Bae is in general extremely underrated as a singer. All of her covers deserves a lot more attention. highly recommend checking out her solo covers of Hontou No Oto and Dawn as well as her duet cover of Blooming on the mud with Towa. Her singing style is generally deeper register emotional songs showing off her range. Hopefully she will gain some more attention after 4th fes and her 3D debut.

This song is _huge_ in so many ways.
Its sheer length makes it unusual already, breaking the standard 3-4 minute "radio" format. But it and the MV are so well paced that you don't notice how much time passed until you realize that it's already over.
Not only did Bae get some of Hololive's top vocal talents to chime in for the chorus (check the song's description for the full list), the colorful part of the MV that follows it also features/references _EVERY_ talent active under the Hololive banner by the time of its release (plus the shadow of a dragon, carrying someone on her shoulder) - starting with the EN girls as little fairies, over "Gamers" in their animal forms, HoloStars, into a wild mix of JP and ID talents across several scenes... There are _SO MANY_ references in those ~30ish seconds, it's crazy.
The video also marks the "ascension" of a fan animator into an official project. *AliceMagic* is fairly well known in the Holo EN fandom for their amusingly random and very expressive animated shorts - often involving voice clips of the girls put into new context. -They're also pretty obvious about their fetish, which tends to be a core component of these videos...-
And then of course there's Bae's voice. Her musical releases are mood whiplash incarnate. This is her fourth release, coming right off the heels of her original "Play Dice", which was preceded by the covers "Happy Halloween" and "Hontou no Oto" - which make for an up & down of happy-go-lucky bangers and slow melancholic ballads, honoring her lore as Chaos incarnate... Not only does Bae have an amazing voice, the huge range of _mood_ and _character_ she can embody so naturally is what truly makes her great.

Glad you enjoyed it, Bae's one of the most diverse in styles - she did Play Dice which you checked out before which was pure chaos and then she can do this. Her voice is versatile enough that she's even created her own mini visual novel series where she voices six or so different characters before.
In terms of views I think it's more to do with the pace and length of the song, as Play Dice got a lot more. Typically slower, longer songs don't generate the same view count even if they're as beautiful as this one.
Really hope her duet with Towa Blooming in the Mud is voted for in the near future because that is a vocal masterclass from both of them. It moved me which is notoriously hard to do.

Bae spoke about this song in an after-premier stream and brought up how after showing this video to Irys, Irys commented on How that crystal looked like her crystal from her first Song MV (I think it was Caesure of despair) which Bae was surprised at since both she and the animator had not thought of that as an idea or as a reference to Irys since she is featured in the segment with the other members (though it would have fit thematically given Irys represents hope as part of her character lore). Also, this mv or her recent one with Towa were part of her goals for that year.

  • @Davkas
    @Davkas Год назад +57

Bae's stylistic range is so good. She can sing the high-energy stuff just as well as she can sing the really heavily emotional stuff. The chorus in this is absolutely stacked too, consisting of Tokino Sora (Hololive member #1, the OG of Hololive), Suisei, Towa, Watame, Risu, IRyS, and Amelia Watson plus three members of Holostars JP (the Japanese branch of the male side of Hololive): Hanasaki Miyabi, Astel Leda, and Kageyama Shien. Like, I'd challenge you to find a more stacked chorus. Bae did an incredible job putting this ensemble together, from her vocals to some of the best vocalists in HoloPro. The animation is also so, so good especially when you get to the color part at the end. There are literally references to EVERY Hololive member including past members like Coco (the dragon in the sky), and it chokes me up every time I watch it. It's so good!

As I first listened to the song, I was literally crying. This song, the performance of Baelz, the instrumental all together made tge probably most emotional song you can get. Hakos Baelz the embodiment of the concept "Chaos" truly fits her character. She is so talented yet underrated. She plays herself down a lot as well as that is what I see. Then I look at her 2 completely different songs "A million miles away" and "Play Dice" and think that it is all in her mind. If she would do more songs like that she would be just as popular as Suisei or Calli in my opinion. But I am just rambling. If you truly read all this thanks.

