East Highland Way 2023 | Day 5

Scotland’s East Highland Way | Day 5 - Dalnashallag Bothy to Inch | Distance 15 miles (24km)
We started Day 5 with another scorcher, in fact I think at the time it had been the hottest day in Scotland this year. We took the morning pretty easy at the bothy, gathered ourselves and then got on our way down to Newtonmore where we would take a break and to refresh in the scorching heat!
After we headed back into the hills for an another 4-5 miles, now the sun was at its peak and it was taking its toll. So by the time we reached Kingussie we were ready for a good hour to take our boots off and get some proper food. Unfortunately my batteries were getting low so I didn't film much, but we had some food at a little local chippy, fish & chips of course and it was great.
The next part was a bit of a nightmare as we kind of hoped to walk maybe 1-2 miles and pitch up for the night, but seems that wasn't to be. There's really nowhere on the path to camp until you get to the forrest near Inch, we actually found a little marsh area off the main path, it was fairly level and it was still dry, so after about 15 miles, feet in tatters and our spirits getting low, we managed to pitch our tents. Straight to sleep pretty much as it was getting on by now anyway.
