      @@HaiTran Very helpful reviews - great work! The link goes to the Lomography Lomo'Instant Wide's various models. If you're referring to these, would you consider them to be the combo of the mini 90 + wide 300 ( features+ film size)? If so, where does the picture quality stands with this one comparing to the other two? Thanks in advance!

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  4 года назад

      They're all going to largely give you the same picture quality. Manufacturers treat these cameras as toy gimmicks and don't invest all that much into lens development. Also, the picture quality will also be limited to the film itself and Instax films aren't high resolution in the first place.

    You are correct in your assessment of the images but that is the nature of instant film. The images generally suck and they are very expensive but they are A LOT of fun! I agree with you. I've had mine for about two years and it's always a gamble if the photo comes out well. I was searching for modifications and another youtuber paired this camera with a seperate flash, a TT600 set up as a slave flash. It appears to make indoor photos a lot better. I hope fujifilm revisits their wide series and releases a better camera soon

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  4 года назад

      I think having a modified external flash would be even more of a gamble because the camera’s metering system is set up for the built in flash’s output. The external flash would be even more powerful and you now have to worry about the flash’s distance/position and have to physically move it. To me it seems more of an inconvenience than anything when considering that this camera is meant to be a toy more than anything.

    Definitely appreciate this input about the flash and the view finder moving. I personally like the antique-ish look of the pictures, like the one of Mount Fuji, which is why I like Lomography as well.
    I would personally mention the cost per shot, as the speaker did say we might be throwing away a lot of shots at the beginning. From what search I did on the film required for this camera, I saw it could cost between $1 and $2 per shot, depending on how much film you buy at the time. Amazon has a bundle of 60 shots for about $50 with little plastic frames.

    I watched both videos about wide 300 and neo classic 90! Both are great!! So i want to ask you, which of them has a better analysis if you want to take fotos of faces mainly? More clear fotos?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  7 лет назад +1

      Are you talking about face detection or just sharper images? If face detection, neither has this. You're really just depending on the focus to get clear shots, whether it is a face or another subject. I think both are comparable but the Wide 300 may be a bit harder to use since you have to get used to the zone focusing system that it uses. Once you understand the distance scale, it's pretty straight forward, but if you think about it, the Mini 90 uses the same system so really it's about the same difficulty.
      I don't know if you can say that one takes clearer photos than the other. The Instax mini film is smaller so it's harder to tell in general if it's sharp or in focus. Because the Instax wide film is larger, it's pretty easy to tell if there was a mistake made or not. It all comes down to whether or not you were able to get the distance right for the focus to work. This is the best way that I can answer your question, hope it helps!

    • @glykpatsi1264
      @glykpatsi1264 7 лет назад

      Yes, actually I was talking about sharper images. you helped very much thank you!! :) I haven't worked before with instax cameras so i was thinking about buying the neo classic. I can’t decide weather to take this one or the instax sq6, I like both formats since the photo dimensions aren’t too small like the mini version, the only point on this wide 300 is that you don’t have much control on light/focus as with the sq6. Which one do you recommend?

    I recently purchased the Instax wide 210, that it is exactly the same camera inside, and I enjoying it very much, but as you said it is a same that it only handles from 1/64 sec - 1/200 sec shutter speed at 1:14 aperture, you have to be very careful because of the camera limitations. I wonder how many steps can handle in between the lower and faster speed. Two apertures 1:14 and 1:11 and up to 1/500 sec would be much better. Maybe for the next one?

    • @HaiTran

      From a business standpoint, it makes sense to push the Instax line as it outsells almost any other types of cameras for the last few years. It's unfortunate that they don't really support roll film anymore but that's just a reality that we'll have to face.

      That's a tough call because there's no saying how the camera's meter will determine the scene. If there are enough Christmass lights, it may determine that the scene is bright enough without flash or the opposite if it's not bright enough. There's no telling without experimentation.

    would you say the wider film camera is better for landscape or architectural shots compared to the mini instax?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  7 лет назад

      Well, if you are consider based on the Instax film itself, the wider film is bigger so you'll almost always have an easier time viewing it once you take the picture. The film is not going to effect what you can take pictures of in this sense. It'll only effect how you view it. You want to take a look at the lens of the camera that you are considering. The Instax Wide 300 has a 95mm lens. This isn't exactly wide angle so you'll have to be quite a ways back if it is a big building. You're going to have this problem with all Instax cameras. They were not meant to be specialized for any one thing but you can use them for anything. You'll just have to be creative with how you approach the photo.You can adapt various things to make the lens wider, but if you're serious about landscape/architecture, look for a different camera. If you're just having fun, like I said these cameras can be used for anything.

      The Fujifilm Mini 90 is definitely a more advanced camera with its features but it still only uses Instax mini film. I would say to overlook the shortcomings of the Fujifilm Wide 300 and just go with that IF you want a bigger film. If you're fine with Instax mini then go with the Mini 90. The film being a high sensitive ISO 800 is a problem for sunny outdoor shooting. Yet its no good for indoor shooting without flash either as the camera is a fixed f14 aperture. It's a shame there isn't more options like different ISO speed films. However, I guess you don't use a camera like this to get perfect shots.