Agreed. Bae and her music are way underappreciated. That’s true of a number of Holo mems though sadly.
Speaking of Holo Mems, since you seemed curious, the description of the video does list out who specifically was singing during the orb chorus, and it’s quite the line up. For starters, you may have been able to discern there were male voices in the mix-those would be three HoloStars members, Miyabi, Astel and Shien. For the girls included, from JP Bae enlisted Sora, Suisei, Towa and Watame-which as you know by now are four of the heaviest hitters she could have asked. To put it even more over the edge, from Holo ID Risu was included, as were two Holo EN members. The first of those makes sense for wrangling the best singers in Hololive and especially for Bae-IRyS, who if you don’t know is one of the Holo mems Bae is closest to (the running joke being they are or were married); note in the video, when the mini-Holo member fairies come up to greet her, the little IRyS is the focus. The final chorus member is the weirdest selection as it is one whom, though she has improved a lot and recently released a super fun original, is definitely not considered to be of the same caliber as the others as far as vocal ability goes-Amelia Watson.

From top to bottom (singing, MV, composition, etc.) this goes beyond the expectations of many people. But since you have listen to Bae's singing you know what she is capable of.
Bae herself did request this song to cover, it's one she personally likes and resonates with on an emotional level (you get that if you paid attention to the lyrics)
Almost 5 minutes of Bae singing by herself and then the chorus in the later harmonies truly elevated the song to amazing levels. A stunning performance, as fans we were spoiled.
*Also Fun Fact* : Bae said that it wasn't intentional that the crystal at the beginning refers to Irys. But we know those two too well, plus in the context of the song it's obviously Hope.
It's not that she's underrated (for me, she is definitely in the top 3 singers of all the girls in the EN branch, alongside Irys and Gura) but more that she is overshadowed by more highlighted/popular talents (like Gura or Calli). She is no less talented.

  • @CyrusMajin

That this song hits as hard emotionally as it does is both a testament to Bae's skill as a singer and how emotionally resonant the original song is.
If you aren't familiar with the anime film "Belle," this song is sung by the female lead at the climax having using her real appearance instead of her full dive VR avatar. The part that the other holo members sing in the cover is emotionally sung in response by practically the entirety of the user base of the VR service in support of the female lead.
I would love to post a link to the clip, but for the life of me I can't find it.

I don't tend to watch Hololive cover songs and stick to their originals, but I happened to catch this one as it premiered and I'm so glad I did. The entire song is beautiful, but the part that really got me is the pan up to the dragon flying past the sun watching over everyone.
All of the various creatures and in some cases objects in the final segment of the song represent the various Hololive members. The dragon is of course for Coco and I was so pleasantly surprised to see her included. Coco left Hololive a few months before Bae even debuted but her impact on the company has been impossible to forget. She is and likely always will be my favorite Hololive talent.

This cover is beautiful and Bae really did an amazing song with this. The original song is from a movie called Belle, which I haven't seen myself, but heard a few songs and all of these songs were amazing.
A little fun fact about the MV: The video contains references to every single Holomember (both Hololive and Holostars, the male group) that were active at the release of this video and even some members that were already gone. Certainly something to go back to, when you know everyone.
Talking about Holostars, I really want to recommend the male group, because they are absolutely amazing as well. I suggest the song "We Are The Holostars", which contains the remaining 9 members from the original three generations and showcases a good amount of their vocal capabilities. I hope you'll give them a shot soon.

In all honesty, the reason it doesn’t have more views is unfortunately probably due to the length of the video. Most people weirdly won’t listen to longer songs even when they are willing to watch other youtube videos for hours on end.

I think this song has fewer views than other hololive songs because it's more of an experience than the other songs. Reflect, Violet, Red, Live Again, and even Bae's other songs all have a replayability that this doesn't, they're catchier with choruses that you can dance along to, but this song hits so much harder than those other great tracks. Strange, I never got notified of this video until now. Bae is VERY quickly skyrocketing to become my favourite Hololive member. Her passion, her talent and her ambition are utterly insane. This song was a collation of everything she is. The fact she's Calli's "sister" is true in every sense that she has that same insane work ethic Calli does.
Hell the girl is currently working on multiple projects, preparing for the 4th Festival, doing dance lessons, streaming EVERY SINGLE DAY in February as part of her FeBAErary month, she has two covers with IRyS that just came out for Valentine's Day, AND her birthday stream at the end of the month all to plan and work on.
She's an incredibly fun streamer to watch, she interacts a lot with her chat, plenty of teasing back and forth, is incredibly fun and creative with her stream ideas and generally tries to collab and get along with everyone, even the Holostars boys who she's a big fan of. She doesn't shy away from that divide between the two branches, even when she gets a bit of stick for it from some people, which I respect.
Vocally she's shown with her Blooming in the Mud cover that she can match Towa's power. Let that sink in. She matched TOWA'S power. She can sing beautiful ballads like this, and she can also do fast paced songs and raps like her original song Play Dice. She will be one of the biggest Hololive singers as she gains more experience, mark my words. I plan to be there to see every second of it. My advice, keep your eye on her.

