  • St. Peters Village just outside of Pottstown, PA is definitely a unique experience! It's an entire little village of shops and merchants in old-time buildings from the 1800's, such as a bakery, an antique store, a general store, and... AN ARCADE?! Wait, WHAT?!
The Village Arcade might be a little anachronistically out-of-place compared to its surroundings, but walking through the front door, you will definitely be transported in time from your modern-day expectations. With only a single exception, every single game located in this arcade is electro-mechanical. There's over two dozen classic pinball machines from the 60's and 70's, but that's only the start of it. Along the left wall, you'll find a selection of games that were clearly precursors to the digital era. Want to shoot some aliens? Try Midway's "Invaders From Outer Space", dating back to 1970. How about play an inning or two of baseball? Try your hand at Chicago Coin's "De Luxe World Series" from 1974. Blow up some enemy submarines? "Sea Devil" from 1970 will have you peeking into an actual periscope to make your shots. Want to take to the skies? 1971's "Stunt Pilot" will have you making loops and dodging obstacles.
As I mentioned, there's one sole exception to the electro-mechanical machines here, and it's absolutely a worthwhile inclusion; the original Pac-Man sits in the corner, chomping away at dots and fruit and ghosts. One of the nicest things about this place? Its extreme affordability; come in with a ten dollar bill and you'll find yourself with eighty credits, as every single game in the house gives you 2 credits per quarter.
Overall, this place is an experience that absolutely can't be missed if you're in the area. While it's only open weekends with limited hours (typically 12 to 5 PM on Saturdays and Sundays), it's worth making a trip to check out what life was like before pixels!

That Village Arcade looks pretty old school with some old pinball machines than I remembered.

@@videocrab I know, right? I had to manually add most of the EM arcade games (and one of the pins) to the Zenius database because no one else had put them in yet. It was a really cool spot and we all absolutely want to go back sometime and just spend the whole day in there.

You can't deny the appeal of these old coin-ops. They're so physical so "real" that its a marvel to watch them move as well as play

Mostly there is only old classic games in that arcade, huh? Cool -- I might want my uncle to see this.
