The fact there is a song with Bulgarian even though Bulgaria is not in the competition is really nice! Edit: In fact you thought I would talk about the likes? No, I just wanna tell you about this adorable moment 1:23
I mean, I'd say Nevera (competing in Dora) is just as Slavic, maybe less diverse but still just as Slavic in nature, let's just hope it gets picked tonight!
In an interview, Patricie Fuxova, a member of the „Vesna” group, says: „Our song „My sister`s crown” is about all people who experience some kind of unfreedom, like oppression from society, trends, technology, and it's such a symbol for these people to put on a crown and feel strong enough. The song combines four languages. As the author, I wanted the Czech language in the song, because I think that it makes sense to preserve the Czech language in a world competition and to have enough self-confidence to stand up in a foreign context. But of course we will also find English there to connect the individual nations. And there is also Ukrainian, because this year's Eurovision is dedicated as a tribute to Ukraine. And there's also Bulgarian, because one of our member is Bulgarian, so we wanted to include this language, and pay tribute to other Slavic nations as well.” I hope this will help you understand better the Czech entry.😊
haha and I was wondering why some parts of the song were so clear for me and sounded very much as Ukrainian and Bulgarian.... (I speak both btw) notwI got it :-))
This song is proof that music is universal. It was enough to give me goosebumps even without understanding the Slavic language.
The fact that this music didn't make Top 3 in EuroVision, especially after the most POWERFUL performance in stage, still upsets me deeply and I'm not even European. *still not over it and never will*
I don't think people realize how much potential this one has, using the right interpretative key on stage! This could be one of the best Eurovision moments ever!
The staging for this one will make or break it. You can't just try and reproduce this video on stage - oh, it's _possible,_ but it won't work very well. If they go with a completely different staging that captures the _spirit_ of what's going on in this video, that will put it in the top-3.
Glad to see an inter-Slavic song, performed in 3 languages from each Slavic subfamilies (including Bulgarian which is my native language) Definitely a Top 5 material 🏆 🇧🇬❤🇨🇿❤🇺🇦
an "inter-Slavic" song, but not any line of the lyrics is truly in Interslavic a.k.a. Medžuslovjansky (the most successful Slavic-based semi-constructed language). the closest to Interslavic in this song is the Ukrainian chorus. . Latin-script Interslavic: sestro krasiva oj ty silna hrabra jedina korona tvoja . note: there is no pleophony in Interslavic, where "-ra-" and "-la-" become "-oro-" and -olo-". examples are "храбра" "hrabra" in Interslavic that becomes "хоробра" "horobra" in Ukrainian, and "глас" "glas" (which means "voice") in Interslavic that becomes "голос" "holos" in Ukrainian (but remember, Interslavic has only one "h" from the Cyrillic "х", while Ukrainian has two "h"-es from "г" and "х").
@@UgolinoV42346 The broadcaster has to make hard choices unfortuantely.. Remember that just north, Romania was so far behind in it's obligation to EBU that they got yeeted form the 2016 contest. I consider it a truly miraculous thing that the government which funds TRM in Moldova stays committed to funding it's ESC participation.. Of course, I dont doubt that the success (even last year) helps drive a spike in tourism for the country, where most people would normally overlook it.

Anyway, Vesna has created a powerful song / video. It's provocative to the mind, body, and soul of the viewers / auditors.

It's more a fact of _when_ the Slavic languages split apart. The Romance Languages only began to split from each other after 500AD. They were still mutually-intelligible in 1000AD. Whereas Old Norse and Old English in 1000AD were only somewhat mutually-intelligible by that point [Not having the Roman Empire keeping the various Germanic dialects from diverging will do that. 😉] But the Slavic languages were still a single language about 1000 years ago. So you guys are now where Old Norse and Old English were in 1000AD, and where the Romance Languages were by the Renaissance. Not entirely mutually-intelligible, but also still close enough that you can get the gist of each other's languages.
@@xxxyyy8779 I looked it up. Divergence started around the 7th-century and was "done" by the 11th. There still would have been a very, very high-degree of mutual-intelligibility during the 11th Century, however. Old Church Slavonic was, basically, the written form of [if not the same as] Proto-Slavic - again, according to what I could find. Compare this to proto-Germanic, which probably existed, at the latest, up until 100BC. And Spoken Latin had already begun diverging in the 5th Century. Note that I *_AM NOT_* saying that Slavic _ethnicities_ are the same! I'm only talking linguistics here. And language isn't biology!

