To be fair, in person, it looks practically identical to the display on the Samsung S23 Ultra. I do, however, prefer the non-curved edges. I have the S23U and the curved edges make the stylus slightly annoying to use in some circumstances.
I trust your assessment on this matter your integrity is appreciated. You've always made some on point assessment on tech products. Google Pixel have come a long way it is a phone that is featured pack with very smart software. The charging speed is fast enough but it definitely can be faster, faster will be desirable. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾
Excellent review Shane. You hit on all the important aspects. The one I don't really care about is the gaming as I don't play games on my phone. I would have given the software a 10 out of 10
I have an S23+ and the 8 Pro. The Samsung is noticeably faster, smoother, runs slightly cooler, has better battery life and a bit better cellular signal. With that being said... I ordered the 8 Pro on a trade in for the S23+ and I most likely will complete that trade and send in the Samsung. I'll make my decision by Friday.
In very specific tasks my s23 Ultra is faster. The vast majority of the time they are nearly identical and as I said, the Pixel feels another in terms of animations.
My first time watching any of your videos. Well done. I agree with most of your review. I'm a bit of a crazy person when it comes to tech. I generally buy 2 phones every year. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is on my personal line and I run Android on my work line. I have watches for both. Both an iPad Pro and a Xiaomi tablet. Multiple sets of buds and over ear headphones. I also have the Xreal Air AR glasses. I have issues... The wife wants to kill me lol
Google's software has always been my main reason for getting the Pixel. Specifically the Android UX and AI (features and Assistant). I'm really happy to see that the Pixel 8 build is coming to its own level of maturity. I think the 8 series is a great milestone for #MadeByGoogle and #TeamPixel.
I am really happy with the pixel 8 pro , it's a beautiful phone, no bugs , what has improved over pixel 7 pro , ? The display screen is a lot brighter, the video is better too, the photo can't tell a difference. , it feels better in hands , I give the phone 9 / 10
I think that a lot of people in this tech space judge their phones off of gaming performance but me personally I play games on my tablet. So having a Snapdragon tablet is perfect because of the screen size of my tablet. Even a folding phone I could not play games on full-fledged game. The only type of games that I put on my phone are thumb games. Games that you can play with one thumb.
I understand that many reviewers see the temperature sensor as a gimmick, but there are useful scenarios for it if the sensor is good. I love to cook a lot, so knowing the approximate temperature of my frying oil or meat, or if I’m coming down with something, or the temperature of coffee for pour over, etc., would be great, provided this sensor is usable. So I wish reviewers would give this a chance and see first if the sensor is in the ballpark for checking said temperatures rather than dismissing it right off the bat. Great videos though. I doubt the sensor is accurate and if that’s the case, then I agree that it’s useless and a gimmick.
After some back and forth, I decided not to buy the smartphone for the time being. Meanwhile, more and more test results come in, which supported me in my opinion. One of the issues is clearly the still not really equivalent battery life and then I'm also kind of annoyed that the sensor hasn't gotten bigger (as mentiond in some rumors). The price-performance ratio does not fit somehow, considering that a lot is only possible via the cloud and some features are not really mature yet. My current phone is still holding out, so I'll see in a few months how the prices and the software have developed by then. Maybe it will then also the S24 Ultra, we'll see.
I'm pretty much like you debating but I was amazed by the deal with including the watch 2, which I can sell by after. The watch is not useful enough for me. Also the best take feature is Wow. If you don't mind waiting for the next generation, go for it. It can only get better until they decide to stop making pixel phones.
I confess I wouldn't have bought my Pixel 8 Pro except I'll get the Pixel Watch 2 for free. Without the watch, there's no way I would have bought this phone.
quick question: is the summarize function available accross all countrys or only in the us? asking cause i live in germany and i can't find that feature on my pixel 8 pro -.-😭 thanks in advance
I played with the phone at the store and that display is unreal. Imo it's the best I've ever seen
(Not imo, factually and objectively the best on any phone from benchmarks)

If only the frame and visor were also matte

Got the 8 Pro Bay Color
Rocking it with clear skin and man it feels so nice in the hand.

@@scaryifliteral have you installed the latest ONE UI 6 Beta? It takes the s23 series to another level. It's fantastic.
much more helpful than any other video i can find their they keep reviewing cases by the same 3 companies

Dxo mark gave the 8 pro its top marks over all phone displays. Dxo isnt god but but it deserves a mention.
What is the screen protector that you are using for the 8 Pro?

Gunna have to ask that you not play two princes as a sound test. Now that will be in my head for eternity.

When they say peak brightness is 2400 nits, they are definitely referring to when you miss the fingerprint scanner and don't cover it completely

I do wish the display was slightly more saturated. Also, it not being a10 bit panel is somewhat criminal.
My 6 pro has hollow sound when tapping screen. Does 8 pro have this effect?
How do you get the date and weather along the sides of the lockscreen?

@@scaryifliteral Thank you!
I wish I could give you another upvote for Spin Doctors!
Nice!
I think Google pixel 8 pro is more slowly than the Xiaomi 13 i have both and in simply things is more slowly

Why do you think this phone has a low customer rating on Amazon? this makes me hesitate to get it.
No idea
they are all complaining about the same issues; heat, battery, slow screen unlock, and the modem.
How useless will this phone be when Google turns off these cloud features in ~2 years. Curious
About as useless as every other phone I guess since none of them have them? Not something I'd be worried about though.
By the sound of it... You're a small phone user. 6.7 is the norm nowadays.
Using a large phone has not and will never make me prefer it. Being normal isn't something I'm concerned with lol.
Sorry but porcelain is the best color!
