I’ve been using the spray skirt and it is somewhat different to what I was used to on a hardshell. My advice for fitting is to not try and make it too tight like you would expect from a hardshell spray deck otherwise it pops off too easily when moving as the inflatable coming isn’t enough to keep it taught. The material is quite stiff and water does collect in the pouch area so you have to pull the skirt up when you notice it to let the water run off. I guess that does show it’s doing a job though! Defiantly keeps you warmer and drier but yep, not the same as hardshell spray deck.
I have also the packlite skirt for my AE1012DEDS , however not yet tested. I am a bit disappointed by its shape and afraid it will collect all the water from the paddle. It seems to be too concave. But anyway, thanks to all your videos I own now a AE1012 with all available gimmicks and look forward to 2020 for testing it the first time on the water. Thanks Mr D from Bavaria.
Whisky Golf Hi, I must agree with the concave, but again it’s not a hard kayak skirt. I noticed the concave and thought the same thing. I guess one could relieve any collected water by pinching the middle and raise it slightly. I will be testing it on water very soon as the Florida heat goes away. My next review is a “camp n’ paddle and there is rain in the forecast so I’m taking the touring model with me just in case. Congrats on your 1012 will bring you lots of joy.
Gday from New Zealand. I have to order 2 of these for my kayak from USA or the UK so want to make sure I order the best one! have you had a chance to use both of these in rougher water? Would you recommend the packlite or touring best? appears to be about $30-40 extra each for the touring.. is it worth the extra cost? Thanks mate
You didn't show how you use the sprayskirt with your life vest. Always stress safety. It looks like the Packlite skirt goes under the vest. With the suspenders, does the Touring skirt go over or under the vest? Usually in regular hardshell kayaks using neoprene sprayskirts are worn under the vest. Will you make another video with these skirts in paddling action?
Try doing it on the water it is much more difficult. The studio background looks good but doesn’t account for a life jacket, wind and instability of movement on the water. I tried using it several times but it didn’t do the job. Excellent work on the videos but personally it wasn’t for me.
I have and once you figure out the best installation process it’s not that hard. However, I agree they are not the same as a standard spray skirt on a hard yak. Of the two offered the TOURING SPRAY SKIRT: AE2007 is the best. It does allow for the PFD better. But they are basically just a water splash protection nothing more.
I have the AE1012 with the front and back zippers. The front zipper is letting in water into the kayak. Anyone has a solution for this? I am thinking to replace to water resistant zippers from YKK.

I don’t normally use spray skirts. The touring model would be your best choice.

Hi great video! I have an Advanced Elements sport kayak...did you say the spray skirt will not fit this kayak?

I feel your pain - I just have my dry bag between my legs to prop up the deck. And/or tuck a car sponge under the bungees
