Unknowen Unknowen Exactly what I thought. You have the greatest marathoner in history vs the greatest distance runner in history. None of them would really lose.
Watching this video makes me so happy and i feel this is my sport aswell.. when its tought run and watching motivational videos like this one help me survive my runs even i love running.
What a wonderful video. I grew up watching Bekele in the peak of my running so I "want" him to win, but they are both incredible athletes, both appear incredibly humble, and it doesn't matter who wins, both are worthy winners and amazing people.
If finally we get the contest between both of them at peak fitness, no injuries - this will be a blinder. CORRECTION - Bekele injured, contest now off :( All being well, if Bekele could have maintained pace with Kipchoge across the race, he could have taken it in the last few kilometers. But keeping up with Kipchoge's consistency is the key, huge challenge. Really hoped this might have been a photo finish - but to no avail. Hopefully next year then...
How can you have preferences? Look at these two giants of marathon sport. Both amazing athletes as well as personalities... i want them to go shoulder to shoulder till the last km!
Heart beats are rising when days passing.. both are legendary runners..i admire both of them and my true inspiration My Eluid.. Let god gives you strength and edurance in the entire track.. cant wait to see the classy finish..All the best to both of you..
He was untouchable in shorter distances. Marathons have always been dominated by Kipchoge. However, this is a really exciting marathon! Anything can happen!
ajvf Both are undoubtedly great. But the way bekele has come back after injury and left 2 seconds difference. I think that is remarkable for any athlete. Waiting for the day 😃
@@syedowaismir5363 Very true, Bekele managed to pull that time despite not having people passing drinks to him either, and did not have to run in a straight route but ran a course without technological support
Rooting for my country man Kipchoge to win this event; thanks Bekele for participating in this for without your presence the result would have been automatic....greatest showdown coming up.
Finally... the showdown between the two fastest marathoners of all all, when both are free of injury and have managed to complete full training schedule! :D I can't help but feel that Kene B will take it, but it will take a WR to do it.
You might be right, Eliud's not gonna back down on this one, given the stakes and also how he is as an elite competitor. based on past experiences, it's sensible to bet on Eliud, but Bekele's an unpredictable one.i wouldn't completely rule out an upset too.but for now, he's the underdog;kind of.
Jesus A If the pace is a little slow Bekele will be a really fast finisher I know Kipchoge is driven but I feel knowing Bekele's track history he will go sicko mode
No Human is limited, this will be a great Marathon ever. If Bekele goes with Kipchoge Speed, he will it, but if he lets Kipchoge lead, Kipchoge will take it because Kipchoge speed is medium-paced from start to finish.
Two legends, both humble with it, whoever wins a big respect,Bekele was my inspiration when I was running but his age is against him, just a little and it’s sad seeing Bekele training on his own a lot.
Come on Kenenisa, this is your time. I always see you training on Entoto mountain while i am driving to work. I always see passion, determination and the winning mentality. This is your time bro.
I give my most respects to bekele and eliud. Yes, bekele is a legend and is the best long distance runner ever but eluid has been consistant doing his marathons and don’t forget that he destroyed the sub 2 (even though its not recorded) when it comes to marathons, Eliud is truly god like.
I believe this marathon is particularly interesting, mostly because of one important detail: it merges both track racing (Bekele's territory) and marathon racing (Eliud's territory). This race is an incredibly delicate (and rare) combination of their respective disciplines. Although, consistency favours Eliud far greater, whereas Bekele's victories in the marathon are quite serendipitous.
I'm so excited for this race! It'll be amazing to see these two humble legends running together. I'm very greatful for they giving us so much inspiration and motivation for life and running. ❤️
Let’s all pray for these two great athletes... and believe in our hearts that the two hour barrier will go down. We all know how much the world needs this kind of inspiration. Like eliud says “No human is limited”
Love them both! Also rooting for a wildcard to win the race. Someone not on the radar has put in the work to make it happen. God bless all the runners.
They have inspired lots of people. They have made us smile and they have both worked hard. So whoever wins we are grateful for what they have done for us and generations to come. All I can say is go and push each other for a record under 2 hours for both of you coz you both deserve it.
If its close in the last 1/2km. I gotta give it to bekele due to his superior track record and closing speed. If Kipchoge gets ahead and seeing Bekele fighting to keep up, he will win. Either way, this is going to be the best 2 hours and 1 minute of running we have all year.
We are blessed to have these two incredible athletes overlap. There will be no losers on Sunday. Both are champions, regardless of how the race unfolds. Thanks NN for your continued investment in the sport! It is important.

It's actually a straight forward strategy for Bekele. Let Kipchoge set the pace & follow him. If Kipchoge speeds up Bekele needs to speed up. If Bekele is with Kipchoge within the last 2 km its Bekeles race hands down. I just hope he comes into this race at 100%!
@@willydevine9553 True, but Bekele is known for his kick. That's why he has so many 5k & 10k wins. He has one of the best kicks in long distance running.
