    The reason for the anomaly on the sleepers at Cameron bridge station by the platform is that the line from Leven to Kirkcaldy was on a tight curve through the station and there were two rails nearest the platform. I presume the second rail was to reduce the likely hood of a coal train derailing due to the short coal wagons

    The bulk or if not all of that railroad will be replaced with modern tracking,🤔
    Hence the 70+million cost

      I think that's from the National Library of Scotland's online map collection - maybe the 1952 maps?

      e.g. this view: maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=17&lat=56.19549&lon=-3.00999&layers=170&right=BingHyb - It's mad just how much rail and industry there used to be around Levan & Methil!

    That was a really good video - thanks. It brought back memories as I used to walk the first bit - Thornton Junction via the sidings to the Balgonie Pit with my Grandfather in the mid to late sixties (he was a retired engine driver and was born in the last house (at the bottom on the left) on Station Road Thornton).
    I can remember lots of sidings - fanning to the left before the bridge over the Lochty built with bricks marked "Balgonie Colliery").
    Where you went past the cottages under the main line we used to walk there and the colliery buildings, the brickwork and the bing were all still there - it was really interesting - although now obliterated!
    Thanks again - I'll explore your other videos.

      Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. This is exactly why I enjoy sharing these trips. I have friends and family who have moved elsewhere and others who can't walk distance, so giving them the opportunity to see these places again allows them to do the same as you have and share with us the memories they have of these places.
      Thank you again.

    These concrete pillars at the side of the bridge under the mainline were part of the Stop line barriers from WW2

      Thanks for the support. Yeah, my kids are my life. My anxiety and depression problems are non existent when I'm with them, because they show me love no matter how I am. To them I am Dad I don't have to put on any facade with them, just be myself. I'd love to travel abroad to see abandoned places that are relatively undisturbed. Most places here are smashed to bits or demolished to make way for car parks or farmland. But I have said I don't want to go anywhere until I've been everywhere there is to see in Scotland first.
      I'm hoping to make a journey up north to some of the old lighthouses along the north coast but quite a drive and possibly overnighters. Maybe soon.
      Thanks again for your messages. Means a lot and keep up your great work. Dying to see what you do with the Ford Transit.

      @dct1 3 года назад +1

      @@BogieOnPatrol thing is NR didn’t exist 20 years ago so must be new. Railtrack last maintained the line hence the boundary marker plate on the sleeper at Cameron Bridge.
