No good person takes pleasure in this, but it is what we must do as the circle of life continues. Thank you SO much for sharing, this makes my heart feel lighter about the process without scissors

    Oh, I like this!
I’ve tried Zack’s way, but I’m not good at it. This looks easier. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing, I missed the live the other night. I surmise this basically does what a snake does when it constricts. This looks clean and fairly easy. I haven't yet dispatched any of my birds even though I have an extra rooster or two. My first question is how much pressure does it take? You clearly have have larger stronger hands than I do. Second question: Can this method be used to prekill chicks for feeding to reptiles? Last time I tried varying my diet by giving my white lipped python a quail chick the poor thing was screaming as she dragged it back into her lair and the others in the box were peeping back, it was horrid lol Thanks!

To dispatch chicks I pinch where the head meets the neck. It’s instant

thank you. but, I'm not sure I get it. What is your thumb on? heart? artery? what exactly are you feeling for? and, is the back of the bird hold just to get the pressure? I hate getting it wrong. want to have just as quick and painless, frightless experience as you have shown.

It was a very promising share.
I tried tonight and it did what you showed in the video, I chucked it aside after 30sec and the bird caught it’s breath whilst I was on the second, the second came back after 60sec of this technique. I pressed VERY firmly too for the second one!
So, I went to quail pop and they didn’t come back to life(& injured).
I really had hopes for the method in this video…
Unfortunately I cannot recommend this method. Sorry.
*This was my first time dispatching Quail.

Not sure what’s going on. Have not had that issue. Everyone has a way of dispatching, which ever way works best for you is definitely the way to go.
Also if dispatching for consumption you should be removing head.

I understand for feeders but for eating, myself, I want it to pump the blood 🩸 out to clean the arteries. Maybe with such a small bird, it isn’t an issue🤷‍♀️

Most would want to bleed it out. I had a request for the head to remain on by a customer for consumption which I found this to work in that case.

I want to sale as whole as possible with the head on which to me makes very nice presentation so I'm going to try this and as soon as it's knocked out and done twitching I'll slit the throat and see how that works out. I'd also like to sale or even for my own consumption

I tried to do it this way but my bird kept gasping for breath and didn’t die. Maybe I just don’t have the strength.

I am new to quail, only 2wks in since hatching. One unfortunately was injured with a tendon slip. After 3rd day, no improvement. This seemed calm and peaceful from my perspective. Chick is not suffering. Deep breath, it's part of what I signed up for🩷

What is the point of doing this,to squeeze it's heart, that's mean and painful!

    • @thelarochellefarm595
      @thelarochellefarm595  2 года назад +13

This is to give those who may have issues dispatching birds other ways some options. You may think it’s mean and painful while others may not. No meals that you eat end up in a plastic bag for you to purchase on there own.