Part of the reason why this video isn’t as viewed is not just because Bae is a newer Hololive member but also because it’s a cover of a song from an anime movie called Belle. So people are more likely to just listen and watch the original version than her cover of it.
Also not everyone in Hololive was doing the background chours, if you check the video description you will see a list of everyone from Hololive that helped along with the other credits for making the video. There’s also a link to the original version of the song Bae covered as well too.
Basically you should read the video descriptions more often after reacting to a video to get more information not mentioned in the video itself.

From what I've been told by others, Bae seems to have polarised some potential followers by her age. Officially her age is "roll a dice" but she has started stating that she's 12 years old. 12 as in 12 billion, but also because her birthday is February 29, so she only gets older once every four years. Its also because she's a zoomer and has that mental age, but some people take one look at that and see a problem. In case people who didn't know this start worrying about her actual age, she drives and drinks legally IRL, and that's all you need to know.
"Blooming in the Mud" is another recommended song, "Hontou no Oto" is the first cover she did that demonstrated she could sing like this, and for a complete tonal shift, I recommend "Strange". Bae is celebrating her birthmonth again this year, streaming every day. She has another cover song coming up, and on the 28th she will be dropping her 2nd original song.

Not many have said it, but this version is a cover of a song from the movie "Belle". The music from the movie is amazing, just like this cover. I recommend reacting to both the original Japanese and English versions of this song as well, or even the movie considering how underrated it was.

Hard to believe this is the same little chaos rat that sang "Play Dice", isn't it? Bae is an amazing performer and streamer!
I was one of the people who kept screaming at you to react to this song, and every time I did, I warned you to have tissues ready! 😂
Now you owe it to yourself to also react to Bae's cover of "Hontou no Oto" (also will require tissues), and "Happy Halloween" (her very first cover) as a palette cleanser to be reminded that she is not just a diva, she's also just a tiny chaos rat!
Forgot to mention that once the color returns, pretty much EVERY item, object, animal, anything you see is a little Easter egg for the fans as the chad animator (the amazing Alice Magic) put in a reference to EVERY SINGLE Hololive and Holostars member both past and present!
    Additional Recommendations:
"Shallys" by Aki Rosenthal is an absolute MUST
    "Hinotori" by Takanashi Kiara
    "4BLOOD" by Takanashi Kiara
"The Narrow Way" by Amane Kanata (A male/female duet with herself)
"The Hololive MEDDLIE" by Kureiji Ollie

Also any chance you can react to HoloX’s Chloe’s song, Marionette?

I think a reason for the few views (which currently by coincident is almost a 1 to 1 to her subs) at least in part is due to a low number of replays. This song demands your attention for the whole duration and beyond to reflect on what you just witnessed. It's not something one just casually throws on for background listening, while voice chatting or gaming or doing chores.
Also Bae is incredible. She rivals Ollie in just how supportive she is, is an amazing vocalist (acting and singing) and yet when she streams she's incredibly down to earth and seems easy to approach.

Idk why the backing chorus being other Hololive girls hit me harder than how it goes in the film. Feel like what it was there would be more impactful.
The animation was just an extra gut punch.
Let me explain. In the vid you see directly or a reference to girls that "graduated" from Hololive (either stopped streaming for some reasons or left the agency)
seeing them in this... with this song?! Yeah My heart was not ready 😢😢😢

I've never heard a singer who could truly make me think that they have the voice of a goddess
not only because of how good they are a singer, but from the very tone of her voice as well
Truly a voice of incredible beauty, ironically attached to the a rat who is supposed to be the embodiment of chaos
Of course some of this is due to song choice, audio processing and such, but there undoubtedly has to be something in her voice to create this

I'm really surprised that Bae is still under 700k subs. She's very active, her streams are really varied, she does podcasts, gaming, she used to do "rate my ..." kind of videos which she would do drunk, yet she's not yet beat the 1 million mark, and she speaks a bucketload of languages, including Korean and Japanese. I wonder if YT is not really promoting her videos or something, like they used to do with Sana because of the hashtag she used for her streams...

While the Japanese version is so good already. It has an english dub that is if not, on par with the original voice. Thank you for the reaction as always luke!!

I would really also recommend checking out the original version of this from the anime film "Belle" - though I'm not sure if there is a good upload of the scene on RUclips.
