    This is such a criticial thing I need to remind myself quite often. If hit a ball hard it means I have less time to react. Playing smarter, not harder, shots is the way to gain more points. And lets not forget that sometimes you dont have an opportunity to smash or play vibora during the game, you always have to serve or return a serve in each game so in my view it is one of the most important part of the game at the beginner level. Thanks for your tips !

      Thanks for your comment Adam 💙 Exactly, one of the beauties of padel is the fact that sometimes it is actually better to play slow 🙌

    For me, it helps to do my second serve really slow because there's a high chance my opponent will have to run and hit the ball with momentum, making it go out easily. Plus I gain a lot of time to prepare at the net to attack

    • @padeldriver
      @padeldriver  10 месяцев назад +2

      Definitely! Some people really struggle returning a slow serve to the glass! Plus you have more time to ge to the net 🙌

    • @padeldriver
      @padeldriver  10 месяцев назад +2

      However, you will see that more advanced players will always play the lob with those kind of serves!

    Would you ever use your backhand to serve. I have a natural slice backhand from tennis. And you would possibly get a different angle? Just wondering?

    • @padeldriver
      @padeldriver  9 месяцев назад +1

      Very interesting question! I would say unless you clearly have a stronger backhand serve, stay with the forehand. However, you will see some pro players (Paquito and Carolina Navarro) serving with the backhand ONLY to the left side player 🙌

    I notice that the people that play with me (all amateurs, but they have played longer than I have) struggle when i serve close to the net. Is that a thing? Why should or shouldn’t I do it? (At this point I can’t aim to the sides)

    • @padeldriver
      @padeldriver  9 месяцев назад +1

      The problem with that one is that if they manage to get there in time they can play a very offensive shot in the return!

  • @christianbjurstedt1911
    @christianbjurstedt1911 9 месяцев назад +1

    I think a common mistake is to play it too safe. If you make 90% of your first serves, you’re not aggressive enough. Even on second serve, it’s better to hit a few double faults per set than to be put under pressure immediately.

    If you’re at the level where you need to watch this video, you should definitely serve fast. It’s not until a reasonably high level of padel where the opponent will be able to hit a good return on a fast serve.

    • @padeldriver
      @padeldriver  9 месяцев назад

      I don't necessarily agree. I would prioritize length and backspin over speed

    • @christianbjurstedt1911
      @christianbjurstedt1911 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@padeldriverThose are good, too. What I meant was that the argument that a fast serve makes it hard to come close enough to the net isn’t valid for intermediate players as the return will either be a lob or a pretty weak return.
