Thanks for this excellent post. Sally is a brilliant and very humanistic writer and director. I remember reading and hearing about the reactions to the violence in Happy Valley, esp. that directed toward women. Sally had such an excellent response. Policewomen are subjected to an unbelievable level of danger and violence, (as are policemen) better that somebody presents it in an honest and realistic fashion. This isn't Hollywood "paint by the numbers", Happy Valley is one of the most realistic and gritty police dramas I have ever seen. Huge kudos to you Sally.
This women is one of the most extraordinary women writers around today - amazing.
