    Hi Suzanne - I want to say THANK YOU for these wonderful video tutorials. I used your technique for keeping the "ears" off of a kitchenered toe and it works brilliantly! I'm very grateful that good teachers like you are willing to share your knowledge with us.

    Thank you! All of the heel turns of my Christmas stockings had ridges on the beginning of each purl row. After watching this video, it looks the same as the smooth beginning of my knit rows. Amazing description of the purl decrease!

    1st video Ive seen to explain how the stitches can be picked up under 1 leg or both. On my 1st sock, so I didn't know you pickup the slipped edge later. I was worried they were so loose and was trying to tighten them up each row

    Hello.
    Would this work for a toe up sock? Thank you for sharing your knowledge of knitting. 😍❤️

      A heel flap is worked differently toe up. But can be done, certainly.

    Some people recommend doing SSK instead of k2TOG for the RS decrease. What are your thought on that?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  4 года назад

      This is such a great question. It depends on which way you want the decrease to lean. It does make a difference. Personally, I like the k2tog because it causes the stitches to flow over the heel turn. If you use an SSK, it causes a definite line all along the heel turn. Make two swatches and see what you think. Happy knitting.

      I can’t believe that you responded so quickly! Thank you very much. That really clears it up for me. I’m so happy that I accidentally stumbled across your posts. I love that you’re a continental knitter, and I find your explanations and your videos to be really excellent. You have become my go-to source for my many knitting questions. I wish I could get the fingers on my left hand to hold the yarn and move the stitches like you do! I’ll keep trying, but I find myself going back to my old ways as soon as I’m not fully concentrating on imitating you! Thanks again, and please keep doing what you’re doing :-)

      It takes a few months to retrain your brain for anything. Just keep on trying, and soon it will feel more natural.

    Thank you for the video tutorial. It is very helpful. However, I am not doing something right!
    I am working with 24 stitches. Do I designate stitch 12 & 13 as the center stitches?
    After working with all the stitches I have 14 instead of 24? What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you in advance for your help.

      These are the directions for 24 stitches; Row 1, sl1, knit to one stitch past the marker, k2tog, k1, turn. Row 2, sl1, p3, ssp, p1, turn. Row 3, sl1, knit until one stitch before the gap, k2tog, k1, turn. Row 4, sl1, p until one stitch before gap, ssp, p1, turn. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all stitches have been worked. Best of luck, Aries! 😊

    I’m really confused 🤔 with the 4 needles. This is why I’m studying before I start anything thanks

    Are the slipped stitches slipped knit wise or purl wise?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  4 года назад +2

      On the RS, knitwise, on the WS purlwise.
