (in conventional medicine that is… 😊) I have found difficult the “credibility” factor… So I’ve shared this video many times over to try and educate people on the subject. It is to the point, clear, simple yet thorough enough to convey the message.

Sorry but ... Isn't this what Family Medicine has been doing for decades? This sounds like repackaging the same old goods and calling it new, possibly as a way to get patients seeing more of your own providers to maximize revenue. The issues with healthcare in the US have more to do with access and affordability - and if primary care providers are not managing to coordinate care, then that is because they are overworked, understaffed and pressed by insurance companies to not spend enough time with their patients thinking about their needs comprehensively - holistically. It's the ethical responsibility of MDs and healthcare administrators to fight to fix the underlying problems with the system , but rebrand holistic primary care (e.g. family medicine) as "functional medicine.". Get marketing out of medicine.
Ehhh. That's not true. There is an issue with the quality and design of much nutritional research, historically. But it's not that it has been disproven. The reliability of the research is weaker compared to other branches of medicine. The problem is often credited to the difficulty of designing long term studies that isolate the effects of specific foods. That is not the same as being disproven. There's still merit in what nutritional science has shown. It's just messy science - frustratingly messy.
