He is truly an amazing gentleman. I wish he was able to still correct the historians now. There is nothing more remarkable than interacting with a living being who was there.
He was sent to a re-education facility then used for propaganda purposes to legitimize the communist regime. They made him more valuable alive than dead.
Bro, you should know what he did to his Eunuchs. We Chinese believe in karma and the yin and yang. Him and his Dynasty just lost the mandate of heaven. That's it.
Historian : "Why do you know everything about forbidden city ?" Pu Yi : "Yeah... i was working in here for few years" Historian : "as a staff ? or Eunuch ?" Pu Yi : "I'm the Emperor" Historian : *awkwardly silence*
Bertolucci's movie, 'The Last Emperor' is a reasonably accurate and very well-made account of his life. Not everyone agrees with the character arc he gets in the movie, but it's not implausible.
I wonder whether the lesbian seduction of the drugged empress by her cousin-in law, a female japanese military officer, who was actually a manchu royalty sent by his father to a japanese friend as an adopted daughter, but was raped by the old japanese, eventually turning the manchu princess into a lesbian ? I don't know if the lesbian seduction of the empress was historically correct .
What a remarkable man. Self-possessed. Maintain royal training until the last moment . Proud to demonstrate his knowledge and his connection to his culture. He did not emphasise his own importance only the importance of culture.❤🎉
He had to buy a ticket? I can’t imagine. But on a smaller scale, my grandparents donated two of our ancestral homes to the town they live in now to help the town with funding when my grandfather was mayor, he retired years ago but if we want to use the homes for family reunions or weddings we have to rent them out now. It’s the towns right to ask that now that it’s their property, it just bothers me a little because my grandmother was born and raised in one of them. Now I can’t visit it out of nostalgia without permission and payment. But we weren’t drove out like this, it was a choice for us so that makes it different.
Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't he ascend to the throne at the age of 2? He had no power and was even dethroned twice, at the same time the nationalist movement led by Sun Yat-Sen was trying to unify china and retake Beijing from the warlords.
When I heard the story of his life. I think he might have been happier after he stopped being the emperor. Luxury and wealth are not all it's cracked up to be, from how people tell what it was like being owned by one's people.
I wonder if the Dynasties had not been so devious & corrupted( by better management)would the royal line have continued and been a “ figurehead” like England. What I learned from history: Hungry & destitute citizens revolt.
If you're interested, there's fictional chinese drama set at that time called Heroes (2024); it could be watched at wetv (official) or any other illegal platform LOL. The story itself is fictional and interesting but the historical events and timelines at that drama follows the factual history. But no matter what I don't think Chinese would keep Royal line as figurehead; the Chinese don't respect Royal line like a in England. They have the so called 'mandate of heaven'; it's like an invisible but powerful binding contract between Royal family and chinese people. Chinese will give almost unlimited power to govern to Royal family as long as they are Just, fair, benevolant etc but once there are rampant corruption that make ordinary citizen suffer, war, the lands being divided, the Royal failed to/ can't protect Chinese from foreign power etc, it's all the sign 'mandate of heaven' is not with Royal family anymore; thus, the chinese have right to rebel / topple that Royal because That Royal don't have right to govern China anymore nor they will be given precious tax money from ordinary citizen. You see, Qing dynasty at that time had all the signs of losing mandate of heaven in Chinese's eyes; no matter what, that Royal power can't be saved. Once you lose that 'mandate of heaven' then you're out; it's time to change dynasty / people that have power... it's like total change.
Wow, I had no idea that such profound concepts like the Mandate of Heaven were already present in the Chinese system. It's fascinating to see how political and philosophical ideas shaped your history so early on. I was only familiar with more modern movements like the People Power Revolution in the Philippines and the French Revolution, where the people rose up against tyranny. It’s interesting to see how different cultures and periods approached the relationship between rulers and the governed. Thanks for sharing!
By watching the movie. It's just sad that he was stubborn at times because of his title and ignored some of the courts teachings/warning. The court/servants are also too scared to correct him for the fear of their own lives. The European/American teacher giving him wrong advice. Didn't have really good person/teacher who can really teach him about the world and everyone's was secretly against him.
Is it me or... this RUclipsr really look similar to the last emperor?🤔🤔🤔 His face beside the picture of the emperor makes me think he is talking about himself because of the similarity... No offense...
I know that he was not a good husband or powerful emperor. But somehow I kinda pity him, because he has a chance to live just as another nobility at that time but was taken to be the puppet emperor for the power that wish not to stepped down in the age where he understand nothing and couldn't even tell the right and wrong only to left with the title he didn't choose himself and humiliation I don't know anything else but it's kinda sad
he was later rehabilitated during his prison sentence. he was made to listen to the stories of people tortured under his puppet government, servants he’d abused, the regular people who suffered under him even when he had been “regular nobility” and ended up completely renouncing his previous ways and life. he became a street sweeper who worked his way up to selling books, married a nurse and doted on her the rest of his life. he was a humble man who has a good life once given a second chance.
Those comments were so badass😂 iI still don't understand why he just wasn't hired as a tourist guide he knew more than anyone plus that would lead him to make more money for the museum, such a wasted opportunity.
nah man although he treated his first wife like dirt it was the japanese who seperated them. plus puyi some say is homosexual an thus not really interested in women but some say he is bixesual
A good flex to say that the picture is of his father. A pitty how he ended up in the end. Started at so high, yet at such a youthful age with little experience, he was taken advantage of through a multitude of great upheavals in China.
Thank you. One day we will all be back from the dead and live in peace and Harmony under Jehovah God's Kingdom, ruled by his son, Jesus Christ. The emporor's of China will teach us many great things Iam sure.❤❤
Yes, and to be able to move between all places across the world, and understanding all the languages. Just imagine what you might have heard and seen - the truth of history's most notable people, places and times, not just Forbidden City. How the most famous documents of the world came to be written and signed. What actually happened to the British Princes in the Tower. How did Egypt's pharaohs convince their slaves to become sealed into pyramids with them. How was Stonehenge really made. What were some of history's most infamous people thinking when they made the decisions they did... and so much more. To understand just how much of world history, as we know it, has been falsified (either the truth stretched, or completely fabricated) rewritten and/or misinterpreted by incorrect translation over time. I find history absolutely fascinating.
