I’ve come to realise that everything we draw is the visual effect, because we can’t reproduce the actual subject and conditions of a photo ( which itself also equally captures the effect of life), but using ink, I capture something of its visual effect. Make sense?😀
@@stephentraversart Indeed, with ink all we can draw is a black mark, but those marks are quite capable of creating all kinds of interesting illusions. A digital picture is relatively close to the actual subject, and if you can make a digital picture then it is always possible to reproduce that picture as a drawing, i.e. what we call hyper realism, and some people can draw photo realistic with a graphite pencil, and while hyper realism is impressive why you would your drawing be like a Xerox copy machine is beyond me, it seems like a waste of time to me, i.e. if I want to reproduce the actual subject photo realistic then I have a DSLR camera for that job....
For being a person who myself have done close up drawings, i.e. an ink study, of individual grass straw and their seed bundles I may be entitled to disagree with you on how to draw grass. :D

I’m always still drawing the effect of grass. The effect changes over distance. I lack the patience for more botanical drawings. 😀
