I loved what you did to create the haberdashery and sewing shop for the McCatties. I have a Sylvania house and lots of furniture that I planned to make more realistic and less “plasticy” - you have now given me the inspiration to get started. Thank you for sharing your ideas and creativity 😊

My advice is to have fun with it and see what you can do. If you'd like any more tips or ideas just ask and I'll reply or make a tutorial for you

When it comes to fabric, such as how you crafted the stool; the most efficient way would be cutting about two centimeters extra. That way you could have folded it inside the cap and have a neater finish. Also with it being glued right over the inner rim, you would have been left with just the inner top of the cap for gluing the wooden sticks to make the legs. This would make it so all you'd need to hold the fabric down as it dries over the glue are some Bobby pins. Just in case you ran out of rubber bands or some needles and thread you wouldn't have to worry about it lifting or fraying over time. It would also give you more flexibility on time so you can get to things you might have wanted to add but didn't have enough time to complete. It's a very lovely home, it just felt like you made extra steps on yourself which seemed to cause you some stress and forced you to rush on things that you were enjoying.

Thanks for the tips! You are right, more fabric and bobby pins would have worked better. I’m not the best on building furniture but there has to be a first time for everything! Any advice is very much appreciated.
I must say I didn’t find any of this project stressful, the stress factor at the time was a job that I have now fortunately left.
This was actually a lovely distraction from all that, there is more I’ll probably add in future in my own time and I may do an update at some point x

@@Rhiannon.Campbell Oh you poor dear, well I'm glad you got away from that stressful work environment! I'm excited to see more of your creativity and work in the future, it's absolutely beautiful to see it come together. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for lovely victorian and historical European homes so seeing you transform it into a gorgeous little atelier home was very enchanting. I'd say the lovely RUclipsr named Dolllightful and brilliant Hextian make lots of helpful furniture videos when they do doll customization. They also hate wasting materials and enjoy recycling so I'm sure you could find a few good ideas on their channels. I'd say if you are afraid of burning yourself with a hot glue gun, which is a great fear of my own; maybe try the brand gorilla glue with the smallest tip. The brand is very well respected in the wooden crafts community and is far less finicky and intimidating as hot glue. One of my favorite tricks to make something a bit more fancy is going for rich colors or lace details. Oh and jewelry wire to make legs for old fashioned tea tables or stools to use with a lovely breakfast nook, it's really durable and the best part is that it's user friendly and lasts for a really long time. Hopefully this is helpful information, I'd feel dreadful for wasting your time darling. My best advice for everyone I have had the pleasure of speaking with is to experiment with things that you feel safe with and comfortable trying. Even if mistakes happen, some of those techniques might help you on things you were puzzled with or couldn't quite figure out. I think you are very talented and I can't wait to see your next projects when you post them!

Thankyou so much! I wish I'd read your comment before filming the interior of the haunted house video. But we know for next time (probably a Christmas one) I tried hot glue and I've seen people do amazing things with it I've mostly mildly burnt myself and put strings of glue everywhere so I'll probably try some gorilla glue. I love the jewellery wire suggestion!
I'm glad you liked the video and I hope my slightly shoddy workmanship doesn't put you off in future!
There is always room to learn, and all that.
