If finally we get the contest between both of them at peak fitness, no injuries - this will be a blinder.
CORRECTION - Bekele injured, contest now off :(
All being well, if Bekele could have maintained pace with Kipchoge across the race, he could have taken it in the last few kilometers. But keeping up with Kipchoge's consistency is the key, huge challenge.
Really hoped this might have been a photo finish - but to no avail. Hopefully next year then...

I believe this marathon is particularly interesting, mostly because of one important detail: it merges both track racing (Bekele's territory) and marathon racing (Eliud's territory). This race is an incredibly delicate (and rare) combination of their respective disciplines. Although, consistency favours Eliud far greater, whereas Bekele's victories in the marathon are quite serendipitous.

@@willydevine9553 True, but Bekele is known for his kick. That's why he has so many 5k & 10k wins. He has one of the best kicks in long distance running. Its also why out of all their meetings Kipchoge has only beaten Bekele a couple times. I'm not saying Kipchoge doesn't have a kick, im saying Bekeles is better.

I have never seen anyone who runs with a posture like Eliud. Butt kickers all the way. Man is a beast. Good luck to both. May the best takes the crown.

    They both didn’t make it!
Bekele didn’t run due to injury. Kipchoge lost due to cold weather, frostbite and pain in ear!
October weather in London can be very cold for African athletes.

Two incredible athletes and wonderful people. I want Kipchoge to win because it would completely cement him as the best ever. But I sort of feel that Bekele is the underdog and it would be great to him to win as well.
