Think your airbag will save you? Think again.

- Here are six vehicles that have sustained substantial front-end damage from car accidents, yet their airbags did not deploy. These are all from the same junkyard, and there wasn't a single vehicle in the entire junkyard with a deployed airbag. I have frequented this particular junkyard for years, and for the vast majority of wrecks that come in, the airbag did not deploy. I can only recall a few cases in which the airbag actually deployed.
I don't know the story behind any of the crashes except for the second car in the video (the Nissan Altima), because that crash happened today. The woman driving lost four teeth, cut up her face, and suffered head trauma.
None of those cars had any signs of impact big enough or in the right location to set of any of the equipped airbags. The airbags did their job by not going off.
Don't mind him. He's pretentious fuckwit.
Are you blind? The Toyota Camry at 2:38 had the front bumper, grille, and hood caved in so hard that it bent the whole hood up about 8" above the fenders. The impact was right in the middle of the front of the car.
"The airbags did their job by not going off."
You're a moron. See above.
@Jaden Bissell Your non sequitur is dismissed, dipshit, and since you have no arguments, your tacit concession is noted.
@Jaden Bissell It's not a "comeback", moron, it's a statement of fact, i.e., your post was a non sequitur therefore it can legitimately be dismissed out of hand, and you entered an argument without having any arguments, which equates to a tacit concession on your part, which, by the way, remains noted, since your most recent post contains no arguments either.
@@MaximRecoil lol someone is mad for no reason🤣
My mom got t boned in a 2008 Honda Accord sedan back in 2013. A Chevy Impala hit her right dead in the driver door at 40mph and she walked away with literally two bruises, one from the seat belt pretensioner holding her in the seat. The side airbags went off and saved her life. So I can say that airbags save lives.

These are older cars. Come on dude. You have to think first. These cars were nowhere in the generation of IIHS's small overlap crash tests.
In reality, your airbag shouldn't deploy unless your front clip is crushed back to the motor, or about 50% crush. I've seen so many damn cars with blown airbags in minor crashes that just take out the bumper. the majority of newer cars deploy all the airbags too, knee, side, and front in extremely minor crashes. That is total bullshit in my opinion, as they aren't needed until you get up to about 30 mph or greater. Especially the side airbags! Every one i've seen deployed in a junkyard came from a FRONTAL impact. Why the side airbags???
The side airbag deploys in a frontal crash to keep the occupants from moving around to much.
HaydentheFireBuff ! Not true. Watch any crash test. The occupants move FORWARD, not side to side in a frontal impact. Nobody got hurt in the 90's due to the lack of side airbags from frontal impacts. They just aren't needed until you are hit almost directly in the side.
***Classified*** They can head toward the side. I have watched plenty of crashes. Thank you very much.
HaydentheGamer48 Blah They move sideways when there's an overlap. Side airbags are simply not needed in frontal crashes alone, period. All the companies are doing is ensuring that the car is totaled in any small accident, which means the owner needs to buy a new car, meaning that they make more money. It's all a scam.
Its not about how much damage that determines if they airbags go off, but the g forces and vehicle speed along with deceleration.
That Nissan and dodge were not even damaged enough to making the airbags go off. You have to bend the mid fender area for the sensor to trigger it.
Airbags really only deploy in MAJOR head on crashes and these cars all have the crumple technology and any wreck you might be in, the car will look 10 times worse than what is really is.
None of these vehicles had enough frontal damage from impact to cause the airbag to deploy.
Are you blind? The Toyota Camry at 2:38 had the front bumper, grille, and hood caved in so hard that it bent the whole hood up about 8" above the fenders. The impact was right in the middle of the front of the car.
First vehicle has no front end damage. It was struck in the drivers side door
my sisters 2015 3 series was involved in a wreck with a pickup truck and the front end was almost completely ripped off... not a single airbag deployed.
The driver airbag will only deploy 7f there is an front impact at 30 mph and up
Not necessarily. It deploys when the sensor detects a significant deceleration of the vehicle, triggering the computer module to send a signal to the inflator, inflating the airbag.
Also, the grille got pushed up and in, and the hood on the passenger side got pushed back and down.
great. cause airbags deploying alone can total a car
It matters the impact,if your wearing a seat belt , and airbags expire
airbags expire?
Yes it does. How do you think the passenger-side headlight got dislocated, and the section of bumper beneath it got pushed in, and the front valance got mangled?
front bumer has to be crashed to make the airbag go off
hardly and damage to the front.