@@ukrnika No. If anything, then it is a plea for Russia to choose love over power and stop abusing Ukraine. In an interview, Patricie Fuxova, a member of the „Vesna” group, says:
„Our song „My sister`s crown” is about all people who experience some kind of unfreedom, like oppression from society, trends, technology, and it's such a symbol for these people to put on a crown and feel strong enough.
And there's also Bulgarian, because one of our member is Bulgarian, so we wanted to include this language, and pay tribute to other Slavic nations as well.”
I hope this will help you understand better the Czech entry.😊

I don't think people realize how much potential this one has, using the right interpretative key on stage! This could be one of the best Eurovision moments ever!
The staging for this one will make or break it.

an "inter-Slavic" song, but not any line of the lyrics is truly in Interslavic a.k.a. Medžuslovjansky (the most successful Slavic-based semi-constructed language). the closest to Interslavic in this song is the Ukrainian chorus.
.
.
Cyrillic-script Interslavic:
.
Latin-script Interslavic:
sestro krasiva
oj ty silna
hrabra jedina
korona tvoja
.
note: there is no pleophony in Interslavic, where "-ra-" and "-la-" become "-oro-" and -olo-". examples are "храбра" "hrabra" in Interslavic that becomes "хоробра" "horobra" in Ukrainian, and "глас" "glas" (which means "voice") in Interslavic that becomes "голос" "holos" in Ukrainian (but remember, Interslavic has only one "h" from the Cyrillic "х", while Ukrainian has two "h"-es from "г" and "х").

I cried the first time I watched this video. It's such a great mash up of female empowerment, Slavic unity, and critique of the corruption / abuses of Putin. (I have affection for the Russian people, whom I think--with the exception of the generals and oligarchs--are being mistreated and manipulated by their rulers). Anyway, Vesna has created a powerful song / video. It's provocative to the mind, body, and soul of the viewers / auditors.

From the first time I heard this song I knew it was special. And at the end of the day, both the music and the video show many of the values that Eurovision advocates. Union, solidarity, diversity. This song has a lot of potential to win and it would be a pleasure to see a country that has never won Eurovision win this year, because I know how it feels considering that my country recently won for the first time. I am a Belarusian who lives in Poland now, and I understand almost all the words in the song. That's the power of Slavic languages. The song is incredibly beautiful... it brings tears to my eyes.
Sending love and wishing you all the best ❤
It's more a fact of _when_ the Slavic languages split apart. The Romance Languages only began to split from each other after 500AD. They were still mutually-intelligible in 1000AD. Whereas Old Norse and Old English in 1000AD were only somewhat mutually-intelligible by that point [Not having the Roman Empire keeping the various Germanic dialects from diverging will do that. 😉]
But the Slavic languages were still a single language about 1000 years ago. So you guys are now where Old Norse and Old English were in 1000AD, and where the Romance Languages were by the Renaissance. Not entirely mutually-intelligible, but also still close enough that you can get the gist of each other's languages.
Could you translate it to English please, because I am Czech (living in the UK) and I do not understand a word of it 😆😆
That is not true that 1000 years ago all Slavic languages were one. The divergence began long before
@@xxxyyy8779 I looked it up.

I've given up trying to figure out what the Danes will do from year to year. Emmelie may well be their last big result for a long time. I've ben trying to convince my buddy Tim Schou ( A Friend In London 2011) to put his foot in again.. He's been writing some amazing stuff over the last decade.
Waiting for Lei lei 🇷🇸💙🇭🇷

Tak to je parádna pieseň. To combo slovanských jazykov mi roztancovalo dušu😍 Love over power.. for everyone, everywhere 🌻🇺🇦🌍
May I ask what language is it? I'm from Poland and I understood everything. Słowiańskie języki takie podobne :D
@@blackone2826 Slovak language😊👋 hello, my polish bro❣️
@@miriam7779h I was quite close, I've heard Slovak's many times (I'm living near border) but I never read anything in this language. I always can speak with Slovaks and understand them.
As Ukrainian I want to say that this song is awesome! I will vote for Vesna! Prague 2024?
We hope
And just when you thought that after "Lights Off" there couldn't be anything better...
I've been listening to this on loop for an hour now and I can't get enough. My winner from Spain 🇪🇸❤️🇨🇿
Man, Eurovision hasn't even started and I'm obsessed with this song. Good job Vesna! Love from Greece! 🇨🇿 ❤️ 🇬🇷
