I come back and watch this series again and again and still find the ending moving. The actors, scripts and settings are superb. Most of all the wonderful music reflect the emotions.
I wonder if Hongli saw that his wife was not long for this world and, acting on the diagnosis of his doctors, decided to confront the Empress thereby pushing her over the edge into death? Maybe he was seeing the opportunity to install Ruyi as Empress and wife like he wanted all along.
@@ellenhage3611Yes I agree. He wanted to grab the opportunity to find out the truth personally. Because if the Empress dies, he will never ever know the truth. At the same time, he wants to let her know this - "please don't assume I know nothing about whatever cunning deeds you were doing behind my back".
It’s kind of funny that the Empress thinks she’ll be up above? All the evil she did. Today, we’d think of her as looking up from Hell. I find their faith actually allows them to believe that in heaven they get to keep their stuff! So interesting and good!
For all the dignity and graceful bearing they show, they're vile. Meanness knows boundaries with this lot. When they get back the evil they bestowed upon others, they cry and want pity. 😮

Langhua wasn't wrong. Ruyi's end was hardly any better than hers. In fact, it was worse. The indiginities and pain Ruyi suffered that the Emperor inflicted on her himself, losing face, being stripped of her title and humiliated again and again. She died sick and with only one trusted friend by her side. The Emperor was always the main problem.
All because because of the emperor's unfounded jealousy and Ling.
in the original novel Ling Yunche was even hesitant to save Langhua
too bad the final cut didn't include the eunuch jumping from the 2nd floor of the boat

Y tuvo razón.... Si no, piensen en como terminó Ruyi.....
