I know this is a relatively old video, but the wonderful paintings of Seago are timeless and the music of Vaughan Williams matched them beautifully. Thanks for sharing
Seago's impressionistic style captures brilliantly the atmosphere of the East Anglian countryside. I love his paintings as I do the music of RVW. This is therefore for me the perfect combination. Many thanks.
In moving a few days ago, I discovered two of his books inscripted to my Mum, who died last year at 99. I read Tidelines cover to cover one night, then found the WW2 book. What an amazing artist. Now I truly understand why Mum always said that she so wished she could paint. He is a true master.
Thank you very much, Colin. It speaks to my soul and I'm not sure why being born and bred South African. Leaves me feeling sad - but it's beautiful and I love it.
Love Edward Seago's Painting's. Never heard of him till now.He is similar to Elioth Gruner. From the same era but from Australia. Thank You Colin,Regards Terry
An enormous pleasure to watch this sequence of paintings to the accompaniment of RVW. The master of English music and the master of English landscape painting in perfect combination. I am an admirer of both. Thank you for bringing the two together. Your video is a gem.
I have long been an admirer of the work of the late Edward Seago and the atmosphere he created in his paintings. This video provides a superb fusion of the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams and the images of Seago so brilliantly put together by Colin. Richard A Morgan
+Richard Morgan Sincere thanks to you, Richard, for your kind and appreciative remarks. Both Seago and RVW remain undervalued English artists, I think.
Your right on, Seago was a wonderful watercolorists but it is his loose "style" oils he was renowned for. He painted quickly and none of these took more than perhaps 4 hours. An oil painter who paints like a watercolorists. To think that this man's art is hardly known...least of all by art schools here in my home of the United States! A pity. PS Thanks for posting this moving vid 27 !!!
Superb. A very great painter - and a wonderful piece of music. 10 minutes of pure pleasure. Thank you. I shall subscribe in the hope of finding more of this..
I've taken a look at your channel and much look forward to all of it. You must be a painter, as well as a music lover. Seago was a master, the equal and indeed superior to many Impressionists, but born a 100 years or so later of course. I found paintings in your video I had never seen before. Thanks again.
Yes, I do paint a little Charles! I hope you'll give me some feedback on my other things, if you have time. You're right; Seago was a great master and much of his work was done in East Anglia, where I happen to live and his influence can be seen in the work of contemporary local landscape painters.
A wonderful job! The paintings and the music complement one another beautifully. Seago's work (new to me, I must admit) is so loose that it almost looks more like watercolor paintings than oil.
What a great Artist and a wonderful style of painting. Thank you. ❤️
